If u download you’re raw DNA you can upload it to companies like “we gene” that specialize in Asian ancestry, or “my true ancestry” which compares your dna to ancient civilizations and 10,000 ancient individuals which is pretty cool, loved you’re video!!✨💕

I already did a MyHeritage DNA-test which seemed a bit unclear for my asian heritage. It said that I'm roughly 6% Indonesian, Malay and Filipino, with 1.5% Chinese and Vietnamese. However, my mom also did a DNA-test at MyHeritage and those results said that she is 18.7% Thai and Cambodian, with 15.1% Indonesian Malay and Filipino with no Chinese/Vietnamese heritage. For me it's still a little unclear. I may want to try Ancestry DNA as well. Thank you for this video.

I took one a couple of months ago and found out I’m 27.46% Japanese & Korean, which really surprised me because both of my parents came from Fujian and identify as Han Chinese So I got my mom to do it annnnd, she’s 23.33% Japanese & Korean, which is quite strange considering how similar our percentages are I’ve ordered another test kit for my dad yesterday and I’m curious how his results will turn out lol…

It's not accurate. It just means you share 27.46% northeast asian blood with someone who "claims" they're japanese/korean. That percentage can be from an ethnic minority (Manchu, Daur, Evenki, Oroqen).

my family tree book says our family migrated from the Wuhang area generations ago and we ended up in Guangdong. My great-great-grandfather was one of the early immigrants to the US in the early 1900s'. Hong Kong people are a mixed group from the many migrations over the years from all parts of China.

You should try get your parents and your grandparents (if possible ofc) to test and see what their results are then you can confirm who is Parent 1 and Parent 2, will also confirm if your dad's family was actually from Hong Kong lol. You may actually have some Korean in you. 3% would translate to about a 3x great-grandparent. So with some more research and more DNA testing of family members, you may find something. Ancestry has the most records online so is great for researching and finding out more about your family but as a fellow Asian, I know how much harder it is for us to find info on our family history compared to more Western, European families because records were so scarce in the East. But you never know, you may find out your actual surname too through doing this research. Good Luck!

That was interesting thanks for sharing! You should be proud to be basically 100% Chinese! And I'm guessing the reason there's no Hong Kong showing up in your results is cos its a more recent city that people moved to live in later? Like most Chinese would originate from the mainland then move to places like HK and Singapore.

Yes. Most of the Cantonese in Hongkong did come from China which was why Hong wasn’t mentioned. One of Hongkong’s and south China’s original inhabitants were fishermen (boat people). Those boat people were from the baiyue tribe who used to live on land. The people from northern China started migrating south from the qin dynasty onwards. When the northern Han Chinese moved south, they took over the land, the baiyue people became marginalised and were eventually pushed off the land and ended up as seafarers (boat people). These baiyue people (southern China’s original inhabitants) originally came from the Malay archipelago thousands of years ago. Baiyue people’s ancestors are of austronesian heritage. the original inhabitants of Taiwan are from austronesian heritage too. I too did a dna test. I am from the UK, I am Chinese, my parents are from hongkong. I have Gaoshan blood and Malay blood in me. So I am a bit austronesian.

I've had 3 DNA tests (& one that was sent to another lab for confirmation, this one was court ordered because it was requested by my son's dad for my paternity suit, if it came out positive he would pay for his, mine, & our son's tests $400 dollars each, which he did have to pay for 😂) anyways they've (my DNA) tests have all taken between 6-8 weeks, & all 3 have been different from each other. The 1st one was from LabCorp (paternity DNA test) results showed Mongolian, Siberian, Central Asia, Russia, & Eastern European. The 2nd was AncestryDNA: Central & Mesa American, South American specifically Bolivian & Peruvian, Scotland, & Sardinian. The 3rd was MyHeritage: Central America, Siberian, Inuit - Canada & Greenland, Buryatia, Finland, Sami (Laplanders), Western Russia - St Petersburg. Central Asia - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, & Tuva.

So I have done both Ancestry and 23 and Me, and others kits. The results will periodically change about every 1-3 year. They will update what they think you are. Over a decade ago Ancestry said I was 88% East Asian and 11% Pacific Islander, I think. Then it changed to Southern China and Taiwan. Sometimes it included a little Vietnamese. Now it is back 100 % Southern China. It will change. Your DNA relatives will be the same and continue to increase as time goes on. I had a different European DNA kit and it said I was few percent Scandinavian decent. It was the only kit that said that. I wonder if the had a contaminated kit or the Asian baseline was mixed race.

@@lotsoflovecindyIt will so don’t be too hung up the details as the truth. I have reached out to some dna relatives and a few gave me a their professionally researched trees. On one family tree the men with the same S last name married women with the same K last name for 5 generations! I think it must have bee like this before 1960’s. Also your relative may be pedicted to be a 3rd cousin but he may further 5th cousin. If you can get and parents, cousins, and siblings tested, it would help narrow things down. My mom has a predicted 2nd cousin that does not show up in my results. But this means the 50% genes i inherited from her, didn’t include the 2% she shares with this alleged 2nd cousin, who could be related further up the family tree. (You look like someone else, I know, do you have family in the states?). I am Chinese American. :-). I understand your struggle. Being stereotyped is not cool. I think teachers for some reason never thought I had a learning disability. I had to initiate testing for myself as an adult. It is sad my childhood teachers didn’t initial that in the 13 years of was in elementary school and high school and first few years of college! I am glad to watch you on KZread channel.

I have a explanation for your Korean dna. If it's a ancient tracing and not modern. During the Tang era a shitload of Koreans got "enslaved" (not really in a traditional sense) and interbred with after they assimilated into Chinese culture. Don't take this as gospel. Just giving a theoretical explanation. It'll overlap with northern China setting
