That isn’t good that the speakers are blown because apple used Harman Cardin speakers. And I don’t know how to spell Harman Cardin correctly I think so I use speech to text if I got that wrong.

This is really interesting to watch! Seeing not only the hardware limits but also the software ones of early iMovie makes me appreciate the fact that despite using a 7-year old laptop, I'm still able to use (a slightly outdated version of) Davinci Resolve

I had that exact one. Same color too. Ended up getting rid of it because the speakers sucked and I played a song a tad too loud and the right speaker blew and all you could hear was the tinfoil inside the speaker rattling around.
That's why I'm watching it in 144p so that i can get that retro vibe.

Ahh yes the Mac G's I remember reading an article online where Makoto Shinkai, the creator of "Your Name" and "Weathering With You" favored Apple Macs over Windows. They were powerful for their time, he was able to indepently create a short anime all drawn, animated, edited, and composed in one of these Mac models. I think it was the G3 or G4 not sure, but I'm not sure. Great video showcasing this old tech's capabilities and limitations.
I wanted one of those colored mac computers so bad back in the day! Never got one (poor), but it’s fun to see it again. 😊❤ Great job!
It's fascinating seeing how limited the first editing softwares were, because the creators just couldn't fathom things like using a clip multiple times, which aren't possible in real life.
@UncleUncleRj
Жыл бұрын
It was more likely a limitation of RAM, but what you'd have to do is save your project, then just open the file you wanted to clip, reduce it down to the bit you want, render & export, repeat as needed for each bit, then import each clip you just made back into your saved project, remove the block that's in the way and re-add the imported bits in the order you want. It's a ton of work, but it gets the job done.

That's a pure masterpiece 💖 This is very interesting and entertaining video😂 Love this stuff, hope you make more entertaining videos like this😊
Nice work. The video came out great. I'm really impressed by the audio quality of your voice. Also, try to imagine growing up with a video camera, and what you shot is what you got. Now, you can cut bits and pieces together, add music over it, add effects. Man... that was some amazing tech.
Such a beautiful masterpiece fin. I enjoyed it.
One of the most interesting things to me is that in your final video you used a lot of practical lighting for your cool effects, and it's not something that's lost on us today, not entirely at least, but I think it's cool in that it mirrors earlier film making, It's sweet to see!
This is so nostalgic! I used to use iMove quite a lot in the early 2000s as a kid, even versions earlier than iMovie HD. I totally remember that disk responded slowly error! I used to get that while recording all the time too. I remember connecting the camcorder through firewire and having to play the whole footage from the miniDV tape to import it.
Finzar thank you so much for your style and amazing skills! I've learned so much from your videos and love seeing the new videos you drop!
The iron man scene 😂. Another amazing video fin keep it up. Nice seeing papaFin has a logo now too lol

This is a great video. really put your foot into this one
This is sooo good 💗🤧
Kudos for your hard work!
The video is so good i don't speak about the last one but about the whole video that you just make with this software
Now you need to do a video where you upgrade the memory, put an SSD in it, replace the speakers, etc and then try it again to see if there's a difference. Also, Love the mk4 Golf!
Great Content! Keep up the good work! (You should make a Imac edits series lol)
Dude this is your greatest video. The time went into this is INSANE
Seriously made me laugh. Well done Fin, wait to Salesman Fin see's this! You should contact Ed and get him to put his bucket hat on and come back for the G3 editing challenge! Stay safe, have fun 💪😂👊😁🍺
Already enjoying the vid!
Amazing 😍 old time computer are crazy.
Back in School I always wanted one of these.
The next one should take it back even further old school and you should try to edit using actual film reels. Would be interesting to see for those of us who grew up on the computer stuff
As a vintage tech lover, this is amazing.
Beautiful music video. Literally bringing back memories with the old camera lmao 😂
Hi Fin, Your videos are great, really great. But as they take so much work the frequency is less, that's cool if you are ballin' with presets - which look like they are worth investing in Adobe for! However I think you would do phenomenal just talking about stuff you know about or reacting, maybe use the side channel if you don't want to dilute this channel, but really think you would do well just talking to camera - you are a funny, interesting guy. Anyway, keep going and cheers for the super useful content.
Great Job Finzae, You put a lot of effort to make this vid ! And thats a 2000s materpiece XDDD Keep up
Nice video! I would love to see you edit on an iMac G4 or iMac G5. They can be a lot less painful, and still before KZread!
Great stuff man
This is a great video, it reminds me of the videos my parents made with a camcorder and cassette tapes.
Common Finzar W keep up the great work

1. I'm over here struggling to edit on mobile and then there's Finzar, editing on a 2001 computer and has made a masterpiece 2. For anyone that wants to know, the original song is called G6.
Gold. Takes you right back.
That old camera footage legit looks cool❄️❄️
Well done Fin!
This Mac just reminds me of, "The files are IN the computer." Great video as always!
3:54 thats prefect profile picture right there finzar, use it.
Am 35 - used this machine in media studies. Edited film and had many, horrible, beautiful flashbacks. Cheers lad.
Few errors I spotted in the video : 0:28 it's not a macbook... (but you said iMac g3 later so not that bad) 1:06 not millihertz but megahertz (1 millihertz = 0.001 hertz, 1 megahertz = 1 000 000 hertz, not quite the same) 4:48 and 5:22 if the USB didn't work it's because USB c is not compatible with USB 1.1 (the ones on the machine), same for the USB hub, it was probably USB 2.0 But overall great video!
Loved it
I had a 2008 Macbook, and right around that time they had created a completely new version of iMovie, but everyone hated it right out of the gate because there were so many basic bits of functionality that had existed in iMovie HD that weren't present in the new version. So Apple allowed people to download iMovie HD for free, which I did and used to make at least a handful of videos around that time. This takes me back! Also, if you had a USB stick you wouldn't have had to record the audio directly into the terrible microphone like that--you could have just imported mp3s. But the method you chose it probably helped the lo-fi style.
The world is a bit brighter now. Thank you for this video and song
All my early videos were edited with iMovie HD. You can totally switch around part of the clips, you just need to separate them first

Ah maaate. I remember using a version of these at collage. Except we had to hook our video cameras up via scart. I think that was around 2004/2005. I remember creating some proper random films and a gothic music video with these.
