Your videos always had a very comfy feeling with my personal favourites being the ones where you showcase the creepy WADs. The bad WADs, as predictable as they were, never failed to make me laugh whenever the map started off with you saying how bland the rooms look so far. It is admirable that after 14 years of uploading videos you didn't grow into the more modern KZreadr persona that exaggerates everything through wacky narration which provides little substance. You mostly stuck to your roots where you provided commentary through text which works really well in this format, both in comedy and being informative. You could tell you made the videos out of passion. Sad to see you don't enjoy creating content at the moment, but it's good that you realise that on time before you truly burn out. Take a break as long as you need, either temporarily or permanently. Don't feel obligated to satisfy your viewers with a constant stream of uploads. Besides your job try to focus on other hobbies in the meantime, or maybe even discover new ones. Your happiness comes first. Godspeed.

This will be sad for us to see a legend leaving KZread, but I understand your point about losing motivation of making videos and so on. I even lose motivation myself for that as well since a few days because KZread demonetized my channel for reused and repetitive content and I found it absurd from them. Out of all the KZreadrs I've watched over the years, you're probably one of the ones I've been watching the longest. Like decino's comment stated, I always admired how you stuck to your roots (although you did get rid of the South Park profile picture, that was probably for the best), and even if it is barebones, it never got in the way of the game itself. Whenever I felt like checking out some goofy/interesting wads, you would always be my go-to next to IcarusLives. I loved your Terry wad videos and watched them constantly (which would lead to many awkward conversations with my parents when I used "the r word"). It could be too early to say this seeing as July hasn't ended, but thank you Aquarius. Your videos definitely fueled my love for Doom, especially its modding community.

Man, I understand all the reasoning but shit it's really a sign of the times if you sign off. I remember I tried submitting some of my levels for you to check out back when I was into mapping, not troll shit or anything, probably just normal underwhelming levels. Anyways, thanks for over a decade of content and entertainment. It'll be really sad to see you go but know that you gave lots of people smiles.

Dude, 14 years of great content. You deserve a rest. You deserve all the rest in the world, take it from a raging workaholic. I've been in academia for the equal amount of time (starting attending university conferences with researches when I was still in high school), exactly since 2008 and... What can I say, my PhD, a published research book and everything I did never felt near as important as what you did to many people with this KZread channel. The amount of times it worked as an antidepressant for me is way too high to count and it helped me through at least three rough patches in my life to a point that I started watching less to not run out of you as I almost did in 2015 after seeing like 90% of everything you did. And this is something to blame myself for because it probably seemed like I dwindled away and... I never truly did. I can thoroughly relate to lack of inspiration, too. If for different reasons: I'm in and from Ukraine and while it's not my first exposure to war it definitely crushed my creativity way more than the first one in 2014. I don't actually remember myself thinking that much about giving up the stuff I've been passionate about, namely filmmaking (after 20 years of it) and music. The irony is that I finally can make money out of the latter: PayPal is finally up in Ukraine and Bandcamp is finally fully functional too, but it feels so inappropriate to have any ambition, aspiration or goal when... When frankly life itself looses meaning on a daily basis. There was always a gaping hole in me growing bigger with each year out of my 30 (just hit this 'milestone', too) that I wronged too many people, never saved nearly enough and never did anything that could save lives, too. You, on the other hand, absolutely did. I remember failing more and more in 2015, loosing focus and willpower with each day after graduating from my Master's, not knowing what I should, could and will do in my life and then, by sheer miracle, recommended videos gave me your videos. A fully evolved media form that was unique, that had some mythology and yet realness about it. Something that had a person behind it, even without a voice, or face. You made me feel like there is a vector out there, something you can move towards and somewhere you can arrive eventually, no matter how ridiculous your start was (I've seen your earliest videos and I believe I'm subbed to a channel you had before this one). There's a reason you're in the special thanks of the first video of mine that made it: got past 1,000 views, than 10,000. When I'm talking about saving lives I am pretty sure I wasn't the only person for whom what you did was and still is magic. A relief. A painkiller. An escape. An inspiration. I am pretty sure that you can transition that to anything you do, whatever you do, be it developing video games, making videos or just... You know, living. You're a hero Cory. Regardless of your decision right now you've already made a lot of them to merit that title. P.S. Also regardless of your decision: I should and I will add more of your stuff on IMDb. "If it's the last thing I do" is a terrible cliche but I feel like just this once, I'm allowed to use it because of how I feel, even if for now I'm in one of the safer areas. As someone who literally discovered your channel a day or two ago, I dont really have that much of value to say to you. Nevertheless, there is something about your videos that gains my very difficult to pique interest. You seem like a person that takes a great deal of pride and satisfaction in exploring and dissecting the efforts of others in this vessel of video entertainment that has long passed the attention of popular crowds. I find value in that. There is a rgreat deal of subtle comedy to your videos as well as a very relaxing atmosphere. I would never be as arrogant to tell you how to plan your life, and what you have already made out of this channel is a remarkable feat.

