Kevin is very blessed to be living in your sanctuary. Not only was he born very angry, he was gonna get put down for it too. But ended up living with someone who can tolerate his rage and gave him a wife and children. Kevin may not know it but you are the best thing that ever happened to him.

@@GenericDanit’s actually vary common for “highly” intelligent life (like emus) to be too smart to be successful in captivity cause they don’t really have all too much freedom. Is that to say that the zoo’s or rescues are doing something wrong on their end in a general sense? No! Absolutely not. It’s like raising a child… but that child never matured passed a toddler… or rather, the behaviors mature but the “smarts” don’t. Tho that’s mostly my speculation

Hello Uncle Ben! Not sure if you know this, but the male Rhea will only start incubating eggs until a certain amount of eggs have been laid in his nest. This is to ensure that all eggs will hatch at the same time (giving all eggs a equal chance of survival). So he might not actually be a bad father, you just haven't given him the chance yet. Of course, in the wild, male Rhea usually have a harem of several females who all lay their eggs in the same nest, so Karen might not be able to produce enough eggs for his father instinct to trigger. Maybe you could try giving Kevin some more dud eggs and see if that will push Kevin into parent mode? I would love to see him at least try to be a father.
