A few things I learned from building this rig: 1. The cabinet running at 16ohms may not give as much headroom as you'd like, I think if I were to rebuild it I'd go with an 8ohm cab, or something that can run in stereo so I can pump a bit more wattage into the cabinet. 2. The wheels added to the TM212 make it wayyyy easier to transport, but it isn't a super deep cabinet. So the higher centre of gravity makes it a bit tippy. I think a deeper cabinet may provide more stability. That being said, no rig is ever "complete," and I think this is a great start for my wife on her own full guitar rig, and it'll make gigging/touring so easy. I think this is still a great combination, especially while playing locally when you have to load all your gear into the trunk of someone's car. You really can't beat the weight and portability of this setup. Please let me know what rig you would build in the comments!

Can you rewire the cabinet to 4 ohms (hoping they're 8 ohm drivers) - looks like the amp has good 4 ohm output.

What if you built a cab, with wheels of course, that was tall and deep enough to mount a full size amp, like a rectifier or peavey xxx or 5150 or whatever, just a full size amp, and mount it inside the bottom of the cab and have your 2x12 or 2x10 above the amp. Basically, it would be a half cab, but the weight would be on the bottom and the speakers on top. Just one half cab. Amp inside. With wheels. And handles. Ya know?

Assuming that cab has 2 Vintage 30, 8 ohm drivers, they must be wired in series to run at 16 ohms. You should be able to wire them in parallel instead to make it run as a 4 ohm load. Hopefully that's a nice easy fix.

It also looks like you could move the casters out front to back another 1/2" or so each so you have a wider footprint. Unfortunately, this would lead to more holes.

That thing is almost 10 years old and it doesn't even have a scratch on it. Good call on going with anything Gator; they make decent equipment.

That Gator pedalboard looks slick and great choices for the power amp and cab. The one thing that you may want to change is the speakers in the cab. If she's using the cab sims in the Pod, then the V30s are coloring the already colored sound. Using some FRLR speakers (Celestion has an awesome one) will give a flat response and still feel like a guitar speaker - designed specifically for amp modelers.

Pro tip for someone who's had to load his 212 countless places. Squat and bear hug it from the front instead of from the back. It'll be less awkward. The weight tends to be a little bit more forward on those cabs, and the open back leaves lots of grabbing room. The top handle on those things tend to be useless in my opinion.

I want a wife that I can discuss live rigs with! My 2 cents-Matrix poweramp-light as a feather and can clear a room. Worth every penny. Grew up hauling a full stack and a 12 space rack with a 1000 pound power amp. Im an old man now down to a 4 space gator wheelie case . Fractal into Matrix into 2 old ADA 2x12 slants (16ohm v30s-so 8 per cab). Small stage I only need 1 cab -carried in my right hand and pull the rack handle with left hand! Fractal is the heaviest component in my rig. Love small rigs! Tried some neo mag drivers in the cabs to shave off more weight but went back to V30's. Great to see a new vid from you two pop up in my feed-cheers!

If I was a talented working musician and had to take my gear anywhere... Thanks for the update in the comments about what worked and did not. There may be less tipsy options for the casters? Good job on taking the time to bolting them down on the inside of the cab.

Dean Lamb's rig building is an awe-inspiring masterpiece of sonic craftsmanship. The way he seamlessly integrated the Seymour Duncan Powerstage 200 to elevate the already incredible tones of the Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister 212 cabinet showcases his keen understanding of sonic architecture. Adding wheels to the cabinet not only demonstrates his practicality but also his attention to detail in ensuring both mobility and aesthetics. The inclusion of the Line 6 Pod into the setup further highlights Dean's commitment to sonic versatility, allowing him to effortlessly explore a spectrum of tones. His rig is a testament to his dedication, technical prowess, and artistic sensibility. Dean Lamb's rig isn't just a collection of equipment; it's a testament to his musical vision and technical finesse, resulting in a sound that's nothing short of astonishing.

Small, out preforms everything in its class is the Port City 2 x 12 oversized wave cabinet with horizontal porting. There are 45-degree sound deflecting panels along the top and bottom of the back panel. These panels allow the back waves from the speakers to reflect out of the angled port along the width of the front of the cabinet and up to the player. The cabinet sounds big, with serious bass response, yet its light. I loaded mine with EV12L speakers, which makes the cabinet capable of handling 600 watts. Overkill? Maybe...

The rig I use for my band live is very similar. I use a Helix LT with an Acoustic B300HD bass head as a power amp and a DV Mark Vertical 2x12 cab. For the Amp, I plug into the input rather than the FX loop because the amp is pretty transparent and the 5 band EQ comes in handy when a room sounds weird, but I don't want to tweak Helix patches. The Amp is only $200 and is very loud. I don't have to run it past half for most shows and we have a very loud drummer. In regards to the cab, the Neodymium speakers and fairly light construction make it SUPER light (about 26 lbs). It also comes in a horizontal layout if that's preferred. This kind of rig is really the way to go when compactness, simplicity, and price are major concerns. The SD Powerstage is a bit pricy, so I strongly recommend the B300HD as a cheaper alternative. I love the content BTW! I saw Archspire last year in Portland OR and you guys were great!

after seeing what you got to work with now, i got a think on for what i'd choose, probably not what you go for, i'm only part way through the vid. class-d, modelling preamp and my stereo speakers and a replacement speaker for each, it takes 12" speakers, so proper guitar speakers would be a fine swap, maybe a programmable digital crossover, yada yada. they already mount on my e-drum stand... that i repurposed from speaker stands anyway, i only use 100watts per channel, they can take 500 each, changing them to handle guitar pleasantly would be easy.

It surprised me when you went with the HK cab. Knowing that you wanted a lightweight 2x12, I was assuming from the get-go that you would have gone with an EVH 2x12. The EVH 2x12 seems to be an extremely popular option in a lightweight 2x12. So much so that it just automatically pops into my head when thinking lightweight 2x12.

That is a cool pedal board love the color. And it's good to know 2x12 is loud enough. After traveling overseas I realized it good to have a fly rig. So I've got a pedal board with and guitar setup. I'm just going to plug in directly to the PA if I gig .

@@reav3rtm"not sure why a gigging musician needs a cab" lol uh because your amp needs to connect to a load? What do you do in your jamspace, play your electric guitars unplugged next to a drummer?

@@icankillbugs She is gigging musician, not musician who plays in tunnel under the road or at market square. She could enable cab simulation and plug via XLR to direct input of audio system wherever she plays. She doesn't use a amp for distortion, she uses amp sim. She doesn't need any load. She had amp (clean) just to feed cab. Perhaps she just wants to be self-sufficient in audio delivery. It costs in weight. You clearly haven't paid attention to the video yet are loling at me.

@@icankillbugs Haha, "I listen to BM" elitist guy lol Sure I can compare. Archspire doesn't travel with own amps, their sound is from Fractals, I think straight to DI. Or perhaps they use stage amps, don't remember now. I suppose they are pussy band according to your elitist ear. Cradle of filth used to tour with Mooer micro pedals to get 5150 sound. Era of dragging heavy equipment with you is over. Because in most circumstances it's just pointless.

For real. Also how do they not have a pile of V30 loaded Traynor 2x12 cabs with a vintage silver grill cloth option and a modern black grill cloth option so all of Canada can be running those instead of importing cabs from Sweetwater and Harley Benton cabs from Europe. Seems like a no brainer.

Also, stereo power amps are best for stereo effects separation with at least two speakers. Stereo amps are not used for two guitars. You can rewire the 2x12 for stereo.

If your speakers are in the same box, you aren't getting much separation anyways.
