I had a toy sand when I was a child that didn't get wet. There was some tools to use to let it into the water and after you got it out it was dry and sandy again. Only in the water it kept together as a kind of clay, so you could build things under the water. Don't know what happened to it but perhaps mom through it all away because it was too messy.

Silica aerogel isn't chemically very hazardous, but easily reduces to irritant dust, or on water just goes from floating to disintegrating as the pores saturate. This isn't that, unless in small fragments to puff up some dominant sealant or binder. But, what is being demonstrated here? (See the other thread with discussion of possible molecules for active and carrier/inert components.)

Depending on how long the shoot is and how awkward the movement is they might need to reapply it multiple times. Fun fact: Humans do not have a wetness receptor in our nerve system. When we feel wet, what we actually felt was temperature difference and we associated that as wet, rather than wetness itself. That's why during the winter we often have problem figuring out whether our washed clothes are still wet/damp or are they just cold. So when he said that he doesn't feel wet, what actually happened was that his body didn't feel the temperature difference between when he was inside and outside the pool. He would've felt the same sensation if had used a warming gel instead of aerogel.

Not completely though. Wet feels different on our skin compared to dry skin and it's not just temperature difference. But that's resistance and air movement. So his hair not being wet would be a big difference. Even if you were to make the water and air the same temperature (which sort of makes it feel like you're not wet as well) there's still a difference. But yeah. It's fascinating how "wet" is a combination of sensations based solely off of constant comparison vs pretty much any other sensation humans experience 😂😂😂

@@IceTTomIt was pretty funny, and literally the whole internet is full of "nerds". Literally, videogames are so popular, including rpgs, that you're the minority and the "weird one" for NOT liking them. Come on, it's not 2002. Most people play videogames. Reference humor is funny. 1 + 1 = 2. Get over it.

You can get a similar effect (not the completely dry part) but if you cover yourself with natural aloe from the leaves. It creates a "wet suit" basically but really a super cool effect in this vid

I accidentally did something similar once . My hand slipped, and i ended up pouring a high index bottle of embalming fluid on my hand. My hand was hydrophobic for about a month. Didn't feel good when it happened, but it was crazy to submurge my hand in water and pull it out dry. Made for an amusing month.

You realize that embalming fluid is highly carcinogenic. You should have gone to the hospital for treatment to remove it. At the University of Miam, some of the ingredients of embalming fluid were always labeled CARCINOGENIC.

You feel more buoyant due to the presence of increased air pressure. This pressure is due to the bubble that normally wouldn't exist if you didn't force the water away
