If they stop diverting the flows of the two rivers which used to feed the lake with water,the lake might revive slowly

But that would mean stopping gas production there (or what they are doing there), so I guess they won't do that

I have read about the projects of Kazakhstan to restore the remaining lakes from Aral and they actually work so far. I have not seen much from Uzbek side. Karakalpaks and Kazakhs die from health conditions caused by this catastrophe.

Maybe Uzbekistan is more interested to not have a sea (so they can get to gas and minerals more easily)

So sad to see one of the worst ecological disasters in the world dry up at one point the 4th largest lake in the world. Not only that, but it devastated the fishing industry and market in the surrounding Turkic countries and decimated an ecosystem killing off many endemic fish. Hopefully it can make some kind of return at least, but the damage is done.
