    Thank you, i have a wash machine motor i actually wanted to use for this purpose but because they are inductive, normally you can't use them as a generator. But with your method you can. Genius hack. One suggestion i might make though to make it a little easier is to use a thick cardboard tube or maybe even water bottle the right size instead of pvc for easier removal once the a+b hardens. And as someone else mentioned, what is the actually frequency that this is, I'm guessing that it changes with the rpms of the engine. the frequency of that generator could therotically be bad for some electronics, if it is mismatched, so it would be good idea to run the power that it produces into a charge controller with battery bank and then invert it to the right voltage and frequency that you need.

  • @gordonbeaton8131

    @gordonbeaton8131

    Seems pointless as a lot of machinery dislikes inverter power as often not pure sine wave, it is expensive to make it sine wave, so perhaps what you could do is get an old alternator from a car and charge batteries from that! This produces 220-250vAC pure sine wave you could build a frequency control that keps the revs and voltage correct

    Probably wouldn’t have worked the same. For a couple reason. Wind won’t spin that generator as fast or as consistent as the gas generator. That’s why you often use home wind generators for charging batteries as it is lower voltage and doesn’t have to be consistent. Your voltage would be all over the place otherwise.

    Why not use an energized winding? Small battery and generation efficiency will greatly increase. When operating on a load close to the maximum power of the generator, it will inevitably begin to heat up strongly, in addition to the fact that it will need forced cooling, the magnets proposed in this design lose their strength when heated, which is why they are almost never used in industrial solutions.

    Okay. One thing you can do. Get ride of the Gas motor. Connect the shaft direct to a D/C motor shaft using insulated coupler. The generator will power the electric motor with the 220v thru an auto D/C A/C Converter. It will use less energy than the 220v generator. Run it as long as nothing breaks or shorts out from excess heat less any other problems. You can start it with a D/C auto battery and the Auto key switch. A volt charger detection circuit that auto stops the charged battery. Now you will have what I invented 55 years ago at 17 years old. PS. I improved this from age 18 years old to one not like this one to a generator with no moving parts. Go figure that out. Good luck.

  • @henrywilliams1439

    @henrywilliams1439

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@SrIrv When I said more power, I meant more electric power; I changed it on my comment. A larger pulley actually has less *mechanical* power because of less torque. The bigger the drive pulley the more generator speed, but less torque. The gas engine has plenty of torque, so that won't be a problem here. When the drive pulley is larger than the generator pulley it spins the generator at a faster speed than the driver rpm; that's why people use a 24" bicycle wheel to turn an alternator with a 2" pulley(12 times faster); more generator speed means more electric output up to a certain point. The frequency is how fast the current changes direction, so the faster the rpm, the higher the frequency. When studying electronics, it's said a higher frequency always means more electricity. Switching pulleys would give him 4 times more speed. The fan runs so slow because his set-up is only producing about 2 amps or less, that's why I said he would get better results if he switched the pulleys. (The monitor of this page doesn't think switching pulley's would be better, that's why he Highlight's any opposing reply to my comments.)

    you have a made a few mistakes: 1) what you have there is like a magneto and the output frequency and voltage VARIES directly with the rotational speed of the shaft (wich is not controller at all). the speed of the shaft should be 3000 rpm to get 50 Hz with two poles, since rpm = 120.f /number of poles. 2) the voltage reading you made was turning the saft with your hand and not with the gasoline engine... and also the value is incorrect! the highest voltage was 175 V RMS (at unknow frequency at minute 10:15 ). 3) you should check the voltage when the gasoline engine is attached and working. finally, i recommend you to use a green source of motion (instead of the 2 stroke gasoline engine) for the shaft, like wind or water from a river... and more important, learn how to read an analog multimeter here: watch?v=9rGDx92McTY

    it's a cool idea but it doesn't put out much amps. voltage may be high . size of magnets and wire thickness too small .a briggs and stratton engine 20 amp 12 v system at 36000 rpm and 20 hp will put out 38v a/c without the regulator . that winding he uses has more wraps so gets more voltage . notice it will run the small water pump with no restriction. add a sprinkler and it would probably struggle with load on it. the speaker probably has a step down transformer in it from 110v down to 12 v DC and the fan is barley spinning . would make a good 12v DC windmill .

    Even if the engine speed was controlled to make 50 hz, the voltage wouldn’t be controllable without changing the frequency since this is a permanent magnet generator (no control of field strength). I’m not knocking the project, it’s a cool idea, but this wouldn’t be suitable for utility power except for devices which can handle variability in voltage and frequency. Curious if the speaker was just a prop here, or if it has an internal power supply. Best option for a PMG is to rectify the power into DC and use an inverter if AC power if needed.

    Just multiply the wattage of the motor, if the motor 250watts thats 500watts depending also on the magnetifield and speed of motor. This project is very nice and very excelente
