Vice City literally changed me. I was just starting college at the time, and my whole wardrobe became pastel. All I listened to was 80s pop. I don't know if another game has affected me that much. Great video as always, Beav!

Vice City got me into 80s Music! Before VC I only got to listen to 80s stuff here & there on KROQ & I was too young to tell which songs were from that era! 😃
There's no way you've never played Vice City, It's an all time classic and my personal favorite GTA!

@BlooTeg rockstar games also released liberty city stories and Vice city stories in 2005 and 2006 in between gta san andreas and gta 4 so it's more like 6 games in 7 years
The "OG" GTA: Vice City and GTA:SA (the physical ones sold around the release dates) were the best teachers that taught me English and overall made me interested in that language. I can't blame anyone who get's stuck on the RC helicopter mission. That mission is stressful! (P.S: Hall & Oates' - "Out of Touch" is included in the soundtrack too. It is now sung by famous Engineer from Team Fortress 2)
Vice City has a special place in my heart. Me playing as kid in cold winter nights really warms my soul. So many hours driving, exploring the city while listening to awesome radio or just lookin at ladies in polygon bikinis.
Love the 80s vibe. I’m nostalgic about an era that I wasnt even born in

Now its time to play vice city stories because is underated and very good
I really don't remember any game having as big of a hype amongst way under-aged kids as Vice City. Some random kids I didn't even know came and asked 12'ish year old me in a grocery store if I had Vice City. They were visually jelous of the fact that my parents didn't check age limitations. Back then Vice City really felt limitless. Like you could do everything and anything.

The lawyer character was based on the lawyer from Carlitos Way played by Sean Penn. Its a good al Pacino movie id recommend if ya havnt seen it.

I played this around 2006 when i was 9, i didnt even know about San andreas till a year later , so i played this for hours exploring the city, and inventing stories in my head, it wasnt just the game it was our imagination too the thing that made it so special
Feel like we had the same childhood lol, sunk countless hours into san andreas and just spent time driving around vice city i dont think i even did a single mission

Absolute shocked you never played GTA Vice City. The game still timeless to this day. And hoo boy i can relate for you at the start, never play much back at internet cafe, probably first 3 missions and dipped.

PS2 was the golden era. The perfect mix of science and art. We'll never get that again. rip
Thanks for recommending this graphics mod, I've intalled it for gta san andreas and it looks amazing, and installation was also very simple. Great video as always 👍🏼
I thank San Andreas for the flight school. It helped me beat the RC Goblin and RC Baron missions, allowing me to actually enjoy the game to its fullest.
I love 3D era GTA games the most, Vice City is my fav next to San Andreas. Vice City is a special place for me because it has developed my music taste the most. Fun fact, there is a mod that changes the game into Need for Speed Underground 2, although I don't know what is the quality of the said mod (I used to play it for a while when I was small+ it was all written in Russian). Keep making great videos pal!
For anyone having aiming problems, the version of classic axis is a bit old, so I'd replace it with an updated version.
Oh man, I have some serious memories attached to VC. It's easily my favourite of the series by a landslide. Ray Liotta kills it as Tommy Vercetti, and he is still my favourite protagonist on all the games. I had to 100% the game twice. I couldn't get past 99% the first time because I had to cheat to beat the race with Hilary (that shit was so hard) but I got him legit the second time and mastered VC. I still have my original physical copy. This game came out shortly after I finished high school and it took far too much of my time back then. I 100% San Andreas as well, but I completely lost all interest in it after the first time and never played it again. It's great too, but I just could not get back into it

Im so glad you found a way to play it as it was made, not that ridiculous mobile port that they called a remaster..
That RC helicopter lever was the bane of every playthru I tried. Beating that level felt better than beating the game
This is my favorite game of all time, ever since that ps2 startup to now, for 15 years since the day i started playing this game as my first game ever, no game can replicate the same atmostphere, the same character,.. even the release date lines up with my birthday! (27th of October) a once in a liftime experience.
Vice City is my favourite GTA game, I'm getting back to it more often than to San Andreas, IV or V. Music, 80's vibe is perfect in it. Even just driving around and listening to music is extremely entertaining.
Vice city is my favourite game. Been playing this on and off for almost 20 yrs.
Vice City is probably my favorite game in the GTA series to this day. I do love San Andreas and IV and V are great, but the overall vibe of Vice City still makes me want to go back and play it all again every couple of years. Combat really shows it age, but just driving around that huge street with the hotels while listening to the soundtrack feels like home to me. Most NPCs feel very charismatic, probably because the voice cast was AMAZING (look it up, many legends worked in it) I also like that Tommy is probably the most financially successful GTA protagonist. Dude basically owns THE CITY by the end of the game.
Vice City is one of the few games I 100%'d. I even spent time grinding for the Godfather crime rating. Coming after GTA3 which was dark and gloomy it had a really different vibe to it which, in addition to Scarface like you mentioned, was also inspired by Miami Vice (for example when you hit 3 stars (if memory serves) you get Crockett and Tubbs coming after you in a Testarossa) which alone made the whole pastel suits with rolled up sleeves a fashion trend. So many guys used to rock that look back in the day in an attempt to mimic Crockett that it was bordering on comical. And the soundtrack is just perfect. Pop - US and European, rock and hair metal, hip hop in its emergence, love and power ballads, even Latin music gets a spot, all packed with some of the best hits from the era. Not to mention the dumb conversations from the talk radio stations. When it comes to gameplay San Andreas has it easily beat (as a sequel should to be honest) but I personally think that when it comes to the music selection and art-style (not to be confused with graphics) Vice City is at the top of the GTA list.
0:03 Holy shit, that Mario Paint music, this shit still gives me chills

