This video teaches teaches you how to study for or a prevent the dreaded MCAT retake. My name’s John, I’m a second year medical student at the top of my class and I failed the MCAT three times before I scored in the 90th percentile. I then went on to become a professional tutor in an attempt to help as many students avoid the mistakes I made. Let me tell you what I did differently when I prepared to take the MCAT. For the final time.
In case you didn't know, I'm a current medical student and have a hobby for making free MCAT resources on KZread. I was a professional MCAT tutor for years before I decided to go back to medical school and scored in the 90th percentile on my own MCAT in 2020.

do you have any advice? and how long did it take
This is the only mcat prep company that matters tbh. You guys seem to be professional and genuinely caring.
“I’m from the Deep South and we don’t talk like that” is the most relatable and real thing I’ve heard especially since I’m from THE VERY DEEP SOUTH
Thanks John for this 🎉
This channel is such a blessing! Thank you.
So good!
This channel is amazing!
You are the best MCAT KZreadr. Your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed. Thanks for these useful tips.
You dropped this 👑
You’re truly a humble and caring guy. By saying you’re not coming across condescending said it all. It’s true we can forget sentence structures and grammar. We get stuck in our old ways. Thank you for this!

Thank you so much, John! I needed this video. I bombed the f*c out of my exam compared to my FLs. I’m disappointed, but I am ready to take it on again.

Best of luck Alexa! You're gonna kill it. Half the battle is learning this resilience and if you already have that, medical school will be that much better:-) keeeep goingggg
You look like a cousin of mine. And I love how a southern brother can be the face of success. I appreciate you man.
I found you 3 days before my second attempt at the MCAT. I know I am not nearly as ready as I could be, so I am going to use these resources for try #3. I am so glad you and Maggie chose to do this. Thank you for saving me $3,000 and a lot of extra headache. You guys are the best!

you got us in your corner this time around. let's get it!
Do you mind sharing your scores for your attempts? What do you consider a low score to finally achieve one in the 90th percentile? Was there an upward trend or a significant jump on your 4th time around? It would really paint a picture showing your tenacity and drive (and give others some motivation and a realistic view). Many thanks.
How would you recommend starting from scratch to study for the MCAT?
Thank you for all of these. Will you start a tutoring option on your website?

@@InformingFutureDoctors thank you. I will watch for it.
Thank you for the video! I’ll comment some suggestions. Can you guys make videos on how to go about content and note taking? I’m currently studying and I am finding myself losing a ton of time taking notes and then trying to squeeze some practice questions at the end of all the note taking. It makes the process be super tedious and long and I feel like there is a much more efficient way. Any suggestions would be amazing

@@InformingFutureDoctors I meant moreso like note taking while reviewing content!!! Like for example when you and Maggie prepped, did you guys type or hand write notes? or did you just use the books, khan academy, and the milesdown decks?

@@InformingFutureDoctors I’m sorry I meant in wrens of note taking. I am spending too much time taking notes during content review and I wanted to see if you guys could make a video on how to take notes during the content review phase
I am terrible at kinematics. I can understand the basic questions but not complex ones. Other physics is annoying but I understand it and drill practice questions and flashcards on anki. I tried tutoring it helped some but I'm still terrible. Do you think this will haunt me on test day or should I try tutoring again?

To be honest, bare bones kinematics like Jimmy threw a rock off a cliff at 14 m/s blah blah…isn’t highly represented on the MCAT. As a nerd, it is my due diligence to say that kinematics underlies all of the rest of physics, but if you’re getting other physics q’s right on your practice MCATs, you’re probably fine.
Hello 😊
"u r mad at AAMC for including more physics...." 🤣
