Sort of. There was another point that Mothers Milk tried to kill Soldier Boy because he killed his family. Butcher didn't want to quarrel with Mothers Milk. It's also just the idea that either frenchie or mm could have taken temp v before the season finale to help defeat homelander but they don't because the logic they have which makes no sense. They can't take v because its below them expect kimiko whose praised for her choice, its just a bit strange than kimiko opinion is presented better than hughie taking it. But also what can the cast actually do without temp v or solider boy, they can't win, if mm doesn't want to rely on soldier that's fine but give any other plan to beat homelander that's actually useful and won't result in the death of thousands. Also just think hughie would have gotten cancer if he had taken but what if he still dies by a supe like homelander at least you could say hughie would die in peace rather than have homelander still running around killing hundreds of innocents.

Whats crazy is that soldier actually wanted to do better in the end and even admits that he wanted homelander to not turn out to be the piss of shit he was which is why he called him a disappointment. He wanted to try make shit right after all the wrong he did but butcher decided to fuck it all up. Whats crazy is that soldier boy wasnt even targeting bryan. Bryan was just in the way. All butcher had to do was drag him out the way and let soldier finish off homelander

Soldier Boy is the only person who didn't abandon his promise no matter the circumstances.

Soldier Boy was a man of commitment and that's what i like about him. He doesn't change his mind like butch did.

That writing was shitty, that random spur of character development from butcher made no sense in this moment. This was just plot so there could be another season of home lander

This scene kicks ass! Solder Boy true to his word regardless if he was a dick. Butcher conflicted. Try to put yourself in both guy's state of mind and it's a beautiful recipe for disaster. Graying out the clear cut good and bad/black and white. Great stuff

The best character in the whole of the series definitely soldier boy ❤ love him

I don't care what people think, but Soldier Boy is the only person in the entire show I respect.

I get that Butcher made a promise to keep Ryan always safe to Becca. I mean he himself said that blood doesn’t form bonds or relationships when he said to Soldier Boy that Homelander wasn’t his son even though biologically he was. What I never will understand is that Butcher had the perfect opportunity to explain to Soldier Boy, that how Ryan even though being related to Homelander, was more of Becca and Butcher’s son and I also think that both Soldier Boy and Butcher missed the perfect opportunity to form a good grandparent-grandson and father-son relationship respectively with Ryan. Butcher, Soldier Boy and Ryan, all 3 could’ve teamed up to beat Homelander, but they missed that opportunity big time because Ryan was already pissed off at Butcher and the reason: MISCOMMUNICATION.

Soldier boy would have wanted Ryan dead if he defeated Homelander. He's a bloodline to the family and we know what soldier boy thought of Homelander. Butcher realised that too, switching swiftly to Homelanders side to prevent that

@@GardG4m3r don’t think they will. There’s a statement about the end of season 4 that says Homelander gets his hands on Soldier Boy “having just woken him up or he’s about to”. So great going to Butcher, by not using his brain, he ensures that Homelander now has control over the only two other supes who are strong enough to take him out.

All i learned from the boys season 3 is sometimes you gotta be toxic to get s**t done.

Stop acting like ryan was evil like damn he was a traumatised child who just wants to a parent figure who will accept him 💀 i agree with butchers desicion unlike his comic version this butcher always had a humanity inside he is not a complete edgy op power fantasy character unlike comic he has weak points and ryan is one of them only reason why butcher screwed up ryan situation was because of his lack of a healty communication with people also its shown in series that butcher always someone who becomes attached to certain people and tries to be nice to them (becca hughie lenny) and ryan is one of them a child who scared because of his powers and easy to manipulate dont blame him for a situation that he doesnt able to control

But he fucked up their only real chance of killing the big bad and even suddenly started defending him too which doesn’t match up with how he was written in the past three seasons. He wanted Homelander dead. He found someone who could actually accomplish that, but right when it was finally about to happen, Butcher suddenly betrays Soldier Boy instead. Butcher. Fucked. Up. All he did was allow Homelander to KEEP being a threat that has killed and will continue killing hundreds of people, and even paved the way for Ryan to grow into Homelander 2.0. 👏👏👏

But eventually butcher will even regret more because of saving him. thats the point of this scene. And thats probably first time butcher didnt choosed revenge. Which is good character development even its ended with failure .

I also hated the sudden defense of Homelander when he was talking to Soldier Boy as that just seems ooc for Butcher to me. He could’ve gotten Ryan out of there and left HL and SB to duke it out but no, he screwed over SB and likely their only chance of killing HL.
