Watching the gameplay I realize: Why didn't they make the game always take place at night? That would have made it slightly better; the vampires could have put a spell on the town that hides the sun 24/7.

@@iattacku2773 I vaguely remember that now. So why do they have scenes that take place in the day? It makes no sense. Also, the buildings and structures in the town are so bland. They could have made the town look more Castlevania-like, or even like the town in House of the Dead 2. I think they have a lot of nerve even releasing a patch for this game. It's one of the worst games I've ever played.

They did actually darken the sun, but it was not enough to make it perfectly dark. So there is "shady day" and real night.

My only complaint is that it doesn’t cater to the solo player experience. It wants to be a co-op game. They also need a dodge mechanic

@@irecordwithaphone1856 yah the problem was this was originally a live service game full of microtransactions before they converted it to what it is now. would be great if they could do a remake or sequel done right but I think all the old talent at Arkane left so they need to hire new and better talent.

In some games, everyone has a combat knife. In Redfall, everyone should have a stake. It's a very low bar to reach. Elbow takedowns?! vs vampires?!

8:39 No I can see the collision box from the "mine" you placed and it shows that even in the transparent space you will still collide with the post. So they most likely used a cube collider. It also seems like they didn't code in any combat code for player's last known location and move to sequence for the ai. That is only speculation though.

I wanted to be there for the story and gameplay. If I just wanted great co-op gameplay, I would just dive into Borderlands again personally.

I am loving Redfall rn. Started it for the first time when the update dropped

Game of the generation easy

The new “stealth” makes noise and alerts enemies while the previous “punch in the ass” does not, which makes no sense. Not to mention that it is impossible to approach the stealth form of vampires, and it should be! And not having a way to dodge is really annoying, it's almost impossible to dodge vampire attacks, other than going backwards and sideways in a frantic manner! It takes a lot of new changes to really improve Redfall.

The game plays great, playing it more than starfield after the new update. Don’t listen to the hype just play and try it yourself

Thanks for the update. I liked the game at launch, but yea it quickly became so evident how unfinished it was. I am VERY happy to see these changes come out, as hopefully this means that they will continue to push more updates for simple fixes like quest markers.

I think this is the type of game that I’ll wait for a final update to try out

Bad take, I think. Not your opinion about Redfall. no issue with that at all. but basically accusing people on twitter of reaching for w's because they like the game now and deem it worthy to say they do. I mean you paraphrased saying im matty and if you like the update and think its a good game now and worthy of saying so, you're wrong and reaching because I say so. Just because you would be reaching by calling it a good game doesn't mean others are too

Always appreciate your honesty and bluntness. But I'm still one of those few people who still like the game and play it, not all the time as I chop and change games a lot, but I do hope there will be some redemption for the game, but I do hope you're wrong in suggesting it shouldn't get too much more dev support, as I think a lot of people forget there was going to be two more playable characters introduced whether they ever come now is a different matter, but that might be why Arkane hasn't given up on the game still. As I doubt they could drop two new playable chars in til they patch a bit more. But like I said I'm one of the few who bought the game on release, and for what the game is, and I'm a very old school gamer, we're talking early 1980s onwards, I'm probably just more forgiving, it's still a fun time if you don't take it too seriously. But as to people saying it's the worst game ever. Oh my definitely not. Could so easily throw Gollum in ahead of it, along with Battleifled 2042, the current Madden and NBA, Diablo Immortal, Overwatch 2 (potentially), I'd have to say most of those listed amongst others I'd have to consider worse than Redfall. But I get it everyone is going to have games they love , games they hate and games they're really disappointed in. Even I'll admit I've played some games people consider are total trash but I still liked them, enjoyed them and played the hell out of them.

With the 60 fps update, I finally did a playthrough. It’s fine. I’m not as harsh on it because I don’t enjoy Arkane’s other games that much either. I don’t think the game was treated unfairly though, considering it was really rough at launch.

I feel like Redfall got a bad wrap. Its not a 10 but its fun. The atmosphere is great. And after the last few patches its a perfectly serviceable shooter, especially with other people. I fond most people crapping on the game never even played.

The game is as soulless as Mephisto himself!! Nothing will improve the game to convince people to buy it, not even this "big" update that fixed next to nothing.

Theirs still no live match making. You have to respond to posts looking for a group. It just makes it that much harder to jump in and have fun

I just started playing it after the update, it's a good co op shooter. Setting is interesting, creepy vampire nests, one mission had my wife and I enter a little doll house to find memories of a test subject. Definitely not a terrible game.

The game plays ok, but when in coop, the enemies are a push over. Then the developer nerfed dome player favs like the stake gun ammo. Still I would play. My concern is how this game is called AAA. It is very short. This is Arcane 101. You finish wondering where the game is.

To me the only problems were the framerate the game is fine it’s not amazing but it’s average and for a game i play free on gamepass it’s ok for it to be that way they will probably add more content and fix the issues with the game but I don’t care if they do or don’t

I know you have a Deathloop bias but you can't say Arkane are good story tellers and mention Death of the Outsider over Deathloop

Now they just need to add cut-scenes and improve how abilities function.

