Henry, I think you should have noted that when you're using Lockdown Mode, if someone you haven't previously called with Facetime calls you, although their call will be blocked, you'll receive a notification of the attempted call, so you can call back. 🙂
7:38 I actually prefer that my devices ask before allowing an accessory to connect. I heard once a while ago about someone could hypothetically connect something to one of my devices and install some malware, so since then I have an option set on my iPhone and Macbook to ask for permission every time an accessory connects Macbook setting is found in Privacy & Security, "Allow accessories to connect" iPhone setting is found in Face ID & Passcode, "Allow access when locked" / "Accessories"
7:30 it actually makes a lot of sense, malicious peripherals are a huge vulnerability when they act as "user" inputs
Thanks for this thorough breakdown, Henry. I was looking for a simple explainer about this to share with people in my life who are less privacy obsessed.
Thank for the review 👍
I am using it since day one without any problems. Sometimes a call was blocked and reported.
Nice videos as always thank you for bringing attention to a feature not very well known.
This was a great video on the user experience on Apple's Lockdown mode
A video on Skiff vs Proton/Tuta would be awesome!

Just look it up and compare the features yourself. Email is a terrible protocol for privacy anyway compared to messaging services like Signal. Proton already gave emails of protestors to German authorities
my guess for why you can't search for messages is that imessage doesn't do the normal parsing it would do with the message due to the history of imessage exploits
Will this stop someone that might already be in your iPhone remotely?
what about iPhone connected to physical device via cable and unlocked. what does lockdown mode do in such condition
I didn’t see a video on the newly released advanced data protection. Will you to be doing one specifically on this?

I turned it on and enabled it as soon as it was available.

I also used ur Bitwarden link to switch from last pass
When should I turn off lockdown mode if I don’t know when to or if I’m safe to do it
In lockdown mode you can't share your screen in facetime.
I cannot turn off lockdown mode on my iphone no apps are working…how do I turn it off!

The same way you turned it on! Go to setting/privacy and security/ and scroll down to turn it off again. Or if you actually watched all of this video, it tells you at 11:14
תודה!
They say nso just figured it out and hacked to it. What's your thoughts now ? Is samsung as secure?

source?
Huh, I didn't know lockdown was even a thing and literally none of the negatives you have listed are a concern for me... Actually several of them I see as positives. Turned it on and I will see how well it works.

@@techlore Thanks! That is awesome that you are watching comments even on videos this far back! So far so good, I also tossed onto my phone newdns and my vpn... My approach for mobile security/privacy so far has been to use RDP to connect to my computer and use my much more advanced setup through that, it is rather tedious to do so this gives me a medium level of that. Doesn't help so much with anonymity but that is usually the hard one anyways.
A bandaid until one switches to a Linux PC accompanied by a de-Googled Android Phone, while being in Apple's ecosystem there's no making yourself secure against Apple themselves.

As long as you are connected to a network, your sense of security is a placebo.

Placebo is a tad harsh. Moderate privacy measures serve to highly discourage some sources of attacks which you choose to prioritize, but you can never be completely insulated until you disconnect, sure.

I don't think a de-Googled Android phone is secure either. Many of the threats are not from Google.

Same, and I plan to De-Google this thing
And I ran to see the video thinking that Lockdown was like Bootloader unlocking on Android. Turns out it's just more Apple junk.
