When we opened for Dan, he made sure we had exactly what we needed on stage. A man of his word for sure.

Makes me think of an old Kyle Kinane stand-up bit where he talks about his drinking problem..." I get the kind of drunk where I mistake Bob Seger songs for the National Anthem. Hey Doug, take off your hat, Night Moves is playing!" Favorite song is Feels like a Number.

Bob Seger did something really cool a few years ago. He gave Larkin Poe their first real big bump because he liked a you tube cover the ladies did of one of his songs.

i saw larkin open for seger in columbus in 2019. they blew me away. they are an incredible band. i definitely have and will travel to see.

Thanks for turning me on to Frankie Miller, perfect description of "This Love Is Mine." Great song.

I love so many of his songs. For the longest time his version of "Nutbush City Limits" was my favorite because I grew up not too far from the Brownsville, TN "metro area" where Tina Turner came from. But my favorite anymore is "Night Moves". That part where he says he "woke last night to the sound of thunder, how far off I sat and wondered... Started humming a song from 1962, ain't it strange how the night moves, when don't seem to have as much to lose..." resonates with my 60 year old self the way it couldn't have when I was 15.

It was good to hear Frankie Miller's name being mentioned too. :)

That’s a new name to me. Gonna take Dan’s advice with “This Love of Mine”. EDIT: Holy Crap!!!! Where has Frankie Miller been all my life!!! It’s criminal this guy wasn’t huge in the US!!! Wow, awesome vocalist! Now I’m gonna go binge on him.

@@artemisXsidecross Darn you! Just when I was trying to stay out of rabbit holes. Stellar cast of musicians on that album. I don’t recognize a few names though. Here I go after the rabbit….lol

Last saw Him on His farewell tour , Ruoff/Amphitheater Mr. Seeger did something I have never seen in hundreds of concerts I have attended. Most shows built towards the crescendo faster louder stronger. Pyrotechnics. Mr Seegerl for his encore sat on a stool all alone on the stage and played three acoustic songs, was mesmerizing one of the best crescendos and finishes to any concert I've ever seen.

Her Strut ! Killer riff !

Great to hear mention of Steve Mariott. One of my favorite rock and roll singers.

"Sansabelt slacks". I laughed so hard that it made me light headed. Standard issue grocery store manager pants when I was growing up.

Most of Bob's songs are awesome.

Till It Shines… makes me cry every time

I think my favorite is "Long Twin Silver Line." The way it rolls and straight to the punch with a great bridge. Sometimes my mood also takes me to "Mainstreet."

Saw an excellent Bob Seger show at the old Spectrum Arena in Philly… must’ve been in the 80’s…? It was General Admission,so it meant that the floor was PACKED..!!! I’m wandering around the concourse,trying to figure out how I’m gonna get near the stage… and lo and behold…I saw a janitor closet door open,and inside was an industrial size extension cord… I guess I had the “ musician look”..cowboy boots and hat..hair down to my butt… So anyway, I put that cord on my shoulder and walked through that crowd like Moses through the Red Sea..yelling-“SOUND CREW..!!! MAKE WAY..!! SOUND CREW..!!! -Got myself right up to stage-front,put the cord next to a PA stack… and enjoyed some of the best ballads and rockers,ever..!👍🏼 Thanks Otis..!👍🏼❤️ “Turn The Page “ is one of my favorites..

It’s so funny. Last night I got off work and made my way to the bar at Clark and Belmont, Chicago. The cops were all there. I guess a guy got stabbed. The ambulance was taking him away. I saw him. I get to the l&l tavern . I put on some tunes: night moves, accompany me. And we kept it going. I wake up to this story today. I closed the night and here it is Monday, Chicago. The world is all right. And coffee. Thanks Dan. Thank you Otis.

