I've been slugging around my eyes for a while and I like how my skin feels in the morning. I apply it before my retinol so it also helps keep the retinol away from my eyes.

I've been doing this since before it had a name. It's only common sense. I'll be 70 next year but look 20 yrs.younger. I stayed out of the sun because I don't tan evenly. Knew about Retain A in late 20s but was too strong for me then. Now it's available in every moisturizing cream.

@DrRupaWong, could you please make a video on the use of a mixture of glycerine, rosewater and cloves on face. I mean is it good or bad especially for dry skin? Does it help with crow's feet?

Thanks for the video! I wonder if we should emphasize the importance of having a clean face and hands before applying the Vaseline around the eyes? The tubes of eye ointment emphasize not contaminating them by touching them to eyes/fingers. I imagine a tub of petroleum jelly you just stick your hands into isn't going to be very sterile.

Yes, always wash hands!

I used ophthalmic tears ointment several yrs in one eye for lagophthalmus which eliminated a large Pinguecula . That led to the use in both eyes which had the same result . Since the DEWS study indicated the best tears were lipid base I started using coconut oil at bedtime for even better results. Among my patients who prefer this natural product for dry eye are some ophthalmologists and their wives . As an optometrist for 47 yrs I enjoy sharing what I have learned.

Glad and appreciate you covering this topic. I have normal to dry skin but can develop milia so quickly with any topical cream with certain emollients. I'll proceed with caution, thanks! ❤ Dr. Rupa, please I'd like to know WHICH eyelid primer (no brand name req'd, just key INGREDIENT/S) should be avoided if you already have dry eyes, hay fever prone and can get dry, flakey lids. I love my eyeshadows and liquid liner, but have to leave my eyes makeup free for at least a week, if I do a full eyelook. I already skip mascara and don't tightline with pencils or powder, but the dry eye discomfort can be hard to take.

Wow, you look at least 10 years younger 😊. How do you get it off in the morning? Do you just use a regular cleanser? I'll have to try it - I'd like for my concealer to go on better. Thanks for the great advice, doc!

Petroleum jelly contains MOAHs which are considered carcinogenic. That might be worth looking into.

This is very informative. But when I went to my ophthalmologist last month, I asked him if putting tretinoin (retinoic acid) near my eyes would cause dryness to the meibomian glands...he replied me "what's tretinoin?" Sigh. I don't supposed every ophthalmologist knows about retinoic acid, retinaldehyde, , retinol especially if they are men? So then I said retinol instead because most often people hear about retinol vs retinoic acid and he wasn't so sure but he said, sure, no problem.
