Hey Jerika! I make shower steamers for my small business :) the key to a strong shower steamer that doesn't break apart is 1. the mixture should be the consistency of damp sand, to test this you should squeeze some of the mixture in your hand and it should stay together, the fact that you said was powdery means it wasn't damp enough, one tip to get your mixture damper is to use witch hazel in a spray bottle and spray about 5-10 spritz repeatedly until you get that damp sand consistency :) and 2. it's all about pressure, you have really press down hard to make sure it's really compact in the molds! And it's best to leave them overnight/next day to dry and set, I hope I helped :)

I make shower steamers for my business!! 😁💚 The main ones I make are designed for congestion, and they're a huge customer favorite! 😁 I offer a few different scents, but the congestion ones are the top seller (I add eucalyptus, spearmint, peppermint, and tea tree as well with spearmint & peppermint leaves). I don't put any clay in mine, and I use alcohol-free witch hazel as my binder. They have the perfect texture! I've noticed that the menthol crystals, when melted, bind to the essential oils, making little "chunks" instead of easily distributing them throughout the dry ingredients - that's part of why shower steamer mixtures can be so so dry. And that's why I use witch hazel instead of alcohol because when I'd use alcohol when I first started, the smell was overbearing because I had to use so much (again, because the mixture is so dry lol). Thank you for sharing this with us!! I have faith you're going to get it! 💚

Be prepared to get these questions with shower steamers: can I rub it all over my body, can I use a shower steamer as a bath bomb, why didn’t the steamer work with a cold shower? It is important with helping and educating customers but these questions do make me chuckle inside. Be prepared but I’m sure they will be a hit for you. 💕My customers love them !

I actually bought shower steamers from a small business after my near death with covid. I had never used some before but that seemed like a good pampering thing to try. Loved the eucalyptus one to help with my sinuses since I did have both viral and fungal pneumonia! I think it would make a great addition to your line once the recipe is perfected 😊

I use cornstarch as a binder and spray in my water until it gets really hard to stir. You can the citric acid toward the end if you're worried about activating it but it's ok if it does because it's in the shower🤷‍♀️ I use a cupcake tin for a mold and smash it to death until it's firm. Keep trying, once you'll get it, it's easy 😊 my costumers love them!

I used the heart mold - but only weighed in 2 oz and they came out great. Good Luck - Sometimes I find the bath bomb press frustrating - well until you get the recipe right!

I would also recommend using witch hazel as it is a little more sticky. I don't add any additional oils or clays or anything since its really just supposed to release the EO into the shower but Iv'e never shipped them I have no idea if my recipe would break apart in transit. I only sell them at the market or local pickup.

Yes, maybe reduce the clay as it absorbs all the water added. I am looking to get a mould like the black one you used to get started, hopefully will find a suitable one.

HI. You cannot use water in shower steamers. Baking soda, Citric acid, Kaolin clay, alcohol, polysorbate 80, fragrance oil...Should not be wet at all just slightly damp. Spritz with 91% alcohol but if too wet will puff out. Also you need to put them in molds ad let them dry 24 hours in the mold before demoulding.
