Yes and no, Fast Car used him and put him into bouts where he was well overmatched and could have been seriously and permanently hurt. Hearn owed him a few favours if he's honest with himself.

Allen was never seriously outmatched skill-wise. Even vs Ortiz is questionable since Ortiz was found juiced for that fight. Not really Hearn's fault that he never bothered to train and prepare properly.

Hearn screwed him on the Ortiz, Whyte and Yoko fights. Dave lost a chunk of his tongue against Ortiz FFS and got a couple of grand before tax. It’s about time he makes some serious coin from the Hearns.

I like Dave Allen, but he should learn to keep his mouth shut. He is a very average fighter. He won a past his sell by date Browne, and really has lost against average fighters. Price is his level, Povetkin will knock him clean out within a few rounds.

Dave Allen is such a funny and likeable guy people like him because he's honest and just like your average joe. I think Dave knows he can't beat povetkin ( very slim chance he might) but can see that it's a great payday and you can't knock a man earning hundreds of thousands when he used to fight for small money in boxing terms.

With the greatest respect I think you are missing the point. Whyte is the best heavyweight out there outside AJ and FURY and even that is up for debate. He’s obviously a very bright bloke the way he’s addressed his own weaknesses his work ethic and discipline. Look at where he started. He’s a conqueror. Allen bless him will be used as cannon fodder so the bigger boys can make a serious payday fighting a people’s champ but in all honest and no disrespect (balls of steel for even getting in the ring) will be seen as an easy fight for anyone with pedagogy. Making a fight where you can make serious money on an easy opponent will be infinitely easy to make then Whyte vs Wilder as Whyte smashes Wilder perfect style for Whyte. He’s been taking out people with a punchers chance since he could throw a straight right. I’m personally nervous seeing Allen starting to believe the hype.

To be fair they have offered Dillian a shot, just it wasn't the deal he felt he could accept. Fair play to both parties in that respect. The problem for Dillian is he's gone down the WBC route and Hayman is freezing him/Eddie out.

There's loads of unsold tickets for this event, like Allen said himself its not a great card really. Whyte is a boderline main event, Chisora is over the hill and Dave Allen is likeable but not a superstar. The big money in boxing is a bubble that's ready to burst