Bob Seger & Silver Bullet band Live Album is top shelf Rockin Roll

Nice story about Bob Seger. He's always struck me as one of rock and roll's good guys. In the rock and roll world full of inflated egos, it's nice to know Bob never forgot where he came from and treated opening bands with respect. It sounds like he really had his priorities in order, which may explain why he's been able to maintain his career over decades when others flame and burn out from excess. That Bob took everyone bowling is just great, and fits his image as a regular guy, which I think is what has always appealed to his fans. He's the kind of guy you'd WANT to go bowling with.

Back in the day I had two singers who I tried to copy. Bob Segar and Paul Rodgers. I can't choose which Segar song was my favorite. There's too many. Thank you Dan for sharing your memories with us and Thank You to Otis for making it possible.. . . Just another Indy boy

Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man probably my fave Bob Seger song.

Fire Lake, Ramblin Gamblin Man, and Get Outta Denver are my favorites. He recorded a big portion of his material in Muscle Shoals and those guys have been very vocal about how honest and professional Bob was during their relationship.

Seger is a true Midwesterner - night off - let's go bowling! I've seen a lot of rock & roll. Regret missing Bob Seger. Ramblin has been a favorite ever since first hearing it back around 65 (?). Love so many, especially Night Moves and Against the Wind. Thanks Otis!

Bob Segar is from Detroit Michigan. Still lives in Michigan.

Saw this show 3 times in Chicago area Poplar Creek in 86 or 87 and Bob and the Silver Bullet band were Amazing and Satellites kicked some ass as well!!

I grew up in Ohio and nothing reminds me more of where I came from than Bob Seger. His tunes are ingrained and he just has so much soul. I pretty much think night moves and all the songs on it are my favorites but love you’ll accompany me, mainstreet and my girlfriends favorite is still the one. Loved his music as a kid growing up. Still do. I never got to see him live and regret not being able to see him in the 70’s. Bet it was something

I grew up in Michigan listening to Bob Segar I love all of his stuff. He is 100 % a family man, great guy.

Awesome Seger stories. I got to see him right before Night Moves. Black Sabbath, Bob Seger, Boston at Selland Arena, Fresno, California. One of my favorite Seger stories was when Thin lizzy toured with him about 74. They liked his music enough they recorded Rosalie for the Fighting album. An Irish Rock band covering Seger.

Night moves is one of the best songs of the era. My secret fave is Still the same. Dont know why but I love that piano.

Sun Spot Baby, Member of the UMC, Beautiful Loser/Ramblin Gamblin Man, saw him five or six times from '75-87. Always puts on a great show. If you're from the midwest you were weened on Bob.

Always loved Seger. My Dad was a big Bob Seger fan, and I always used to picture him getting off work at the steel mill - after a midnight shift - and going to the bar with his buddies, and playing Seger tunes on the jukebox. My favorites are the obvious ones - Against the Wind and Feel Like a Number. And I don't care who you are, there is no way you can hear Night Moves on the radio and not think about your High School Girlfriend. That song captures teenage love better than any song ever written - and says the truest things about it. And Strut is just a monster, badass riff. Hollywood Nights is also damn good. It's easy to forget just how many great songs Bob Seger wrote - until you start thinking about it. I think I'm going to have to bust out my Seger records.

Bobs backup singer Shawn Murphy has been great with little feat all these years too. She was great on night moves!

Turn the Page, and like a rock. Turn the page, because I spent my life on the road. Having to drive all night, to get to a job and have to work all day. Like a Rock, because that was me. That song came out about the time I was 18 or 19, and in the prime shape of my life.

1977 Convention center Indianapolis, went to see Queen concert. No knowledge at all off opening act. Warm up act starts , people milling about. 90 seconds later had become life long Seeger fan .Went out next day got Silver Bullet live.

Live bullet - Travelin Man (oh that ending solo) into Beautiful Loser. Remember the vinyl. BTW, "Land of Salvation and Sin" album by Georgia Satellites is excellent and one of my favorites.

Saw the mystery band “the sorta likes” open for the replacements at the reseda country club in California way back. Remember how much fun it was to see them on mtv with the stake bed truck and Dan Armstrong. Had the cassette in my cal bug I drove then. It had a leaky sunroof I had to tape up when it rained. Water would store up and when I hit the brakes it would spit out of the roof. Ruined that tape and a few dates I went on. Great post! Thank You.

