I worked at Somerleyton & Reedham Swing Bridges from 1990 to 2011 as a railway signalman and loved every minute of the job and in that time I certainly saw some things on the Broads for example boats crashing into each other, hitting the bridges, people falling overboard, topless girls on deck in the summer, ( that was a sight I can tell you). I was made redundant in 2011 and brought a little Broads cruiser, V178 was the number, to travel around the Broads and got so much pleasure from it. They are tricky to maneuver until you get used to them, so you done well with your day boat Tim. The general rule is pass Port to Port or as Port is the left side, left to left, keeping to the Starboard (right), side of the river. Beautiful day you had for filming by the way. Thumbs up👍👍👍

Loving the drone footage. My dad was the original skipper on the first Broads Tours Paddle Steamer back in the 70s. It was interesting seeing how you coped with manoeuvring (not driving) your craft. At the Horning Swan you could have just given it full forward throttle and swept over to the left before nosing into the mooring. You only need to tie off the boat at one point and normally people are ken to help. Reversing in a boat is in straight lines only. Also worth mentioning the many holidaymakers who have died over the years believing the Broads were safe to swim in. They are not. The reeds will tangle around your legs and as the current comes in they will twist and drag you down.

Hi Tim, great to see the boat trip with all the views, wildlife and waving really enjoyed it. When we did this last year we were told to pop into Woodforde's Brewery for a few bottles and then pop into Roy's for a french stick etc. The locals in Scratby on our holiday told us that we would not get a parking spot and just have a picnic down stream. Thanks for doing these vids as we look forward to the notification of Friday's now...KR Steve & Kim

Wow Tim manning your own Boat! And what a smart little Boat! Beautiful Sunny Day & life at 4 miles an hour sounds just right for me😂 Never heard of the place where you are sailing ⛵Wroxham. I've been to Wrexham in Wales but that isn't the same! You seem to be cruising along nicely overtaking the slower vessels. You'd be disturbing the peace beeping your horn it looks very tranquil. The prices aren't bad at all for the novelity of driving your own Boats £65 maximum for 4 hours! Wroxham Broad looks lovely waters to sail on. I wouldn't like to be on a Canoe there or anywhere they look too uncomfortable & like they would sink given half a chance! The views & wildlife is impressive especially that Heron! Nice to be able to have a drink halfway. It's like watching Great Canal Journeys. Always make me feel very calm on a slow boat. I've been on a Barge on a Canal & I loved it! Those posh houses with their own boats moored up! Shame there's no Toilet on the Boat that could be uncomfortable hanging on to the nearest Pub 😂 Parking looks chaotic! Didn't think you had to pay to park up a Boat! I thought mooring up was free! Looking at the Pub isn't much good if you need to go to the Toilet!😂 Such a shame there was no empty space to moor up so you could have some lunch in that nice Pub. The Paddle Steamers look quaint & old-fashioned love to have an evening cruise on that! A very pleasurable cruise one summer a few years ago Tim A very relaxing vlog!

So many amazing houses on the water's edge. It did look very busy I was concerned when you were doing that U turn 😦 We visited Wroxham but found it very busy, many more slightly quieter places I'm sure. We went in a wildlife boat trip from Horsey wind pump. I can't wait to visit the Norfolk Suffolk area tjamks to your videos but heck of a way from near Manchester . Looking forward to next Friday to see where you've been . X

Beautiful! Reminds me of the California delta we used to wakeboard there. Everything is the same except for the thatched roof houses. Would love to live in a place like that. Dreams are free lol!

Exploring the broads is one the most relaxing holidays ever. Wroxham seems to be practically owned by Roy’s of wroxham.lol. You have to give way to sailing boats . Sometimes it’s seems your are in the jungle when your right out in the rural parts.

Horning is a lovely place and gets busy, as you noticed though mooring is limited and its down to luck if you manage to get a space. If I recall though the Swan Inn as mooring spaces just for day boats. My tip though would be to take a few sandwiches & a drink , moor up in a nice quiet spot and just enjoy.

Had a great holiday there in 1982 as a 21 yo. Me and two mates hired for a week - World Cup Final was on Italy vs Germany - some German lads moored opposite us at Geldleston Lock - we had some lively banter then found out how powerful Merrydown Cider was in the pub afterwards - good news is you can drive a boat at 4mph the following morning whilst still p1ssed whereas a car at 40 mph on the Queens Highway is a no-no lol - we ended up with a designated driver
