I’ve been struggling: Ovarian Cancer Journey Vlog # 9 September 15, 2022

I vlog about the challenges that come with managing the symptoms of cancer and chemotherapy and keeping a positive attitude. At this time, cancer has taken most of the activities that I enjoy away from me and at times, it is a struggle to maintain a positive outlook. Despite this, I know it is imperative to continue to move forward with a positive view of the future and need to take one day at a time as I fight this thing.

Best thing for nighttime leg cramps is quinine, any grocery store will have “Tonic water “ as in gin and tonic you can use “diet tonic” if you have blood sugar issues!

Interesting - I just don’t really like the taste of tonic water, although if I could keep it down I’d consider it. I did try a epsom salt bath that helped somewhat.

Hello again. I’m grateful that you are in a good place Dana-Farber. I’ve heard of it and that you have a renowned doctor is a blessing. I suffered from leg cramping to the heart problems actually peripheral artery disease and I know the pain. Luckily it went away when I started taking medication so hopefully my clogged artery is clearing up. I am praying for you. You are strong. You can beat this horrible cancer! Aloha

For me it was really important to "forgive my body" in the sense that it was really mentally shocking when I had no energy what so ever. It happened to so fast and I could hardly walk around the house. Once I accepted that and didnt push myself so hard it was easier to actually save my energy to tackle the hard treatment. All in good time. You will get back out hiking once this "rough patch" is over. Keeping you in my thoughts !!

It’s just so hard going from a very active lifestyle to a sedentary one. I do like your approach. I may need to just work harder to accept what I can or can’t do at this time rather than just seeing everything I can no longer do.

Wising you all the best with your upcoming procedures. The effects you talk about are so familiar. I remember trying so hard to go out and walk. At first I could only make it 2 houses away and back using a walker, and it was a struggle. I did radiation and chemo January and February this year and surgery in April…all with complications…but now I am able to walk about 4 blocks and back with just a cane for balance. There might be times you’ll feel like you’ll never get better…but you do get better little by little. Give yourself time. I’m still dealing with effects, but between them easing up and you getting more used to them, life gets better. Please keep giving us the updates and don’t push yourself for anyone but you! ❤️

I’m so sorry you had to deal with complications too. It’s stressful enough to be going through this and when complications occur, it’s hard not to go down a dark road. I’m so happy to hear that you’re able to walk four blocks now and I hope for you that the effects continue to fade and disappear for you.

So grateful your channel showed up in my feed. There is a KZreadr named DCMediagirl who had ovarian cancer and prognosis some years ago and she is cancer-free. I know with the sarcoma the challenge is different. While hers is not a cancer journey channel, she's discussed her journey several videos ago. She too was ignored at first, like most of us women. (I was sent out of my own doctor's office in a condescending manner while I was actively having a heart attack). Subscribed and I'm with you, wishing you every blessing.

@@deirdrekiely6187 I drove myself home and my husband threw a fit demanding I go to ER so we went. I was wheeled into surgery after ekg showed heart attack in progress - two stents put in. This family doctor was so condescending. She sent me out of her office because my blood pressure was normal. I've since been told that BP is NOT how you rule out a heart attack. The hospital called her while I was in ICU and told her off. She started leaving me voicemails apologizing. I called her back and that's when she started with the same old pushback that my BP was normal... I had to hang up. This is what it's like for most women over the age of 40.

I had a bad reaction too. My Dr. was able to do give me something that was still, I guess in the Taxal family. But, I also had to have it lowered 2 times. There is always a way to make it work. Hopeing you feel better after you have the fluid drained. 🦋

Maria I remember that metallic taste in the mouth, nothing taste good at all, I had lost so much weight then. Now 5 years after I’m a normal weight, cancer is gone at least for now. I feel your such a strong woman, believe me that’s what it takes. Gods got you Maria, hugs and prayers 😀🤗🤗🤗🤗🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼💪🏻🥰

29 years ago I had one ovary and fallopian tube removed with a tumor. It had clear margins and close monitoring was believed to be the best treatment. This is a different type of cancer than the one I had before, but it goes to show that although time has passed, the risk should not be discounted. I am very fortunate to have family - a husband, three wonderful children, parents and a bunch of supportive friends. Congratulations on being cancer free - may it continue indefinitely!

I am on a pain regimen - and a pretty significant one at that. When the fluid builds up like this, it makes it exceedingly difficult to control the pain. I just had another parencentesis today, so I am feeling so much better after losing so many liters of fluid from my body.
