@@That_dude_who_knows_some_stuffhey there! Fellow Marylander here, Harford County. Just recently got back into bourbon and I had NO IDEA things had gotten so crazy!!! I remember getting most bottles whenever I wanted at MSRP. I was completely shocked to see shops selling Blantons for $120+, no Eagle Rare on the shelves, etc etc. I remember being annoyed if I couldn't get Blanton's on sale for $45 and had to pay $55-60 lol. If I only knew what things were gonna be like in 5-10 years back in 2015!!!

I think the state-run lotteries are smoother and make more sense. Living in Colorado, it's all up to individual stores to do lotteries, which is usually based on purchase amounts through the year to get entry, and the cost to be "competitive" (i.e. get in more than 1 store's lottery) can get astronomical over the course of a year with no guarantee of getting anything in return. The rest of the stores will hide their stash for their favorite customers but still typically charge 2-4x MSRP for them. Some will put them on the shelf, but that's Weller green for $125, not BTAC or anything. I'm about at the point where it's not worth the time or money for the hunt, and I'll just start looking for interesting pours when I'm out to eat/drink.

That is a great haul, the system with multiple tables that your state has is a great system. Here in Kentucky when there is a lottery you get one bottle, only can choose one bottle, unless you have multiple friends that don’t want to drink the bourbon and are in line with you you only get one bottle. So count yourself lucky that your system is like that.

With the scandal involving the governing body of alcohol distribution here in Oregon recently being brought to light I was surprised for him to drive across state to find blantons, four roses, eagle rare, makers 46, stagg and a few others for him and his friends to split. Just curious, is there more interest in becoming a free state in Alabama, or continue having state stores?

It really is an amazing thing when you can buy something but can’t find it. Reminds me of the Air Jordan’s I wanted in 1989. Finally found those, at least! Can’t get Blanton’s in Ohio because of all the whorish resellers.

I just got my lottery results for this December. I'm number 25 at a Birmingham area store. At that position what do you think some options would be for table one bottles? Pappy out of the question?

I find this crazy, Buffalo Trace is the easiest Bourbon to find where I live (NE UK). I can literally walk into any shop and they will sell Buffalo Trace, the general price for it is about £21 ($25-ish) but it can vary up to about £28 ($34-ish) so to see it next to the rest of these bourbons is mad!

Hi from Australia 🇦🇺 So is it about getting rare bottles or good drops at low prices? Or both. Yeah we don't seem to have that down under. Where does the stock come from.

Looks like their May be quarterly lotteries but there is no drop schedule for the last month of each quarter in their new calendar…. Not sure what that means for sure but it’s different.

In Alabama at the state stores they are all just above msrp due to high taxes but never secondary prices

Draw more than 100 spots. There are more bottles than 100 people can buy so if you draw 250-300 spots there won’t be any camping.

That’s what I would do as well. Limit your choice to 1 location, give everyone that enters a number and if you don’t have a number you can’t buy that day.
