Oh crap! You’ve probably already seen my reaction in one of my videos then.

That’s pretty much everyone’s reaction when they encounter a gloom spawn for the first time. With guardians you need to be in their line of sight but these abominations, not even hiding behind a tree will save you.

My first encounter with the gloom spawn couldn't have been more horrific if it was scripted. So I'm in the forest of spirits on the great plateau and it's the middle of the night when I see this puddle of gloom sliding across the ground. I think to myself, "I wonder what's up with that." Save then approach. So in the dead of night, in the darkness of the woods, suddenly everything turns crimson as the hands screech and charge for me. Haven't noped out of a place in a video game like that in years. Once you're ready to face them, they're not so bad but that first time was a real cheek-clincher of an experience.

I completely forgot I could fast travel. I tried out running it, screaming like a little girl, and climbed a ledge thinking that would stop them. Wrong! They came up after me. Even my first encounter with a Guardian in BotW wasn't that scary. 😅

Discretion is the better part of valor. And saving first is the better part of gaming.

I first ran into them after I finished the Hebra Labyrinth. Ran for my absolute life. I had not been that utterly terrified since I first played Zelda and found ReDeads! Your reaction was perfect. XD

Lol my first gloom hands was terrifying. There is an autobuild I use for them and gleeoks (two lone stone slabs connected by the long edge and one square one on top, forming a little tower) that you can just ascend into and gain enough height for 5-10 arrow shots. Complete with areocdua or kesse eyeballs, and ALSO not being afraid of being grabbed a couple times and losing a couple hearts, you'll be totally fine

This is the same exact spot i first encountered them lol. I was seriously thinking at the time how weird it was to not have guardians near the castle, then the hands popped up lol. My heart was racing

I was yelping and fleeing like a damsel in distress my first time

keep a bunch of flower bombs on you, and if you can, then get a multi shot bow, just be prepared for phantom ganon

If you can get a good sniping position, you can rain bombs without them ever knowing what hit them, but nothing can prepare you for when phantom ganon sniffs you out like a fucking bloodhound

I almost shit myself when I first encountered them and when I got stronger I looked up online the best way to fight them and that’s how I found out that even if you defeat them you the have to deal with phantom Ganon I was like are you freaking kidding me I want the guardians back 😂😭

Those gloom hands ain’t no joke! Hit ‘em with bomb arrows then you got phantom Gannon after that😂😂😂

You could use electric arrows on them, using topaz. And you should use multi shot arrows. Or just use the dazzle fruit. After that though.... You gotta fight phantom ganon

​@@solgaliosgaming9420 Topaz are kind of a Waste due to their rarity, use Farosh's Dragon Spike Parts, they have the same effect and you can collect multiple of them.

First time I saw these was when I accidently glided into gloom spawn territory in the underground. One of the things grabbed me as soon as I touched down, and I died in sheer terror. I then respawned back in the middle of their territory (thanks auto save!). They immediately spawned back in and chased me up a dead tree. While they did their creepy twitching and flailing about, I kept shooting them with arrows, but they kept coming back. When I started thinking about making a break for it, they just suddenly died and left me so confused.

Dazzle fruit really work well on these things, or so I've been told. I tend to panic and run. 😂

Yeah early on I hated them so much.. I hate the hands more than phantom Ganon.. He's such a push over compared to the hands. Now they melt for me xD Lowest level Lynel bow + bombs.. They are dead before their spawn animation lately

Bomb arrows are fine and all, but what if you don’t have any? I recommend carry a spear with ice element on it as well, it stops them in their tracks very easily, and gives you enough reach to stay at a good distance as well

yep, 2handed sword with ice lizal tail works too. just spin attack in the middle and they cant do anything

Just Flurry Rush. The hands close the eye half a second before attacking, jump back and you will be able to Flurry Rush it.

This game suddenly became a horror game.

Even Deadhand from Ocarina of Time wasn't as scary as the Gloom Hands. -_-

I first saw the Gloom Hand near the Kakariko Village Skyview Tower. It spawned below the rocky cliffs so I didn't see it, so it immediately jumpscared me.

OH MY GOSH that is actually horrifying😭

there's a huge swarm of these in some cave below a tower. i tried to go there, didn't look, fell in and got absolutely fucked. most horrifying experience i had in this game

after 10 tries i managed to kill the phantom ganon by flurry rushing my way trough his fight

The 1st time i saw them i teleported away after they grabbed me and the 2nd time was random af it was on the way to hateno like wayyy closer to the village than i expected and i crouched down on top of a house to try and get a pic of them but they spotted me lmao

Man i turned into bakugo the moment i see those guys

(Un)fortunately my first encounter was on Death Mountain where a slope let me escape quickly via paraglider. I didnt get a good look at them and only saw the dark clumps at the time.

Impressive surviving that

Yeap, got the same shittin' treatment with like 5 hearts.. didn't stand a chance.

Yep. In Hyrule Castle there's some in the docks area and I jump over the railing the stairs and when they try to follow, the fall kills them. I don't know how quickly they might respawn, so I clear that area out asap.

It all depends on where you first find them, they're all over the map and they look like any other puddle of gloom - until you get close enough and they start moving. My first encounter was in a cave before I'd even gotten to Lookout Landing, so I had 3 hearts. There's also some on the way to Kariko Village. I wandered off the road to get to the shrine that's up off the ground by climbing the tree roots hanging down from it, and I was just jumping up to start climbing when I noticed the nearby gloom start to move and the music and red sky kicked in. I burned up the stamina jump climbing and barely got out of reach.
