I Wanna Be Loved - The Andrews Sisters

Ойын-сауық

I couldn't find a recording of this song so I decided to post it up. LaVerne & Maxene joins singing with Patty a bit later.
I guess you could call it rare, since it hasn't been uploaded? Maybe it has but it's not under this name....
Credit also goes to Gordon Jenkins for the arrangement and for conducting the orchestra and chorus (thank you jgubenko).

I like just about everything the Andrews Sisters ever recorded, but this song is my favorite. I think Patty is just about perfect with her solo.

This song and "I Can Dream Can't I" I remember hearing as a child. My brother played these recordings over and over. He was 11 years older than me and it is so great to hear them again. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for posting this. Have it on an old 78, and to schlep those out is a pain. Great song, and no, not rare. It was a top song in its day (1950), my mother sang it.

@jayseah32 I know. I was just thinking about how things back then weren't supposed to suggest anything. But again, they were appropriate *unlike some lyrics today right?*. Yeah, some people must have lived it all right! Those times must have been WONDERFUL to be living in!

Thanks for posting this version. I only know the version from Dinah Washington and Etra James. To be honest; I like this version better

@@notesl5576 Probably to do with licensing agreements. Everybody has to pay somebody off to get things done. No, it wasn't banned because it was bad, it was just contractual provisions.

@@leelarson107 It was too racy. It described a more mature sexual encounter, no mention of marriage. This wasn't Doris Day getting away with A Guy is a Guy because he marries her at the end, it's about foreplay and more. "I'm in no mood to resist" and "I wanna be kissed until I tingle". "Embrace until our heartbeatrs intermingle, wrong or right" was the kicker.

Dinah Washington did a version of it. It was terrible, like she was trying to sound like Eartha Kitt.

Billy Eckstine did a great version of it, also. Not as popular, but I think it was better --although it's a song that could equally sound good by a male or female ❤