But Matty It’s not a coop game. You have to have friends to invite in order to play. There is no match making so your screwed playing alone in an online game

I didn't like death loop at all. I liked redfall more. Even with it's flaws.

I downloaded the game for the first time but didn't get to play it as yet. Looks like its still not worth playing as yet. If this is all they are planning to do then that sucks. I'd love to see them bring this game back to life, Vampire style, but that might be wishful thinking. It would be nice to see them layout a road map.

How do you know until you play it. I did the samething with Forspoken but I got it cheap and it's a really good game too bad more of us gamers don't actually give the game a shot before assuming through others opinions...that goes for myself too. Redfall can be a really fun time. You may try it and not like it but at least you actually will have played the game.

I gotta be honest here...... I think people take gaming WAAAAY too seriously. I am 44, i grew up on the ZX Spectrum, NES, Mega Drive, SNES..... An era many would call the best ''Retro'' being the boom word of late. Back in the 80's and 90's, we still had buggy games, glitchy games, broken games and damn right rubbish games..... But ya know what, we just got on with it! These days though, if there is a broken, buggy or rubbish game, people feel the need to take too social media and act like it was a personal attack. I'm on my Series X, on my Oled C3, and 2 games that i am having the most fun with at the moment are two games that were slated a lot, and that is Redfall and Gotham Knights. They are by NO MEANS classics, but i tell ya, they look great and iv'e been having a good time. People please, NOBODY forces you too pre order games, NOBODY forces you too buy games, that is why there are demos and trusted reviewers, if you pre order a game knowing nothing about it, that's a YOU problem. Just take gaming for what it is, a luxury and a fun past time..... Not LIFE!

I kind of enjoyed it at launch so I'll be going back to it. I never expected a 9/10 game or anything remotely near Dishonored anyway so for me it was never really a disappointment

Yeah, I would just put the team on a new single-player game. In five-six years, they could make something really good again that makes people forget this failure.

The lack of melee animations is very disappointing

Why wasn’t there a hand stake weapon. Not nit picking. It’s the first Damn question I asked when I booted it up.

I think the only other update that's worse than this , is The remnant 2 update that just dropped today. I'll just go and wait for Lords of fallen to get fixed on console and then while I wait. I think I'll play Alan Wake 2.

I think how far they take the updates will depend on if they had future plans for the IP. if this was always planned as a one off game then we probably wont see that much more done to it. If they had plans for it to be a series, then i think they will go ahead and tey to redeem the game.

it took you five days it took me 12 hours on Midnight that was doing everything in the game and then i beat eclipse difficulty in 8 hours while doing everything in the game so i did that in 2 days 48 hours. i explored and did every side quest and main quest

Just a few, gaming come back stories. Elder scrolls online, skyrim on ps3, cyberpunk, batman arkham knight on ps3, sea of thieves, fallout 76, no man sky, gta online, fortnight had an abysmal launch before battle royal. That's just a few i came up with in 2 minutes of thinking. Games can be saved if the teams have time and believe in the product. Time will tell if the team really wants to make redfall good.

I really think they shouldn't waste their time with this game and just move on. Games like Cyberpunk and No Man Sky had a ton of issues at their launches, but they had a great foundation (Cyberpunk more so imo) that they can build on. Redfall has nothing going for it. It just isn't worth it and the more they spend on this game the longer it takes for us to get a potentially good game. But at the same time maybe it doesn't matter. The great devs from that studio are all practically gone.

That's fucking heartbreaking to hear. Prey is one of the most impressive, engaging and deep games I've ever played and honestly kind of taken aback that Matty didn't like the ending...personally, I in NO way saw that ending coming and I thought it was brilliant. Mooncrash was just the incredible cherry on an already fantastic cake, and I deeply hoped we'd get the next entry. Is it really that bad at Arkane now? Have their Dishonored and Prey all really left? Like all of them? If so, they're doomed. Their very unique style of brilliant and unique storytelling mixed with brilliant and unique universes and character powers is what made them such a massive powerhouse in the gaming industry. Redfall does have a decent foundation with its world. This game kinda reminds me of Sea of Thieves in a way because only when they overhauled that game and added like story quests did it become really fun. The basic gameplay loop of Manning a ship with your friends and fighting other ships gets boring after a while but the new quests made it one of the best coop experiences, if Redfall gets more content like this, I can see it making a comeback somewhat or atleast becoming serviceable

The gunplay is pain

The stealth takedown issue makes me realize just how troubled of a development this game had. Like your not going to make 4 other games with those elements then suddenly forget to include them here. There were issues within the core development of the code apparently. People like to make fun, but the truth is go bake 4 cakes, 1 per month. Then tell me each was a mirrored image of quality. Sometimes projects need to be rebooted or cancelled. Look how many phases of development RE4 originally went through if you were alive to remember that. Every year a different version was showed off. RE4 was originally tonally like RE7. But they went with what worked, then they had those ideas and made RE7 later. They should have delayed the game until October like 20th - 29th first of all because the themes of the game don't make sense to come out in Spring. That would have at least allowed the first impressions to be more favorable and put them in a position to fix that in the next few months. You can be forgiven for a 7/10 that would be updated and dragged to an 8. I don't understand how this was play tested to reflect a 7/10. This should have been in more hands play testing to get a better opinions to make better decisions.

