to answer your questions 1: drowning and falling both are terrifying. We do not have gills or wings. If you need an apparatus to survive, such as an oxygen tank or parachute, it's not worth it. 2: I heard of that diver case before. He took out a large insurance policy on her before the trip.

Whenever Mr. Ballen says 'scuba diving/diver' you know it's going to end badly. Because I have a fear of drowning, I usually don't watch those. My other fear is being disabled (physically or mentally) and living that way for the rest of my life in misery. I'm in my mid 50s, so only 10 to 20 yrs from these things are possibly happening. I would choose death over this.