Christ, one of the best video games I ever played. They don't make em like they used too.
+1 for the D.E.P. Absolutely the best way to play the games today in my opinion.
This was an awesome video The slight lisp (? i'm not certain i'm sorry if i'm assuming wrong) with the beaver character is absolutely charming Vice city was a game i played ever since i was 5 on our family's WinXP computer. For many years i just played a few of the early missions, then spawned a tank and tried reaching 6 stars which i always struggled to. Then i finally decided to play through the 3D era gta games as i was a mature 13 year old who could grasp a story and play through the game further than the third mission. I played most of the early gta games on the mobile versions first as a phone was all i really had. Had an absolute blast and once i got a pc of my own, i soon played through vice city and san andreas multiple times, several times at 100%. I love the gta franchise and especially vice city because i absolutely love the setting with a heavy dose of nostalgia. I don't think i ever got into a situation where i didn't have any money for the required assets, but i also didn't spend all the money i had on guns. Overall i really enjoyed the video. There's some fair criticisms and i'm glad you didn't fall for Defective edition as your first vice city experience. Tho i personally couldn't ever find myself playing vice city with a controller. Even touchscreen controls are more intuitive to me due to fine aiming.

I recently finished GTA 3, VC and SA on PS2, and I felt San Andreas is the most playable of the three, it still fun and not so different from what we have today. GTA 3 was very frustrating. The gameplay is very outdated and some missions are horrible to do. VC is nice most because of the vibe. The radios are amazing and I still listen to them today. But the gameplay is still ass and the missions are a bit less horrible. (I had to buy a original PS2 controller cuz it was impossible to aim with some weapons, and it still shit!) SA is amazing, like almost 100% of the time. Is incredible how diferent SA is from the others, even with the same engine and just little time after.

can't go wrong with San Andreas
:D About that mission with bike on rooftops, here my tip make mission finish faster and without stress if you fail jump correctly abandon motocycle and switch to police helicopter behind police HQ at downtown and fly toward spotlights
my brother in christ, playing old pc games with controller is the last thing you should do, I'm astonished you've even decided that's a good idea lol that being said, VC is the goat. I have the most fond memoried with it, the atmosphere the music... it was great.
Vice City is still my favorite GTA game. I have so many fond memories of it from when it came out. The 80s aesthetic, music, and hilarious talk radio (This is Pressing Issues with Maurice Chavez!) just make this game so freaking great! Love it.
I won't forget the first time my dad took me to gamestop to buy vice city, the employee was trying so hard to encourage my dad not to buy it because he said its violent and my dad bought it anyways and watched me driving around beating up npcs with a hammer good times,,
The game that was set in 1986, released in 2002 and You just got to play it in 2023 . Cool.

