In 1988, a groundbreaking new group revolutionizes music and pop culture, changing and influencing hip-hop forever. N.W.A's first studio album, "Straight Outta Compton," stirs controversy with its brutally honest depiction of life in Southern Los Angeles. With guidance from veteran manager Jerry Heller, band members Ice Cube (O'Shea Jackson Jr.), Dr. Dre (Corey Hawkins), Eazy-E, DJ Yella and MC Ren navigate their way through the industry, acquiring fame, fortune and a place in history.

The only issues I had with the movie was they didn't show how in 1994 Eazy-E bounced back and he saw the distribution deal take off for him and the label. And the diss tracks between Dr. Dre and Eazy-E. Plus they stopped showing the timeline after 1993. But dope movie overall. Thanks for reviewing it!

Not really a sequel, they were shot at the same time, but the Lifetime movie of Michell'e didn't have any rights to N.W.A. Music. But yes some of the same actors did play in both movies, but not the entire cast. it is an ok movie but shows how it was a cut rate rip off of Straight Outta Compton.

My spouse has HIV (living a very healthy life thank God) and the Eazy E aids scene always hits me so hard. So glad we have made so many progressions in treatment to the point that it’s livable. Back in the 80s and 90s it was somewhat of a death sentence especially for black and brown people

First of all I wanna say God bless your union. It takes alot of courage with sharing that on a public platform, so you have my support on that. Ain’t nobody finna come sideways in this comment section. Secondly I did a lot of research after this movie and did see some stories of people saying even though their T Cell count was extremely low and was in icu and all that. And still survived. But being that this happened in the 90s. It’s like you said. It’s like a death sentence. I do know someone personally that did contract the virus and had to have surgery due to failing kidneys but he’s very much alive and well. God has the final say so. So God bless y’all fr. Trivia - Dj Jazzy Jeff did all the scratching, Eazy was never afraid of Suge knight and many people within the NWA universe said this never happened, it was dramatized for the movie. They tried to intimidate Eazy by saying they were going to kill his mother, Jerry taught E if he was ever in a blackmail situation sign whatever, but alter your signature then take it to court and handle it through litigation (under duress), that is what happened. When a deal was finally made to release Dre, Eazy go a percentage of everything Dre produced for 6+ years, that is why Dre Day is still Eazy's Payday. Also, Eazy had the backing of the Crips... and even the bloods (including Suge) knew Eazy was untouchable. If that went down as it happened Suge, Dre and everyone else would have been dead.

As far as Ice Cube on the bus with white people, Cube is the only one in NWA from LA, not Compton. 2 different cities right next door to each other. South Central (where Cube from) is LA, not Compton. They made Friday in the hood he grew up in. Also he was around white people because he went to Taft High School which is on the other side of the Hollywood Hills.

There are things in the movie that arent true it were hollywood bs gotta remember Eazy werent here to tell his side of the story if he were here to give his input the stpry would have played out different.Cube and Dre being co-directors did Eazy dirty they made him look like a punk while making themselves look gangsta.Cube got beat from Cold 187um aka Big Hutch from Above The Law but in the movie he mafde out him Da Lenchmob beat down ATL.Eazy did not cry when The Chronic were released he got paid off of the album he were never broke he and Ruthless were worth around 50$ mil at the time of his death he had just discover Bone Thugs had his artists on the label aswell as his own solo albums,he were also working on his own sound system and video games & had The Ruthless Radio show on 92.3 The Beat with Julio G.Dre & Cube had no idea what were going on in Eazys life after the break up so how tf would they know, haters. Many have said Suge never touched Eazy and if he did there would have been repurcussions.

A lot of the things in this movie has been inserted or embellished or just plain made up especially when it comes to Eazy, He was riding high on his own solo career which he started after the release of the first hit NWA album and was making money on the acts he signed to ruthless like J.J. Fad and made money on Dre's mega hit chronic album because of the contract dre signed that got Eazy part of the profits despite him being at Deathrow. So he was far from being broke in real life but the movie straight out lie he failing music wise and money wise. He was ready to launch several new acts before he died, the new one he managed to get out there was Bone Thugs N Harmony who ended up winning a grammy and was huge thanks to the crossroads remix which was a tribute to Eazy. Eazy was the only one as well as Ren who dressed like you see them from NWA the others didnt look like that especially dre and yella.

Ice Cube is the only one that wasn’t from Compton, he’s from South Central LA and was bussed to a good school ( hence the gentrified scenery 😂) The police used to pull over and beat people up for playing F*ck the police in their cars, they busted my homie’s head with his pull out radio once. Rap was still pretty new then so a lot of people didn’t apply music theory to doing it. They were also the first rappers to use profanity as much as they did, before that you might have heard a word or 2 in rap songs. When NWA first dropped they blew our minds cause nobody at the time (except for maybe Ice T) was that raw. I also don’t like how they downplayed REN in this movie, he was definitely a strong factor in the crew.

Eazy was the bank... that is how N.W.A. started. The 1992 riots were off the chain. for days LA was in turmoil. Businesses, Black Korean and White owned were burned to the ground. Motorists were dragged from their cars and beaten in the middle of the street. When it was all said and done over $1,000,000,000 in damage was done to S. Central LA.

Just a tip: don't believe everything you see on this movie Here are few examples of when the movie wasn't accurate 1. When they performed F the police the police really chased them, but all they wanted was autographs, not arrest them 2. Saying that Cube wrote all the lyrics: Most of the lyrics were wrote by MC Ren and The D.O.C. 3. They didn't said anything about the Death Row VS Eazy-E beef and without showing this it made Eazy look like a bitch 4. 2pac had a problem with Dre and Suge even said they were never on a studio in the same time
