As a morbidly obese person it's scary how accurate this is. Luckily I started a weight loss journey almost 5 months ago and I've lost about 45 lbs. I already feel much better but I still have over 100 lbs to go. I'm excited to get all of this weight off of me. Sure, looking better will be great but I'm mostly excited about just not carrying this weight around anymore. I know that my back and knees will feel better. I know I'll be able to breathe better. I'm just thankful that I found a weight loss plan that I can stick to.

Remember like the cycle to get unhealthy, there is a cycle to this to, feeling proud about what you have accomplished, 45 pounds! , will feed your drive to keep going forward! Listen brother I've had to lose weight for shows and fights a lot of times in my life. Its hard as hell, I only had to drop 15 20 pounds, and I thought I was going to die each and everytime from hunger, from exhaustion, from the level of work needed to get there, so 45 pounds is intense!

As a guy that’s 100lbs overweight, this was awesome. It really is a daily struggle, and I’m trying to get healthy, but the weight really makes everyday tasks feel impossible. At a certain point eating becomes the only thing you can do to relieve yourself; and working out is mentally exhausting as well as physically. Body image plays a big part in that, but that’s another shoe that food inevitably fills. Also, watching this video made me realize just how heavy my shoulders do feel; my stomach pulls them down all day, even sitting. Thank you for this.

I'm pretty sure you qualify to be declared legally insane. A better way to do this might have been to create a suit with lots of pockets filled with sand, so the weight would be more evenly distributed over your body, we reducing stress on key places like your hips your shoulders and your feet, but too late for that now I guess. I'm 74 years old and overweight, but not 100 pounds overweight. I could lose about 20 or 30 pounds and am working on that. I converted my living room into a working gym complete with free weights, treadmill, spin cycle, weight machine and a few assorted barbells. I work out every other day lifting way more than I can, trying to build muscle, but I do only a few reps. Again, I am 74 years old. Take it from somebody way older than you, slow down and look before you leap.

18 months ago I weighed 323.8 pounds. I was the heaviest I had ever been by about 25 pounds. That was enough for me to decide I needed to change it and it needed to be permanent. Saturday I weighed in at 212 pounds. That's a loss so far of 111.8 pounds. My BMI went from 43.91 to 28.75. That means I went from the class 3 obesity category to the overweight category. I can't even begin to express how happy I was to get under the 221.1 that is the obesity line for my height. Oh and I didn't realize the effect it was having on me until the weight really started coming off. It wasn't until I felt better that I realized I felt bad.

You should have spread the weight across your body. Ankle/wrist weights. Weighted belt. Then the remainder over your shoulders. Obese people have their weight evenlyish spread so you should too. All the weight being on your shoulders just causes more problems.

Yeah. Obese people don't carry that much of their weight that high up. The higher you carry it, the more muscles are used to just stabilise it. If it was all below your knees, you'd need zero extra effort to just stand still. It it was all on your head, that entire weight would have to be stabilised by pretty much everything...even your neck. But it's just a KZread video, for entertainment. If you want something more scientific, I'm sure it's been done with much more realistic "fat suits".

Have you ever seen a hiker's backpack? They have a thick waist strap so the weight it put on the hips, not the shoulders. That probably would have been more appropriate for this experiment. Obese people don't hang that much of their weight from their shoulders.

As bad as that much weight has to feel, I think the hard metal has to make it even worse. At my highest weight, I was around 100 pounds overweight, and now I am between 50 and 70 depending upon what my final goal weight ends up being. When I was at my highest weight, It was bad, but I definitely think the hard metal would have been a great deal worse. At least the fat is soft and spread out better. I think a fat suit with a softer and more natural distribution of weight would have been a better and more accurate test.

  • @TimpBizkit

    @TimpBizkit

    Жыл бұрын

@@Pimpincrispy1978 nope, cut out everything EXCEPT the carbs. I learned from durianrider. That's what your body is wanting. When your body wants chocolate it's wanting sugar, so if you get a bag of sugar and a spoon it's actually saving calories over chocolate and ice cream, because you're only getting the sugar, no fat, and full. (Most people who are eating high sugar are also eating high fat, which is why articles put words like sugar "is associated with" weight gain and diabetes, rather than directly causes) By the time your body would be making fat from fat free carbohydrate, your appetite is severely restricted and you're disinterested in eating. You have a supply of glycogen in your liver and muscles. It's made of glucose molecules chained together in water and is a buffer for blood sugar levels and a fuel supply for cells and organs and muscles. Your body also nibbles a bit of fat along the way. The aim is to keep supplying the glycogen tank without taking in any junk fat in any form to replace those fat stores nibbles your body takes. Though it's obviously more nutritious to get some nice juicy fruit rather than just eating candy. Also rice and pasta and potatoes - not sweet but starchy glucose suppliers. To maintain a calorie deficit, fat should be under 20 grams a day or you'll have to eat less than your hunger wants to eat, which is psychologically challenging to maintain over months. Keto just makes you weak eventually, though you get some false energy living off cortisol. Ketosis is basically starvation mode and yes you will lose weight at the expense of hormone and thyroid health.

Would be really cool to see you do this again but use a sand suit (or viscous water/ballistic gel) and do it. See how a more flexible/pliable weight modality would effect your experience. I believe some things would remain the same (back pain, fatigue, and sense of lethargy/apprehension to exercise) but I think other areas it wouldnt be as intense. Because I know being overweight my weight was never on my traps, it was on my chest but not nearly as bad as yours seemed. It also distributed down my legs so it wasn't purely on my torso/thoracic area.

