‘I wanted to pay tribute’: Mark Knight on sketching police inspector Amy Scott

Cartoonist Mark Knight has joined Sky News host Steve Price to explain his decision behind choosing which hero to sketch from the Bondi Junction stabbing.
“There were several people that stood up and ran towards it (danger),” Mr Knight told Sky News Australia host Steve Price.
“We had the ‘Bollard Man’ which I was considering, we had of course the tragic security guard who was killed.
“I think Amy the police inspector stood out - she was the first responder.
“I wanted to pay some sort of tribute to her.”

If we had fire arms there could be 30 people holding a gun shooting at other people holding a gun. There was an episode on Get Smart with this exact situation where no one shot because they were afraid of being shot. As Max left the building you heard Bang Bang Bag ect and Max said of course in this situation you only need one twit

It wouldn't have to be guns alone, but just being allowed to defend ourselves and legally carry the means for self defence could have had fewer fatalities.

Under twenty metres the knife armed guy has the advantage. It takes a second and a half to get a sight picture and fire a round, another second to assess your shot, realign your sight picture and put another round in. Unless you incapacitate on the first round, a committed knife wielder will have closed the distance and stabbed or slahed you. Basic combat knowledge. Before you make stupid insulting comments you ought to educate yourself. Bet you lot would be pissing your pants and running like little girls.

Hero When an average man who has no weaponry advantage, like the french guys who stood up to him at the cost of their own safety,no handgun or formal training then that is a hero. unfortunately, the end of this cartoon, in real life, is that the 5'4" inch lady cop runs onto a 6'3" man with bad intent, that overpowers her, steals her firearm and shoots her dead. so, while we can praise lady cops for their bravery, we must admit that the rest of us are putting her in harms way in an unevenly balanced matchup. it's quite similar to men in wigs, playing in ladies' sports league, with the exception of not being overtaken and possibly killed.
