I bought this guitar 8 months ago. My band plays about 4 nights a week, and I've been doing it for 15 years. This guitar is easily the best gigging guitar I've ever had. Strat, Les Paul, Midtown, Reverend Slingshot, SG, Hagstrom Futurama, etc...I've used them all. This is lightweight so my back and neck don't hurt after a 4hr gig. It has 8 tone options, so I can get all the tones I need for funk, pop, rock, country, you name it. It has endured countless outdoor Florida shows in the heat and humidity. The shorter length means I no longer hit my sax player with the headstock. It's an A+ road guitar 100%

Simply saying "there's 5 channels" isn't enough. Again, you're the one trying to tarnish his name, so you're the one that needs to provide evidence. Going straight to "you're claiming he's good, why don't you prove it" is ironically, the most 6 year old thing I've heard someone say. Especially since you yourself have said "I'm not saying he isn't a good guitarist." Until you actually show the evidence, I'm assuming your comment is laced with envy and you wish to be him and have his life. Put up or shut up. I don't need to provide evidence for a subjective statement; statement being "he's a good guitar player." That's a subjective statement, as others will think differently. You, on the other hand, claims he is a fraud. Show us.

@@xamislimelight8965 you’re pseudo-intelligent, buddy is right, he’s never replicated anything live that any decent player couldn’t do. His live shit sucks. Because he doctors his videos. Or at least, has in the past. He is a good player, but some of his best shit is either 2 guitars at once, or pieced together section by section in post. He’s more of a creative mind that uses the instrument of guitar to make music. Some things that are impressive, he can really play. Other things, he can’t replicate. Do yourself a favor and pursue truth instead of blind gravitation. Go look up ichika live. There’s not much. And what is out there, leaves many questions.

Sorry it had to happen, but glad for Trogly finding out about this short lead and fragile solders. Even luthiers are going to get nailed by this. I'm not surprised that guitar manufacturers are getting more and more proprietary with their electronics. There aren't a lot of YT channels that open up guitars to check, so I'll be avoiding those manufacturers if I can't be sure ahead of purchase that I can mod easily. Now I'm suspicious about other Ibanez models.

IDK Trogmeister, it seems like this guitar really suited your style of playing better than just about anything else I've seen you play. Maybe it inspired you to take more chances? Anyhow, definitely a different guitar for those who aren't looking for the typical Les Paul/Strat style guitars.

I'm not really a fan of most of the headless guitars out there. With one exception being the Steinberger Spirit/Hohner G3T Headless'. Or as I like to call them, "Boat Paddles". They are the only Headless guitar shapes I've ever really liked. Maybe because I have one. Speaking of which, would you be able to do a review of one of those 2? Preferably the Hohner version? I think the Hohner is the coolest of the 2 and you can pick them up fairly cheap.

I've never been in the same room as a headless and I was never sure what the deal was but man that seems nifty. I'm curious as to how it compares to other more conventional bridge setups in regards to sound, but as someone spends most of their time on a classical style guitar and all my electric time on Les Paul's and strats I find the prospect of re-stringing this guitar over those to be VERY appealing, maybe enough that I may actually change my strings before I wear nicks in them if I had a guitar like this.

I am glad you reviewed this even though in the end I did not care for this guitar. With and without earbuds, this sounded too thin and even tiney to me. I have played two headless guitars (Eart and Steinberger) and even an headless bass Steinberger) so being headless is not an issue for me. Like you, I also had to wonder what was up with those first three frets.

The Alter Switch on this model wires the middle pickup with the outer pickup in series, so it gives that faux humbucker sound you’re hearing. Super useful, and gets you in the ball park of any tone one might need.

I can tell most PCB QC issues from a mile away after 30 years of being on the bench as an engineering technician in technology development. Those are full on HEAT DESTROYED PADS that pulled off. If you were able to pull those pads off just by disassembling the instrument, then the PCB was fabbed poorly or they were ruined during assembly. You are lucky that pickup was even connected (if it was even functional); yell hard at your Ibanez rep because QC should have caught that. They didn't even clean the flux off, so I don't think that pickup was even tested after it was made - it went straight into a guitar. YOU NEED TO TELL IBANEZ TO REPLACE IT - THAT'S A WARRANTY FAILURE. AGAIN: THOSE PADS WERE LIFTED DURING MANUFACTURING BECAUSE OF THERMAL STRESS. Which is weird because some of that solder appears to be COLD JOINTS, which means not that they weren't heated enough necessarily but since we do see that there was enough heat to lift the (arguably) weak pads that they were likely moved while the solder was cooling, introducing air/cold into the joint and making it mechanically and conductively sketchy/weak, especially after high temp thermal cycling. So, bad manufacturing and QC on this product overall is what this indicates to me. Pretty sure I'd want to know if this type of work was leaving my factory... In hindsight, the employee probably knew they had ruined a pickup so they gave it to the assemblers instead of letting it go through pickup QC. That's my best guess, again, from years of finding issues on outgoing product (they always blame engineering first, so we have to go find everyone else's problems to prove it wasn't us - I think that's why they do it, they know we can find the problems) it seems to me that someone just tossed this into the "already QC'd" bucket, intentionally or accidentally. IBANEZ HAS A CHANCE TO DEMONSTRATE CUSTOMER SERVICE - LET THEM. Make an episode! 🙂 (actually customer service episodes are my favorites as well as most useful to viewers!)