I think the only thing I have a hard time forgiving is when a game comes out, it should be good and work at launch no exceptions. I cannot stand when companies worry to much about deadlines vs producing quality and this is why I always wait a year or so before buying anything these days.

I 100% agree with you saying the AI is often overlook. This is my number reason of playing a video game. I don't play for multiplayer but more for realism which real people usually don't do. Having AI's reacting, searching, talking, moving smoothly, having narrative, given mission, helping, having a purpose, trading, having a story, interacting, these are what makes the game feel realistic. No AI's or poorly made AI's automatically breaks the game for me. But that is my opinion.

I don’t envy devs having to make their game’s difficulty scale well between SP & MP. Finally got into it & its interesting gameplay design. Taking on multiple vamps is tricky because how slow weapon reloads & med packs are. It’s kinda fun but I’m not seeing a quality flowState from humans to vamps. World is cool but the gameplay just doesn’t compare to FarCry or Borderlands. Neat idea & maybe I’ll grow to appreciate it more

Just like what they did to Rare, Microsoft and Xbox will Buttfuck every studio they buy out. With the first Xbox Series X Exclusive being Crossfire X we are gonna experience another decade of disappointment.

At least they fixed some of the technical issues, but you can't "fix" a bad game, with bad game design. This isn't an Arkane game, and the only way to fix that is re-design the entire game.

I just looked at the steam page of Redfall and saw 34% positives all but 71% positives recent. Most people say that this game is now okay just not worth the full price

Bethesda was hemorrhaging money, despite all the Skyrim rereleases. Mainline Bethesda games make money, but the Arkane and Machinegames and Tango games weren't. So there was a push in last decade toward live service titles and this was one of those. Hopefully the last of them.

So Matty doesn't think Twitter users are allowed to have an opinion different than his? If someone says they like the game, good for them. It doesn't mean they are trying to cope. The game is fine, its not a 10 but it is fun and completely playable.

Or how many times you were kicked out of the game. 7 updates later those same people are singing the games praises saying it's one of the best games of all time, it really turned around etc. 5 more updates should turn redfall around.

I'm super happy that they fixed this game.... 60fps and the AI overhaul made a huge difference.... Good job BGS

Absolutely love Arkane. I have pc gamepass, so is Redfall worth playing now? Does it have a solid solo single player?

@benprins8240 no it doesn't suck but it's not fun without friends in my opinion. I'll tell you this. Every game u play is an opinion on a good or bad game . I don't like any ps5 exclusives besides Spiderman. I like red fall more than infamous . Alot more . I play redfall with a group and it was a great experience for me it was a 7/10 maybe even more. We had fun. Got mad. Had scares , and it was good. I played solo on the update and I like it still but not as much. Check it out and give it a try. It's not the best game ever. It's a decent game and if you play with friends and enjoy it that's the best thing ever bro

@benprins8240 the solo portion doesn't suck it's just really hard to play on hard difficultly, having a friend or 2 feels like that's all they had in mind since there's not much talking and not much really to do besides the story missions . But I have a bias towards black ops 2 zombies and in my opinion this is like zombies but better because the story gives objectives.

I got the game on game pass it wasn’t played for 10 minutes let alone 10 years he’s dreamin

Played the game for a couple of hours when it first came out and then i uninstalled redfall. I thought the game was dog crap. But now with the 60fps update i re-downloaded the game and i am having fun with he game. is it perfect? no. but its so much better than what it was at launch.

6:16 totally get you Matty and agree with you.I even saw one tweet claiming it's a game of generation which is laughable 😂 But,I also hope Arkane will move on,in addition Lyon is definitely doing something in the meantime and even though Deathloop had its drawbacks,it was a great game if we don't compare it to say monumental masterpiece Dishonored 2 I don't know exactly what's coming next,Dishonoured 3 or Deathloop 2,but I hope Arkane remains true to what they do best- single player immersive sims with stealth-action as gameplay priority.Pls Arkane,learn and deliver next time

Objects being out of proportion with characters is very strange.

I respectfully disagree. I hope they "rescue" this game and just add a lot more to it. This game just came out of the oven way, way too early. They should de-list this game like they did with CyberPunk 2077, and just work on it for another 3 years and make this game amazing. You said yourself, Arkhane are great storytellers. They should make a great story and evolve the game around it. This game has a lot of potential. It would be a shame to throw away this IP. Keep working on it and do a Relaunch sometime in the future.

I play too many game competitively.. downloaded this to play with my GF on a whim and tbh it's a pretty good turn you brain off and shoot things game. I guess this game gets a lot of hate because there was a lot of hype behind it at launch, but I just heard of it the other day. I really think the game has a little bit of charm. If you want to hate it, sure, you absolutely could. But if you're trying to have fun with a game, the game does it's job.
