'I wasn't alone': soldier awarded Victoria Cross for bravery in Afghanistan
Australian soldier Corporal Daniel Keighran received the Victoria Cross for Australia after risking his life in Afghanistan for a friend who was injured on the battlefield.
“I risked my life by exposing my position to enemy fire, I suppose, to create a diversion realistically and numerous times whilst my team and the rest of the team provided first aid and care to get him off the hill and into a sort of safe location,” he told Sky News host Erin Molan.
“I always say that look, I wasn’t alone.
“I have no doubts at all that I wouldn’t be speaking to you if it wasn’t for my mates and my team supporting me on that day.”

From what? Do you seriously think the people of Afghanistan were going to launch a Normandy beach style invasion on Bondi or something? They were never a threat to Australia. We invaded and killed a sovereign people for a group of pychopaths. Thousands of innocent people died. Many more than on 9/11. Mate, we were played like a fiddle. There was no honor in that, clearly.

This warrior and Australian Patriot is a man of honour. His Country and the UK owe him a debt that can never be paid in full. I never cease to be amazed that we can still find men of his stature who are prepared to come forward in troubled, dangerous times.

Actually it is only Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, well, His Majesty King Charles III now, can award anyone the Victoria Cross, as Commander In Chief, Australia itself cannot award the VC to anyone, it can recommend someone for it to the British Crown but it can not award one - FACT. Victoria Cross is traditionally made from bronze from cannons captured by British during Crimean War,, they are each handmade/crafted by Hancocks and Company (Jewellers) of London. Can only be awarded by the British Crown, they are world's highest award for valour.

It is one of the 2 highest awards for valour, it is the highest in the Commonwealth. The other being the CMOH.
