This is such wholesome content with your grandma, I love that you're revisiting and remembering the places you lived in during your childhood. As someone who immigrated to the US from Sri Lanka when I was 7 years old, this reminds me of when I would visit and be reminded of familiar places from my childhood. My parents were farmers so we lived in the rural areas as well. Also (not me writing a whole essay lol), I found the part where you said that your trauma blocked out most of your childhood so relatable lol

this made me really think because i am genuinely so proud of this generation for making cultures feel more valid and honest now because i grew up never thinking much about my culture but i realised that was because people didn’t really understand asian culture or thought it was different but more particularly a weird kind of different. i used to hate how my filipino family and friends would take up so much space in public places and talk so loudly but i’ve grown comfortable with that and realise that that’s just what family and home is. i love how people’s cultures are being more embraced these past couple of years. i feel more proud and happy to be within an asian group and culture 🫶🏽 anyways para over this video just made me feel really proud :’)

I'm 23 Viet Asian American and I haven't been back to Vietnam since I was 6 yrs old. I've always felt like I didn't deserve to go back bc of how "American" I am, that I wouldn't appreciate the culture enough, or that my relatives will judge me. This vlog has literally changed that mindset - I want to go back and see my family and explore Vietnam now that I'm older. You inspire me, Mai. Love you so much

And see how my grandparents lived for most of their lives before moving to Australia during the Vietnam war. Unfortunately, I didn't get to Vietnam due to some difficulties, however seeing Mai travelling there and showing Vietnamese culture through their food, routines, markets etc. I feel like I got to experience going to Vietnam for a little bit. Thank you Mai

This was such a cinematic video Mai! It's nice to see the your perspective of the culture and how the people live in Vietnam in contrast to how you live in NYC. And your experience seems so wholesome. I realty enjoyed this x

I loved seeing this! I’m south Asian and there are so many similarities I saw in this video to my parents home country! The crazy traffic, washrooms, small shops and the vibe is so similar! I think this is my favorite vlog from you! 💖

OMG! Vietnam looks really impressive, the culture, food, views... The way you embrace and re-explore your culture is also so inspiring. Most people on the internet show just American way aesthetic things and moments. So seeing you represent different cultures and places so precious to me.

just a reminder that sometimes bargaining/haggling isnt necessary! esp as an influencer, paying in full can actually help these vendors bc the rent isnt cheap and the goods they sell arent niche so getting a solid customer base is really tough. you mentioned in your video previously that you want to help uplift others, so lets start from people who need it the most
