    “Knowledge isn’t power until it is applied.” ― Dale Carnegie 1888 - 1955 “Knowledge is only potential power. It becomes power only when, and if, it is organized into definite plans of action, and directed to a definite end.” ― Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich: The Original 1937 Unedited Edition Napoleon Hill 1883 - 1970 Don't be affraid to name drop the authors of famous quotes as I think it garners more attention and credibility from your audience. Think and Grow Rich was the first book I ever recall reading. My brother gave it to me and I read it several times in my late teens and early twenties as a high school dropout before finishing high school and college. I had no idea what it was all about but it made me realize I could do more than push a broom at the end of my shift. This is probably one of the most profound quotes of all time, when examined in real life. You can know everything but if you do nothing, that is exactly what you will become. That is an original from me.

  • @AnthonyVicino

    Sounds like Dale and Napoleon said virtually the same thing at virtually the same time. Who would you credit authorship, too? I try to attribute any famous quotes I use, but there are some things which are just so broadly said that they've fallen out specific attribution.

    Amazing recommendations. Thank you! Would be very helpful if you made a video on what method you use to read a book and get most from it. Do you make notes? Read it multiple times? What if you start losing concentration or are too tired? I think reading a book the proper way is one of the most important skills a person can develop, if not the most important one. Absorbing the knowledge from a book, adding it to the mental model (or being open minded enough to allow it to challenge your mental model), getting back to it (reading the notes made while reading it?), is what changes habits, and thus makes a person better. So yes... A video on what's your method on reading books would be very helpful :)

    I realized that the secret to making a million is saving for a better investment. I always tell myself you don't need that new Maserati or that vacation just yet. That mindset helped me make more money investing. For example last year I invested 80k in stocks and made about $246k, but guess what? I put it all back and traded again and now I am rounding up close to a million

    Love your content Anthony. Sincerely, you do a great job. But, one thing nobody seems to address: How do you carve out the time to read? What if you have so many books to read - where do you start? Do you study/read several books at once, or do you read one book at a time?

  • @AnthonyVicino

    @AnthonyVicino

    3 ай бұрын

    I read every night before bed and occasionally during the day if I have time. I don't really carve out specific time anymore, but that's mainly because it's so ingrained in my routines. If you want to make reading a priority, you've got to schedule it into your day. I tend to read 2-3 books at the same time, and just read the one i'm in the mood for in the moment.

    @@AnthonyVicino Anthony, you're truly remarkable. In a future video, perhaps you could explore the significant mindset obstacles hindering wealth accumulation. Napoleon Hill mentioned guilt as one of these blocks. Personally, I envisioned immense wealth but found myself grappling with feelings of shame and guilt. In response, I first affirmed that I deserved this wealth, then that I was worthy of it. However, these affirmations didn't entirely dispel my guilt until I declared that I am entitled to this abundance. I found this realization interesting; I think that the word "entitled" is more potent in its ability to obliterate guilt. It seemed to shift my perspective and eliminate my feelings of guilt. 🚀 And it made me ponder if there are other mental barriers I might be unaware of. Your videos are incredibly empowering, particularly to me, and I'm sincerely grateful for the positive impact they've had. Thank you for your valuable content. Much respect and blessings to you. 🙏

    I found Mindset quite a hard read. You learn early on what growth mindset is, and then it's in some ways just 300 pages of driving that idea home... I didn't make it all that far to be honest, but it's juice was in many ways summarised completely by your summary. Grit was another hard one. David C Baker passed on a great tip for reading powerful books. Read the Introduction up to chapter one, then read the conclusion or last chapter. 9/10 you'll get everything from the book in just that simple method. Then afterwards, you're free to read the book in it's entirety. If you like what you've just read from it, then you read the whole thing and get to enjoy the whole thing and make more mental connections.

  • @AnthonyVicino

    That's a totally fair point about Mindset and Grit. Both probably didn't warrant a full book given how they unpacked the concept.

    Here's another way to think about it. The main importance of the books is to internalise the lessons, for them to actually make a difference in our lives. It may vary from person to person, but I think a 300 page book where the majority of time is spent driving the point home will be enough time spent to get it into your head. The more it gets into your head, the more your thoughts change. Which means the more your feelings change. Which mean the more your actions change. Idk, just my 2 cents.

    Sir, another great video. Have you considered doing a video of your 2024 TBR books? Like to see what is on your list for this year. May I recommend: Necessary Ending, when you end things in your life and Ultralearning, how to master hard skills (prior recommendation), but good book. Again thoroughly enjoyed the video. R.

The reason I say that is because you use some really good ones in each video, and then expound on them with great insights. Just food for thought. Much success to you Sir in 2024 and I’m looking forward to the podcast R.

I’ve learned that wealth is pretty easy to have , the problem people have is they know what they need to do but still don’t do nothing about it. So procrastination is the real problem in getting rich. Find out out what is it that your good at, then turn it into a service. The more the value of the service the better the wealth.

    Nice to meet ya, little brother. I talk a bit about how to read better at the beginning of this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pqCkqdx6qtqnirw.html But my best advice is to highlight and take notes as you're reading. Then, when you complete the book, write out the main concepts of the book from memory as though you were trying to teach it to a friend. I've found the act of trying to teach something helps me learn something way faster. Don't worry about reading for speed. Just spend a certain amount of time each day reading and stick to that. If that's 10 minutes/day, that's fine. Start there and build up.

    @AnthonyVicino, what's your opinion on audio books as opposed to actually reading a book?

  • @AnthonyVicino

    @AnthonyVicino

    3 ай бұрын

    Listening to an audiobook is a passive activity. Which is why most people prefer it. It doesn't require any effort, which means they can multitask (drive, clean, emails) while consuming a book. Reading, on the other hand, is active and requires your concentrated focus to get the information in your brain. In my experience, information that's easily consumed doesn't lead to deep understanding. I listen to books for entertainment, but not when I'm not trying to really learn a topic.\

    Step one: Don't overwhelm yourself by trying to take on too much. Consistency beats Intensity. Just show up and read a few pages every day. You'll make it through all the books faster than you think. Step two: Read in whatever way works best for you. I tend to cycle between 3-4 books at a time because I never know exactly what I'm gonna be in the mood for at any given moment. I usually read a light/easy book, a more technical book, and a biography at the same time.
