Fabulous news Becky! As an estate agent over many years I know very well the stress entailed in buying property. You did well by researching and being ready to buy as soon as you found the right home. I am looking forward to seeing you bringing it all together. My order of priority would be new kitchen, deep cleaning the bathroom and getting your bedroom how you want it. Everything else will fall into place in time.

Congrats! How exciting! As he was a smoker, best to wipe everything down with sugar soap if you are not changing it, including walls & doors (even if you are painting). The Nicotine/tar may eventually come through the paint if you just paint over. 😊 Can't wait to see what you do to it!

How exciting! Do you have a cleaning product called TSP in the UK? You can was the walls with it and it will get rid of the nicotine staining and smell. Also, if you changed the bedroom door to a sliding barn door, it would give you more space. Looking forward to all the renovations videos! Good luck!

Huge congratulations! I remember our first house v fondly - we did up an absolute wreck! And cleaning/getting someone to pro clean carpets and floors helps a lot with smells.

Low maintenance gardens are good to start of with, if you want something easy I'd really recommend wildflower seeds. Mine have done well despite shade and they can be potted too 🌼🌻

How thrilling! Mega congratulations.... although I do hope this doesn't mean we won't be seeing / hearing less from your Mum in your videos. I do love her input! In terms of house improvements, I would be mad keen to replace the carpet. I know that you can get it steam cleaned, but after that long with a smoker, I'd be looking to replace the carpet and underlay. It's soooo much easier to do before you move all your furniture in. Bit of an odd spot to put a manhole in the ceiling - in the master bedroom.... thought they'd have put in a hallway. I also live in an early 90s built house, but for now I'm putting up with the odd blue tiles as it's still functional and they're in good condition.

Congratulations. It’s a perfect starting home, looking forward to seeing you make your mark on it. My first starting home was the exact same design just without the downstairs loo. We managed to get a double bed the one end of the bedroom and then wardrobe with drawers under the other. You could see if hanging the door the other way helps gain a little space.