I love TURN THE PAGE, but i love even more that somebody talks about FRANKIE MILLER, a great artist that is somehow forgotten, and his story is one of survival and true rock&roll spirit

I had just gotten home from my stint overseas ( Navy) and I went to a friend's house to do a little partying and he turns me on to some Bob Seger. I was blown away! I was always a Mitch Ryder fan and I felt like Mr. Seger kept the Rock alive. Loved all his songs. Thank you all. Love you all.

One of my favorites,by Bob,is Firelake,as far as the Satellites,my all time favorite is Tied down with battleship chains,Love the lead vocal,and backing,vocals,grooving together,I bought the album three times,because someone would dig it,and I'd shoot it to them,never to return,But I knew that would happen,I just wanted to spread it around.

My grandmother on my dad's side once sold gas to Bob Seger. My father claims he was driving a '69 SS Camaro and pulled into the gas station she was attending. Got like, $20 in gas because $20 in gas got you a lot more back then, than it would today. He gave her a $100 bill and told her to keep the change. I don't know if this is true or not but I don't think my dad would lie about something like that as he grew up listening to Bob in Pontiac, Michigan. Favorite song would have to be Night Moves.

Don't have to dig too deep for this one, Night Moves is one of the greatest songs ever .For some reason, it makes me long for Midwestern summer nights, the air thick with the odor of cornfields.

Found a copy of “Seven” and “Brand New Morning” at a flea market years ago. Stoked about both, but the latter of the two is by far the best LP find I’ve found in the wild.

For me it has to be "Turn the Page" But as redundant as I get saying this "It's probably the one I'm listening to at the moment" He's another one of "Those Guys"...I had never been able to see him live until Nov. 9th 2011.....He was the first act to open at the "New Ford Center" in Evansville IN We sprang the cash for some good seats and I remember the wife and I talking about how good it would have been to see him in his "prime" So we went expecting a good time but not Bob in his prime right...I mean Bob was no spring chicken anymore...LOL...Otis Bob burned that brand new Ford Center down...It was unfudging real. We couldn't believe our ears. Our experience matched right up with what Dan says in Bob isn't going to do it if he can't do it as it should be. Even when he played a few solo with just his guitar on a stool center stage he was mesmerizing. So we went really just to say we finally got to see him live and we left wishing the show had never come to an end.

Awesome interview! Gives me a lot of additional respect for the Georgia Satellites. They are a part of the soundtrack of my life. I hear their name and immediately hear their biggest hit like a Pavlovian response. Great info about Bob. A little over a month ago, I was on the road listening to SiriusXM on a Bob Seger radio and heard a lot of his thoughts and stories. So many good people telling great stories.

Dan the Man !!

I met Bob Seger after he retired the first time. He came to a Toys R Us in Dearborn, MI to buy some toys for his kids. We talked for ten minutes about our kids. Bob was just a regular guy, I was sorry I didn't have the toy in stock for him, he thanked me for checking.

Making Thunderbirds, Night Moves and Ramblin' Gamblin' Man are three of my favourites.

Really nice reflections here. Not sure about the never lowering a key and not hitting notes though - There is enough concert stuff on youTube that verifies that just like most aging singers that high note just wasn't there anymore. And Old Time Rock n Roll, the key had was lowered years ago from the original recording. I am glad and fortunate to have seen Bob in the seventies and early eighties and all that was true then.

I saw the show at club kemper . Its a 25 grand seat arena. He booked 2 shows

I never got to see Bob put I appreciate him. I am probably one of the few that like him more than Springsteen. We used to cover Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man a long time ago.

I have been to many Seger concerts. Too many to count. Of all the opening bands I thought The Georgia Satellites were one of the best. Picking a favorite song is impossible. Every one is great.

His take on Rodney Crowell's Shame On the Moon kills. Check out his 60s band Last Heard; beautiful heavy blues rock as good as any you can name!
