I always tell people that the hospital is like a football team. Everyone has their own position to play requiring a unique set of skills. The success of the team is dependent on everyone doing their jobs well and in well-oiled coordination and communication with every other member of the team.

That was the question most often asked by interns and even lots of docs that've been there for 6 plus years .....^^ - Most likely....try to flush it. - Position hand / arm different - line squeezed/ tangled or any resistance , thus the flow could be interrupted, even by tiny things like a slightly bent wrist / arm / patient accidentally fell asleep on it ? - patient changed position/ stood up and the (lesser)height difference caused the pump to identify it as some sort of resistance / change in pressure - air ventile in some bottles/ bags accidentally got closed / opened (depending on the system used) - Is it empty? - Has someone tried to manipulate it, or set another rate and forgot to start it again? - Tiniest air bubble in the line ? - level of liquid in the dropper too high ? - the counting- thingy on the dropper that makes sure the set rate is given, is not correctly positioned ? - battery alarm ?

This is by far my favorite parody you have made (Right to Die is a close second) I've been a CNA for 11 years and will be starting my climb up the ladder in September for my LPN. Healthcare has always been such a love/hate relationship for me and no one understands that better than your fellow healthcare workers! It's nice to see appreciation for nurses! We are tired but we work hard and try to the best of our ability to accommodate each and every need. Love your work! Keep it up!

I don't have the means to pay for it myself. My place of employment is paying. They will pay for my RN as well BUT I have to practice as an LPN first. I'd rather work each ladder so i know what people below me are experiencing.

As a doctor I appreciate nurses, however, some people should understand this concept...if you treat us like trash when we are medical students and residents then how nice do you think we are going to be as attendings? Before medical school I worked as a tech in an icu for 2 years and was looked down upon...now the tables have turned. Of course I am nice to everyone now because I have morales but if we treated each other with respect no matter your level in the medical "hierarchy" it would be so much better.

I appreciate your work, but it's a perpetuating cycle. Doctors mistreat nurses, who take it out on the techs, who become doctors, ad infinitum. At this point, it's impossible to say where the cycle started, but if it doesn't stop at all stages at the same time, the cycle will continue.

Here's something I pass on to nursing students, EMT students, Medic students, new nurses etc. "I'm sure you've worked with a nurse/medic/EMT/doc/whoever who was an absolute nightmare! Anger issues. Too cocky. Ya know what's the best way to get back? Don't. Be. Like. Them. It really is that simple. Life gives you all kinds of role models. Some teach you what to emulate. Some teach you what NOT to emulate! And I ain't the first person to say this: "The best revenge is to be unlike him who performed the injury. Waste no more time arguing about what a good man should be. Be one." - Marcus Aurelius Antoninus. I learned a subtle, unspoken lesson from many years ago. From my crusty (but beloved by his troop!) Platoon Sergeant. Lead. By example. I still thank him for it!

I Loved this!!!! Everyone's job in healthcare is hard, I don't feel that mine, as a nurse, is harder. I just think nurses don't work together as they should and stand up for other nurses. I risk all if a co worker is being bullied or misused, I will take the next assignment even if I am busy if I see the nurse "up" for it is overwhelmed. Instead of sitting at the desk, I walk around and help other nurses' patients because their nurse is busy. I start the IV so the nurse getting the patient can assess them and gather info. We can help each other have a better day.

I'm beginning to think the perfect nurse as far as hospitals go would have TPN running on a rolling IV pole with a Foley catheter hanging from them to the bag hanging on the pile. They'd also have a dignacare rectal tube with that bag hanging on the pole as well! That way they'd never have to take any kind of break.

I am a nursing supervisor at a LTACH, we love our hospitalists. I show everyone (including some of the hospitalists) your parodies, and I try to push the TED talk as well...you make our day, keep doing what you are doing and thank you for having a sense of humor!!

I used to think nurses were just junior doctors, but now I know better. Never get a doctor to do a nurse's job!

I wish our drs respected us like you respect nurses. They only complain when we miss an order and say we are incompetent. When we were busy trying to keep their patient alive since they failed to treat the patient. The drs I work with are reactive in treatment. Not proactive. So patients get worst before they get better if they are the lucky ones. Been a nurse 20 years with 18 1/2 in ICU. So I have a pretty good idea how to keep someone alive with Gods grace of course. Have had some amazing Drs as mentors over the years.

Hilarious! I'm a nurse, and I love the profession despite the bureaucratic nonsense that gets on the way of patient care. Also, being a male nurse has it's "privileges" if you catch my drift 😉😎

I've watched this multiple times and I'm just now noticing that the order for 10,000,000 units of insulin is intraocular and that's killing me haha.
