This. You can get the cops involved for your safety, but, depending on the reaction of the craiglist sellers, not press charges. Have the cops there to assist and be the mediator between you and the party suspected of stealing the gear (they may have bought it from the actual thief and are reselling it - not knowing they were stolen to begin with) and make a decision on charges based on what is discovered by the cops

As a straight, white, cis boy slug, I gotta say, I've never once felt attacked or ostracized by anything said on this podcast. I've been here since the beginning, and as best as I can tell, the 3 ladies have all gone through a glow up by having this platform, growing their friendship, and building a supporting community. And its all been by being loving and funny and sharing personal experiences that relate to real world experiences for women. So many comedy podcasts are just generic interviews talking about the comedy scene and its been done to beyond death, but I don't feel that way at all about Trash Tuesday. Even if the topic is stand up, its from a perspective I never hear and it relates to things other than the craft. I came in because I found the women hilarious and cool on their other platforms, but this podcast has actually taught me things about sex, power roles, dating, mental health, and that's just me. I can't imagine how important it has probably been to women thinking and feeling similar things and going through similar experiences. As long as the ladies stay honest and compassionate and keep matching that with their awesome senses of humour, I think Trash Tuesday will not just be funny content, but actually important.

Khalyla, I know you're trying to be the bigger person. But they went and stole on purpose because they knew how expensive those items were. They are malicious people who intend to steal. If you let them off the hook they will continue to rob people and think they'll continue to not get caught. Please send the info to the police. Trash Tuesday and Christopher Hitchens was not a crossover I was expecting. I don't believe Hitch genuinely believed women weren't funny, or at least less capable of being funny. If you watch the GQ video of him talking about thee article, he was laying down the gauntlet for feminine women to become mainstream comedians. He was a satirist and a polemicist, and I think he would be overjoyed seeing so many funny, sardonic and beautiful women, like yourselves, really breaking into the comedy mainstream.

You could ask the police if you can get your stuff back without pressing charges? I get Khalylas point of view. Having a record just destroys ones potential for rehabilitation. Once you've got a charge you can't get a job and become more dependant on criminal activity. What if it was one of their kids who stole the gear, perhaps due to addiction? Now their entire life and prospects are destroyed and the opportunity to right their life threatened.

@@ellaova I get what you’re saying and of course it’s very gracious and sweet of Khalyla to be so forgiving, it was just hard to watch her giving them the benefit of the doubt knowing the kind of stuff that’s happened to her. Plus, bashing in someones car window isn’t exactly non-violent, and petty theft is stuff under $500 last time I checked. I agree we have an unforgiving penal system but I think that’s a different issue. If she doesn’t want to press charges, that’s totally her choice.

There's an old folktale related to Annie's story about the girl stealing her joke and then dismissing it as cheap once she got caught- in the folktale it's a fox who claims that all the grapes he can't reach are sour anyway, when really he's just mad he can't reach them. I think there's a related phrase of "sour grapes" in reference to the folktale too. But yeah Esther is exactly right, it's the same thing insecure men do when they're rejected.

I would definitely go and get my shit back. I doubt that it was their first time stealing stuff. I worked at a local family owned tex mex fast casual restaurant and on Cinco de Mayo, the busiest day of the year, an Ubereats driver stole my entire tip jar which could have easily had $30+ in it 🥲 Luckily, we had cameras, and I am very petty, but I also was certain that this guy had done those before. So I called the local police department and they came (and a nice officer gave me $20 🥺), we gave the police the license plate number, and the next morning an officer came back and brought back my tip jar with about $20 in it. I’m sure that’s not everything but I just let it go since there was no way to know exactly how much money was in it originally and by that point, we already called Ubereats to have his account banned and I’m hoping that the police showing up at his house scared him enough.

Ugh, I had my gifted $$ winter boots stolen last year while I was at THE DOCTORS OFFICE for my CHRONIC PAIN/ILLNESS appt. 🤦‍♀️ these boots were sentimental because they were from my partner & I was wanting these types of warm boots for chilly as frozen hell Canada since 2007. After a frustrating appt, I saw that my boots were gone and the clinic staff were not helpful, I was overwhelmed from a garbage appt, in pain & had to walk to my car blocks away in socks, -26 Celsius & just cried. I’m on disability that barely covers my meds per month and it just felt so gross to have that taken from me. I did think that maybe these people were hard up so I could get their side but at the same time it’s such a gross feeling to have something taken from you that way. Saw that they put the boots on fb marketplace, could tell they were mine due to the insoles I put in and I contacted them but no reply & saw that they got sold. I had let the police knkw & felt like an idiot for calling about boots but they validated me by saying “no, this is a theft. This counts. Don’t feel bad” but they never helped out even though I told them we had found the person selling them. Was just.. a bad time.. very violating feeling. Ick. 😫sorry K 💖💜🌹
