hey Naomi! im Korean living in Korea who's your fan hehe I would definitely recommend you doing solo trips in Korea but i might say since you've stayed in Seoul mostly for this trip next time I highly recommend you to visit Busan as well! there's a beautiful beach (its kind of seaside city) also the vibe is very different from Seoul in a very interesting way! also let me know if you need any tips on living/traveling in Korea! I would love to share my point of view of Seoul and also would like to recommend a lots of kinds in Seoul! btw its well known in Korea that 7 eleven is considered as the worst convinence store chain I (and probably most Koreans) would recommend you to go to Gs25 or CU convinence store chain the bakery section is THE BEST also kimbap section is really good, a lot of pb products as well! and for people who is vegan/vegitarian if you go to a bigger convenience store you can easily find vegan bento or vegan warm meals in the section! anyways hope your plan to Korea is going well!! have a nice day xdd

The corn ice cream has actual pieces of cooked corn inside. And Koreans love corn sooooooooo much that they have corn cheese as a side dish and put corn on their pizzas... Even the churro snack you had, the original flavor is corn soup flavor. It is unreal how much corn is used in foods here. I teach English in Korea... It is pretty safe for solo travel, but there are always jerks and some Korean men fetishize Western women, so you'll want to be aware of that. You'll also want to stay in larger cities because smaller areas don't speak much English, if at all. Where I live, hardly anyone speaks English, so if you don't know Korean, doing things alone could prove difficult at times. Busan and Seoul are safe bets for foreigners, but the smaller cities have their charm, too. Gyeongju is quite historical and has BEAUTIFUL scenery. Pohang is a beach town(although there is also a Steel Mill as an eyesore) and has had a few K-Dramas filmed here. I hope if you do an extended stay, you do showcase some of the smaller areas as well. Can't wait to see what you decide!

@@nerostays I've never been to Ansan, but Wikipedia says it's actually considered part of the Seoul National Capital area. It also says the metro runs from Ansan to Seoul, but you could also take a bus if you wanted. Not sure of the time of travel for those methods, though. Since it's closer to Seoul, more people may speak English. Regardless... Korea is quite small geographically and you can take the KTX from Seoul to Busan in something like 2 or 3 hours, so nothing is really too far from anything else.

What I can say to you is that you have to believe that you are capable of doing it alone and that you will protect yourself no matter what. If you want to go back to solo traveling why don't you start small and travel near your home town or within the country you live in? and the more you practice that and the more you challenge yourself the easier it will get. I’ve never been to Korea but I’ve solo travelled to Japan twice now for three weeks each. (I’m a woman in my 30s from the US) Solo travel is super rewarding. You get to make plans and decisions for yourself 100% of the time. And I agree that it would be a good way to challenge yourself! Speaking for myself, there were brief moments of loneliness and moments of culture shock/confusion but those come with putting yourself outside your comfort zone and are part of what makes it rewarding.

I had no previous friends that lived there so trying to get the basic questions asked was a bit harder but after being there for a week I made new friends and saw mainly everything I wanted to see specifically in London. I think solo traveling is the best way to honestly do anything but you get to see the thing you want to see without friend involved wanting to see other things that can end with you having a trip that didn’t feel satisfying

