RIP Queen Elizabeth II. I’m a Chinese immigrant in New Zealand, one of the Commonwealth realms, and I consider myself a staunch monarchist. When my parents grew up under communism, they told me that British Hong Kong was a refuge for people escaping from persecution and violent revolutions. I don’t care what the ‘anti colonialists’ say, but Her Majesty was a symbol of hope for me, and she’ll forever be my Queen. She served graciously for 70 years.

In my country the British monarchy was/is the symbol of those who stood against Hitler and our liberation from Nazi tyranny. I know it is today the fashion to bash the British past but we should be brave enough to speak out for the possitive things the Brits gave the world. We own it to those who gave their today for freedom. Like the fight to abolish slavery and for sacrificing their empire to stop the Nazis and fascists. The Battle of Britain was more than a victory for one but for all of us. And be assured they could have made a deal with Hitler to safe the empire, he was willing to talk as he feared his Krieg Marine would not be able to defeat the Royal Navy.

It's on the national BBC channel... Every once a while, it is broadcasted on the sunday services. And yes, you can sing along to hymns as you go along on a Sunday even if you cannot go to church, or whatever. So... Songs of Praise is still on. I have this one in my bookmark...
I am a Japanese fan of yours, and when I learned of your existence, I understood for the first time in my life what it means to be a good singer. I have never been so jealous of English people as I was when I discovered you. I wish it were easier for us to go and listen to you sing live. I was very sad when your concert was cancelled after you came to Japan because of the Corona disaster. As a student, I am not able to travel freely between countries, but I would like to visit London someday.

You can listen to some very high quality version of this song too. One of the most beautiful CD is done by a lovely Welsh lady called "Katherine Jenkins".... You can buy her CD. Whereas I have this version that I love more bookmarked.... It's a little bit more folky... and it was covered in a local BBC drama.. which I thought was cute. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y5Wo1s9_gMeWhqQ.html It's very folky and I love it. I've not listened to such songs since school days...

In the UK, it is "celebrated" on both the 11th (Remembrance Day), and the closest Sunday to the 11th (Remembrance Sunday). On both these day, cannons will fire at 11am for a minute silence around the nation. This is coupled with poppies being worn by almost everyone, where the money donated from their sale goes to the Royal British Legion, supporting both those who have served, and the families of those currently serving.

"I Vow to Thee, My Country" is a British patriotic hymn, created in 1921 when music by Gustav Holst had a poem by Sir Cecil Spring Rice set to it. The music originated as a wordless melody, which Holst later named "Thaxted", taken from the "Jupiter" movement of Holst's 1917 suite The Planets. So credit for the music goes to the British composer Gustav Holst. This was probably first performed in 1921 and became a common element at Armistice memorial ceremonies, especially after it was published as a hymn in 1926. Holst adapted the music from a section of Jupiter from his suite The Planets to create a setting for the poem. The music was extended slightly to fit the final two lines of the first verse. At the request of the publisher Curwen, Holst made a version as a unison song with orchestra (Curwen also published Sir Hubert Parry's unison song with orchestra, "Jerusalem").
What can I say. It is now 2022, and we have so much sadness in this world of ours. This is such an amazing recording. I had never heard of this gentleman before, but his rendition brought tears to my eyes. Such a wonderful voice. Thank You.

Yeah we humans are poisoning this planet and mother nature wouldn't be very happy about it i bet..
There are tears, what a beautiful rendition of this hymn which has been a favourite of mine for ever. Thank you Ramin.
Thank you for showing the lyrics. As an American (although of mostly British descent) I'm not familiar with this song -- but it's beautiful, stirring, and honors so many and so much.💖 And thank you Ramin for your beautiful and moving rendition! Your voice is a gift that keeps on giving. 💕😘

That black hair, the beard, the voice, the handsome face…he’s got it all!
"And there's another country I heard of long ago..." that entire verse is beautiful. I long for that country, also, and for that king who we may not see. RIP Queen Elizabeth. May you rest in the presence of the King who never dies, in the kingdom that will never end. Hebrews 11:16
Wow, what a voice. So beautiful!!!
This should be our national anthem it is about our country and not just asking god to save one man The King I vow to thee my country has so much more soul and meaning. Charles change it now !!!!!!
Beautiful performance. It is giving me major vibes of Ramin’s performance of Anthem x
A beautiful rendition of a wonderful song, so appropriate for the occasion. Thank you

To those who don't know he is Canadian and born in Iran but his family had to flee in 1978 because his father was in the Shah's Imperial Guard and that wasn't good at the time, I suppose.

He was born in September 1978. The Iranian revolution happened in February 1979. It was sometime during his birth and when he was five months old when he had to leave Iran.
I have been watching him in Holby City, and I never realised what a wonderful voice he had...beautiful!
