"I want to lift 550kg" | ROAD TO 505 powered by Gymshark | EP3 | Pavlo Nakonechnyy

Спорт

Wide Pavlo as he has become known, stormed onto the Strongman scene in 2021 with a big reputation and even bigger goals. In 2022 he realised one goal by winning his first Giants Live event, now only one thing stands between him and his next goal- 505kg.
He's battled the odds in all aspects of life and competition, in 2023 can he overcome them all and take the Strongman Deadlift record?
There's $55,000 on the line. Will anyone do it?

Would have had it at the 2021 deadlift championships if he didn't get sick 2 weeks before and drop 15 kg of bodyweight. His training in the lead up to that one was insane: easy looking 400 kg for 6, (probably had a couple more reps) 420 for 4, 430 for 3, a 455 that looked super fast and clean. As opposed to Pieman and Ivan who struggle at lockout Pavlo's lockouts are always clean and crisp, no question. sadly after the start of 2022 certain things in his country made it more difficult to be consistent with training, coupled with a couple injuries for him. He's still young and has a ton of potential, if he can string together a year or so of good training with no injuries he's probably got the best shot at this...

It’s honestly really fortunate that, despite this war, we’re currently seeing Ukrainian athletes do so well on the Strongman scene. Puts Ukraine in people’s minds and demonstrates that Ukrainians are a people with ungodly strength and potential. The more people think about Ukraine and see these athletes competing at this insane level, the more they’re going to want to support the country itself. Strongman fans aren’t incredibly numerous, but we’re a loud stubborn bunch, and I can almost guarantee a significant number of us are going to be pressuring our MPs to support Ukraine. It’s a positive feedback loop and I love to see it. Great video Giants Live, excited to see the Comp in a few weeks

Y’all remember when Eddie lifted the 500kgs? He said he had to think about the worst possible thing and go into a dark place, that’s the mindset these new dudes need. And also no chance in hell for 550 maybe in like 102 years from now

Is it even physically possible for a human to lift 550?

I don't want to be an armchair doctor, but realistically? No. Eddie was a heart-attack waiting to happen by his own admission in training for the 500, and Thor was struggling to breathe just talking to camera in training for the 501. Not saying that 550 is impossible, just that the person who could pull it would have to be so huge that they'd die of organ-failure before they ever did it.

Why wouldn't it be? No evidence to suggest there is any limit to what the human body can lift.

@@Tomm5997 There absolutely is. I know it's not the fun answer we all want to hear, but come on dude there's only so much the human body can take.
