I tried the World Championship London Postcard Speed Puzzle!

Ойын-сауық

This is the London Postcard Ravensburger puzzle used in the 2022 World Jigsaw Puzzle Championship in Spain.
It was used for the Qualifier rounds (group A)
I decided to try my best to see how far my speed puzzle skills are to the bests in the world at speed puzzling competitions.
I'm happy that I beat my personal best on my first attempt and I beat my time again on my second attempt. Getting closer to the sub 90 minutes goal!
Shoutout to ‪@Vikipuzzles‬ Go get her to 1000 subs!

What a great improvement! And the improvement from first try to second was huge, huge! Someone smarter than me said practising speed is a lot about getting used to moving fast, so doing it more than once will also help towards lighting speed. This jigsaw was my second attempt at speed puzzling, and I was around 1h and 15 min. I did 3 others a few days ago and ranging from 1:50 to 2:07. More practice is needed.

Well done Johnie, you are beginning to get faster. 👍 The more you practise the faster you will get. I quite often use the pick and place method as this means you have to look at the image on the box to see where the piece goes. I sometimes surprise myself by doing a puzzle faster than I thought I would. 😲 Others seem to take me a month of Sundays! Every puzzler has a method that works for them, but you do need to be flexible and adapt your method to suit the puzzle. Look forward to the next video.

Thanks for the comment, didn't know the method had a name haha! Still new to all this and I'm learning so much it's motivating when you see some progression! More to come!

I don't speed puzzle but I enjoy watching puzzling contests. You're right, for Worlds only the finals used unreleased puzzles. So, I was shocked when in the 2024 Nationals the puzzles for ALL rounds were unreleased.(Karen is working on recaps for her channel)😲 FYI: I just saw some photos from 2024 Canadian National Jigsaw Puzzle Competition (May 4-6, 2024) and they used Circle of Colors: Astrology and Seashells for Pairs qualifying rounds. Postcard from Paris was used for one of the Individuals qualifying rounds. Unfortunately it's not live streamed😥 but World Jigsaw Puzzle Federation has photos on their IG. Have you considered participating in an online speed puzzling contest? That might be another good way to practice.

Yes maybe in the near future. It crossed my mind. I'm not there yet but I checked the Canadian association website. Also saw the championship puzzles this weekend on the Facebook group!! Soon maybe!

I like that puzzle. I want to try the NYC puzzle because I've visited NYC. It's fun to do puzzles of places I've visited.

I did visit London last year haha! I saw the Big Ben for a minute and I walked the Queen's walk twice at night. I also want the other postcard puzzles because I think they look awesome. Been to NYC a few times but never went to Paris :( maybe one day?

good advice and if I was not aware you were new to puzzling by your own admission, I would think you were a professional giving this advice. I expect to you see in a competition one of these times, as am fully confident you will beat the 90 minutes first time on a 500 sooner than later!

When we do puzzles, we don't look at the box/photo. It really adds to the challenge!