BTW, the DE modpack adds a mod that makes the combat a lot more like San Andreas, the original version of the game didn’t have free aim.
Commodore 64 loading in Vice City. Now that's interesting.
Well good job on giving it a go. By what I've seen the only negatives mentioned are due to it being old and new players not having the experiance of things not being handed to them.
I have nostalgia about this game. But i don't remember a lot about this game .
This game will be 100000 times better with a brazilian radio with Ronaldinho soccer remix.
Definitely my favorite GTA of all time. The soundtrack alone made this game GOY when it originally released. Wish this Rockstar still existed today.
GTAVC is my all time favorite GTA completed the story over 7 times
This is the last dance for Lance Vance!
"i just die in your arms tonight"
Vice City was a very fun game, loved the setting, the soundtrack and the gameplay was alright one thing i didn't like that came back from GTA 3 was if your character fell into the ocean you'll die instantly. also if you want there is a prequel game to Vice City and GTA 3 called Vice City Stories and Liberty City Stories. these two were originally released on the PSP and later got a PS2 port. if i remember Vice City Stories takes place 2 years before the events of Vice City and you play as Lance Vance's brother Victor Vance (he was the chubby guy who had the briefcase and was killed in the intro cutscene to Vice City)
This was the first GTA i've ever played, i remember being in the cyber cafe near my home and the only thing everyone played was Counter Strike 1.6, but one day i decided to play something different, i couldnt believe just how big vice city was at the time i played it, its was my firt time playing a game so big that let me do almost anything, then i got it for my ps2 and it was also the first game i've ever downloaded in my PC, i remember it was a badly ripped version of the game without any music, at the time i just thought my Intel Celeron D PC with Windows XP just couldnt handle a game so big
@BlooTeg
Жыл бұрын
good old times of ripped games, sucked to get a copy missing all the music
I never played the missions on this game either. I just left the radio on lol. Simpsons hit & run is in my backlog too. Self Control is such a nice song ❤
1:35 same, i agree. I LOVEDDDD SA. I couldnt even get past the first 2 quests for VC / 3, i did play 4 when it released alot though, but loved SA more. Even gta 5 cant beat sa for me.
BTW You do not have to grind so much for money to finish the story if you are careful not to waste it on re-buying weapons when you die. Make sure to save a lot and then whenever you die, load the save instead of continuing the game and re buying your arsenal. Try to pick up as many free weapons from dead bodies or secret locations. It is more than possible to beat the story without experiencing this grind for money you get stuck in as a beginner and without having to do all the side missions or grinding mini game stuff.
It makes me sad to think I'll only see maybe 1 or 2 more GTA games in my lifetime and I'm almost 40.

I totally get that, games keep taking longer and longer to come out, but at least we'll have great experiences! (hopefully)
I've also played GTA Vice City for the first time this summer and I'm glad I played it for the first time as an adult, especially when I'm fluent in English now, so I could get the full first-time experience of the game with the references and the story with only minor known details before. I agree with the asset part of the game since I'm not a side mission guy either, and while the asset missions were fun, they kinda ruined the experience with the story, especially when they take over the entirety of 2nd half of the game.
Yeah, that heli was a terrible mission. But sometimes I played VC just to listen to the radio 😂

9:17 I believe they only said they'd remove them and actually didn't. Unless there's been another update since. I remember there was a video which said that Vice City is the only 3D era GTA game that hasn't been downgraded.

according to forums, they did remove some of the songs with Billie Jean being one of them AND the way you find out which version of the game you have haha
I just finished playing Vice City for the first time in my life and I really liked it, the ending was a bit underwhelming comparing it to the one in GTA III or of course the one in GTA San Andreas but it was still lots of fun, I played the Steam version without mods and it was fine, it had a bit too few missions though, I felt it was shorter than GTA III.
I can feel your point with the whole „side mission” part of the game. I’ve been trying to beat Vice City at least several times for the past 15 years and always ended up getting stuck with boredom that those side missions gave me. Surely the worst thing about this game.

Dude , if liked the original Vice City , you should definally take a look on its prequel, Vice City Stories, it has a even more involving story , this time with lance, the updated gameplay from San Andreas, no grid , a few complicated but not frustating missions plus a hole criminal empire system where you build your own criminal empire like in gta online except for grind of course, its a very underrated and unknown game and might like it , especially if you played Vice City. (note:you will need a emulator). Oh, and great video as always.
You and me both. I only played gta3 4 and 5 although did played vice city stories which is fun time too. Playing vice city i missed out on a fun game. Do give other games a try whenever you can.
Vice city is my favourite GTA game
This game is the reason why I suck when it comes to music from the 2000s to the 2020s and also why I excel when it comes to the 1980s and 70s artists. I'm '99 by the way I believe you had the classic axis mod. In the vanilla game free aim is only available with rifles (and you can't lock on with them)

Duuuude! I just started playing the game 3 days ago. There are some parts of this game that haven't aged properly but it is still fun and only amazes me how many good things the devs were able to achieve in that era. P.S.: I am a music lover and have many great songs in my playlist. especially 80s songs. all thanks to the GTA games' radios and their ability to portray the lore and background of the culture and events of each GTA game.
You should review mad bullets, it's like an arcade game

About the controls... yeah, if you playing 3 and VC on controller, you're more handicapped than the PC players, because of that stupid auto aim, i died soooo many times on the PS2 i dropped the games for a long time because of that BS, PC controlls is way easier in my opnion (except in RC missions).