People that heavy get to that weight slow enough for the body to adapt as they gain weight. Still shouldn't try ballistic type training or running cause you'll just end up with ankle injuries. Definitely walking and changing diet, intermittent fasting are the best to start. I remember seeing a guy who weighed 600+lbs and lost most of that said he started by just lifting cans of soup while sitting/laying.

I think you have to ease into the extra weight over a long time period, like 20 years of excess eating, that way you'll feel more like a "unit". But you gotta focus!

i'm glad this experiment seems like it inspired a bit of empathy. food really can become an addiction or a "boredom cure". i've been obese/morbidly obese for the past 9 years and thankfully, that extra 100 pounds isn't a solid weight, but distributed around my body in the form of organs, tissues, fat, water, etc. and doesn't feel this intense. i can lift a 100 lb person but probably not a 100 lb weight. i also wish this video dug into the mental health aspects of morbid obesity too. it seems like it was not only physically but mentally challenging and i felt like this video got so close to that point without making it.

As a person with a BMI over 40, getting in shape and actually working out at first is very tiring and difficult, but as you get better at it the load lessens and its much easier. With time, our joints kind of get used to the extra weight but its still a challenge, even while keeping an active lifestyle. The tough part is losing weight because when faced with such a big journey it gets overwhelming very often, but this video reminded me of how far i've come and how much i have yet to acomplish. Thank you for trying this, can't wait to see more experiments!

I'm glad I found this video. Thank you for your experiment. I am 450 pounds and each and every struggle you had, I have them everyday. My body had time to adjust as much as it could to lift myself but it has a limit. My flexibility is declining fast and that's the scariest. Good job for trying and making people know what is it like. This is an eye opener.

I've been waiting for someone to do this, to get an idea of what life is like for someone morbidly obese. I have respect for you man. I was worrying for you from the start when you were describing just how dangerous each movement was. Interesting when you said you felt good having a cart (shopping trolley here in the UK), as I've seen big people over here leaning on them for support.

This video helped me to notice the issues I have with my weight like the short breaths from having a heavy chest, not being able to get comfortable in almost any position and the fact that food really does feel like a temporary relief, I never noticed until watching this video because it was all the norm obviously going all in hasn’t given you the extra leg bone density and massive calf’s that are required to move around like this which makes it easier and safer to move but all that weight on the shoulders most have been so much worse

I love that you showed the real struggle of obesity. Your incredibly in shape yet struggled to get a modified work out in. You even showed that the struggle that it leads to making food choices based more on effort level than healthiness. Great job on educating the public that people who are morbidity obese have a different weight loss journey than the rest of us. Anyone struggling to understand that a morbidity obese person cooking a healthy meal is a bigger accomplishment than an in shape person running a mile in under 8 minutes needs to watch this video. Your videos are always fun to watch yet can be a bit gimmicky but this was educational and supportive of a community that usually feels unsupported by KZreadrs who post stuff more in line with your regular content.

I have muscle and fat and weigh around what you did doing this test. Last December i broke my right arm and right leg. So all the muscle in those limbs turned into flabby fat. I wanna say its been over a month now since ive been walking normally again. But it wasnt until a few days ago that i changed my diet down to 5800 kj, am doing at minimum 10,000 steps a day. Going to sleep at 9.00-11:30pm and waking up 4-6am. Continuing this path, Im set to get back down to 80 kilos by December 31st. Falling off my escooter was life telling me i need to change in 2023 and live a better life in 2024.

I always have 2 problems with these obesity challenges: 1. All the weight was on your traps. Fat is evenly distributed among the body, so you should've had ankle weights, wrist weights, a weighted belt, weights in your pockets, etc. Distributed weight would make the challenge a little easier and more realistic. 2. Real overweight people don't just magically gain that weight overnight. It's a gradual process that takes months, years, even decades. Their bodies have plenty of time to "get used" to all that extra fat. For example, I'm about 80lbs heavier than I was at 18, but since I've gradually put that weight on over the course of a decade, I don't "feel" too out of shape. Granted, some of it is increased muscle mass in addition to fat, but still. IMO being active is more important for feeling good than losing weight, at least, up to a certain point.

I was a ninja turtle in disguise for 24 hours! 🐢 But in all seriousness, this was illuminating even though I knew most of the challenges at least in theory. I have experienced some excess weight as a teenager, and though I’ve been a consistent healthy weight my whole adult life, I have several good friends who have struggled lifelong with obesity. It was really interesting to see how the cycle of sitting and eating, especially junk food or food that was easy or instant to prepare, was the major point of pleasure for the day. Sedentary activity is obviously going to be less of a strain, and the issue of sleeping on your back vs leaning on the beanbag was telling. Even without the issue of the hard metal weights, there are a lot of very overweight people who have obstructive breathing issues when they sleep on their backs. The orthopedic issues are well known to me from talking with friends who deal with this issue personally. It can be particularly damaging to be overweight throughout a person’s formative years, because the joints (particularly the knees) brace themselves by leaning together, creating a “knock-knee” stance that is very difficult to correct. All in all I hope this video helps slimmer people understand how challenging life is for people who are overweight, and I hope it helps people struggling with obesity to feel a little more seen, and to gain a fresh perspective on the the freedoms that could be obtained by even losing some of their excess weight. Next I’d love to see this same experiment done with a legit “fat suit”, that’s weighted but in the same way a real morbidly obese body carries weight. You’d avoid the extreme pressure on your poor traps (😢😢) and be more comfortable without the hard cold metal factor. The danger of shifting your weight without injury would be different too, with the weight distributed more naturally, but you’d definitely experience many of the same issues you did in this challenge. I think a sequel with a properly constructed suit (when you can face it psychologically and physically again) would be really fascinating.