I remember stumbling upon your Doom WAD videos during my first year at university abroad. The one with One_Doom_s_Day.wad was one of the first if not the first video I watched and it had a very "cosy" feeling somehow. I think the lack of overly-exaggerated voice commentary that you see so much of on KZread these days really complemented the atmosphere of the WAD and made it an overall very memorable video. At the end of the day, however, your well-being comes first. If you don't have the motivation to continue making videos for the foreseeable future, then that's OK. Maybe one day your passion for videos will be reignited again, but until then, take a good break and make sure you are happy in your life. *[sigh]* I wish I could make Terry WADs for you to freak out over... I mean, review them. I'm not gonna lie, I had lots of fun watching playthroughs of these horrible maps and your reactions of them. Hell, your channel was the first place where I encountered this kind of WADs for the first time years ago. Watching those poorly-made obvious or not-so-obvious troll levels, everything covered in the infamous red-tinted face of Brad Carney texture was, and still is (kind of) fun, I really respect you for going through this garbage so we can have a good laugh. Also - yours is one of the last old-school KZread channels with no voiceovers, camera attention whoring, begging for subscriptions and upvotes - pure content, just like the good old times. Thank you for this stuff, I'm still look forward for more in the future. I'm pretty sure some "interesting" Terry WADs are still being made! For now, it was a nice ride, I guess.

He did beg for people to donate to his patreon if I'm not mistaken putting review request behind paywalls because for some reason he couldn't review those wads for free. I think it's better that people stop making Terrywads and let the genre rest in piece.

Makes me pretty sad to hear. Your videos from close to a decade ago manage to carry a lot of nostalgia for introducing me to the crazy world of Terry Doom WADs. I can understand if a reason is also feeling like there's a lack of growth, thanks to KZread not being the same as it once was. I've seen other niche content creators in the past I've really liked leave for a similar reason to that. Just know that nobody will blame you or be upset, we all wish you the best in life going forward. You should feel proud being able to leave behind a 10 year old legacy.

I did nothing for a whole day--maybe to unwind and stop thinking of every little thing I have to do--and then this drops. This breaks my heart, Cory. I hope you reconsider. Starting anew on Rumble (or porting old stuff there) is the only recourse if you hope to reanimate and monetize because KZread is insufficient or even detrimental. But that's no reason to quit. Give out, gentlemen--never give up!

Regardless of what happens, just know that all of your content sure did make up my childhood, and introduce me to one of the greatest FPS franchises of all time. I even got back into rewatching your content just for nostalgia’s sake, and recently I finally purchased the old school Doom games just because of your vids. You don’t need to force yourself to keep making videos all the time, but at the same time you don’t need to force yourself to abandon it altogether if it’s something you enjoy as a pastime either. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to only do WADs occasionally, you don’t owe anyone anything. I think another problem with keeping up with a singular game like Doom is that at some point, it will inevitably become repetitive and boring for some time, which is why it’s good to take some breaks, even if said breaks would take a long time. Interests change, and considering that this channel has been around for almost a decade and a half, it’s honestly kinda surprising that you’re only starting to actually feel burnt out about it now. I guess that just goes to show how dedicated the Doom community is I suppose. I’m not here to change your mind or anything like that, all I’m saying that it doesn’t *have* to be as final as you make it out to be of you do end up deciding to stop for awhile. If you really are genuinely not interested in doing anything Doom related anymore for the foreseeable future, then that’s understandable too, although I have a suspicion that the latter is not entirely 100% true as I’m pretty sure we all like some Doom every once in awhile when we feel like we’re in the mood, but I don’t know you personally so it’s just an assumption. I’ll be sad if you do completely leave though, I enjoy you showcasing the good and bad WADs. A lot of them probably wouldn’t have gotten nearly as much exposure without this channel, and considering how oversaturated content on the internet is now, I can only imagine that it’s gonna get harder and harder as time goes on. That’s just how it goes for everything, no matter how popular a game is/was.i can’t even tell you how many games and game franchises I’ve seen fall so hard in public favor over the years. LittleBigPlanet is a big example for me since I was there since the beginning in 2008, and I’m very optimistic about the Restitched indie game, but that game alone having so little if not no fanfare and attention breaks my heart. Even Dreams on PS4 has very little attention, and having many of the LBP servers nuked right before the PS5 came out is yet another rabbit hole. The point is though is that no matter how sure you are of things lasting forever in their prime, they just won’t. All we can do is make the best out of it. So yeah, like I said there’s nothing wrong with revisiting this channel every once in awhile, but if you are actually gonna go through with it and completely leave all of this behind for good, then all I can do is to wish you the best of luck for whatever it is you want to do next. I can’t guarantee it would make you any more successful or popular, but if it’s what you are happy with doing then no one else can change that for you. Monetization on KZread is notoriously unreliable and largely impossible since the very first implementation anyways, and considering that you have a job, I don’t think it should at all be a primary reason to keep any of your KZread content going. I myself only ever make KZread videos as a hobby or if I’m interested, not because I actually care about what people have to say negatively about them or if said videos are actually good. One thing I think we can all agree with though is that the 2020’s sure have been extremely bad so far. Things could definitely still get worse, but it certainly doesn’t help that objectively worse and worse things do happen, even if they’re just by a tiny bit. My best advice is to just ignore as much of the real world drama as much as possible outside of maintaining your own financial, health, and mental stability. Our well-being is the only thing that matters most, so it’s crucial that you are comfortable with the things you are doing, even if you have to work hard to get to that point. You can do it man, keep trying. Never give up. *Apologies in advance for the huge mountain of text by the way lol*

I've been watching these videos since I was a young kid, back when I first played Doom I was about 6-8 years old. Put your real life stuff first, not your audience; in cases like this, reality is more important than the virtual world, including the internet. I just hope things will be better in the future for you, and I will not know when a return will occur, if one does happen. Regardless, I just hope you have a good rest, and -- about the next Doom wad video -- make it the grandest finale as possible!