I solo travelled around Tokyo for 6 days (it was supposed to only be 3, but a typhoon hit Japan while I was there and I got stuck for an extra 3 days) and honestly, I really liked it. Prior to that and for quite a few years now, I've done a lot of things on my own, such as going to the theater, going to restaurants (on many different price levels), and going around different cities on my own. I live in California and drive a lot LOL, so that is a big factor. But I ended up really loving being by myself and exploring places on my own because you get to set your own pace. The number one thing is to have a solid base, as in a solid place to stay that you can find your way to easily, and making sure you remember the name of it if it's a hotel, or keep the business card in your wallet in case you need to take a taxi. A lot of places in Asia have pocket wifis you can rent if your phone company doesn't have an international data plan. I looked very touristy, even though I tried not to, but I always had a spare change of clothes in my bag in the event of emergency (like rain or spillage) when going around a place where I don't have my car, or convenient access to wherever I was staying. It got a little bulky, but a good set of undies and leggings and t shirt are adequate enough. I did some research of places I wanted to go to prior to arriving in Tokyo (I've been there before with a friend and wanted to hit up places we weren't able to go to, and new places as well), but for the most part I just took the train into an area and walked around, taking notes of places I would want to go to later if I didn't have to time that day. I'm also an over packer, so the hardest thing is to pack an adequate amount of clothes that you can mix/match/re-wear, but also look for a hotel that has a washer/dryer amenity, or is near a laundromat. If you plan on going shopping while in SK, I highly recommend going with a small suitcase of clothes for your daily wear, and an empty suitcase for all the stuff you buy. XD I ended up buying another luggage from Don Quijote in Japan because I bought too much. Solo travel is fun, but sometimes it can be a little scary as a femme presenting person. I'd say just make sure to do a good amount of research on places that are safe to stay and travel to. It's fun to make international friends at hostels, but it's also still very important to be cautious of who you talk to an how much information you disclose. viel gluck!!

Solo Travelling is GREAT 😍 I started solo vacations 5 years ago and love it. I‘d start with an 2-3 days city trip (my first was hamburg) then you quickly see if it’s the right choice for you ☺️ you‘ll grow & learn a lot about yourself + challenging and overcoming lonelyness makes you so strong and happy with yourself ❤ give it a try 🎉

Have solo travelled to Seoul twice and honestly it was a lot of fun! You are in charge of your own time, what you see, what you do, what you eat and just in general can make the trip into your own. Naturally be aware of your own safety and be wise about potential dangers, but overall it is a wonderful challenge and a great way to learn about your own self. A good tip is to research a bit before you go just to have the basics down and/or know what things you for sure wanna do - concerts, museums, events, travel to other cities, etc.

Personally I went 1 month alone in Japan, I was kind of anxious to not meet anyone being an introvert, but in the end it pushed me to interact more with people than if I was with friends ! It was definitely one of the best time of my life, so I really hope you can have the same !!

Guuurl, I started traveling by myself last year and I have to tell you that it is the only way to travel for me from now on! It is the best!!! It is such a freeing experience and you have to do in at least once. Try to go somewhere for like 2-3 days before you decide to go somewhere for a month, but I think you would love it. I'm going to Spain for the first time in 2 weeks and I can't wait! 😊

Naomi!!!😭 I’ll solo visit Korea in September this year and I feel you so much when you thought about it in the end! It’s going to be my first time and I’m just so excited to experience that but at the same time I’m a little nervous. Although I’m sure I’ll get to know myself all over again and learn how to enjoy stuff more on my own so if you thought about it definitely do it, because what is literally stopping us?!

You can totally travel on your own! It sounds impossible when you imagine the trip as a whole, but when you’re on the journey, you just take one day, one step at a time, and you find it’s so much more manageable that way! Broken down into small chunks, a challenging journey is doable, and you Naomi Jon, can do anything! All the broccoli’s out there can as well!

Solo travel is the best! You can do what you want, when you want. It also makes you more willing to engage and interact with strangers? Which at first sounds crazy, but can open you up to having some really special moments that you'll cherish forever! Also, eating alone can become quite the nice experience! You almost always get a seat at busy places because they can sit you at the bar or wherever, you get to eat what you want, and people watching is great fun! Sometimes it gets lonely. Sometimes you feel awkward. But it's worth it in the end, and the loneliness never lasts. I solo traveled for months across Europe and the Mediterranean, and they were some of the best times of my life so far!

Solo traveling is great. I did it a lot and still prefer it, even so I do not find the time any longer to do so. You will always find contact or support or just other single travelers to keep you company, if you feel like it, but you will soon find out, travelling on your own is just so relaxing and beautiful. Just do it.
