    I really love how original is your content. Although there are top-notch tech KZreadrs out there, they are all assembling machines that most of the times a small percentage of people can afford, or reviewing graphics cards that cannot be bought. Granted I know there's not much they can do and they try to provide content of what's available. But my point is they are all different flavors of pretty much the same. Your content is awesome when I am in a moment of needing geeky nerdy fun. I have to admit thanks to the top-notch KZreadrs I was able to assemble a computer as recently as this week AND was able to troubleshoot that the motherboard was the problem (ugh it was a pain but I found it), so they do have their place but again my point is your content is really different and pure entertainment value. Now, having said that, I would love to see a video of you taking on those top-notch tech KZreadrs and assembling a top-tier computer that you may actually keep after squeezing every penny of all your sponsors, including Vileda :)

    I like Dawid's videos but trying to run unreasonable newer workloads on old hardware rarely shows what it really was like owning that hardware at that time. In contrast, Phil's Computer Lab is a great channel that shows the performance with games/OS/workloads accurate of that era and gives a real appreciation for old hardware showing the performance of that hardware for workloads that existed at that time.

Though in mine, I put a core 2 duo E8400 in it, 4gb ram and a Radeon X1950 GT 512mb. using it for those 2000's era games. and it runs brilliantly. FEAR at 1440x900 max settings *No soft shadows* runs at 45-89fps. Half life 2 is 50-112fps at 1680x1050.

    I may have a tip for booting from such old devices: Just burn the install image to your HDD and install the system to a secondary partition on there. That works when you can't boot from anything else other than your system drive, I had to do that in the past with such old systems and it works pretty well but requires some more work to then expand the partition later on

  • @HappyBeezerStudios

    @HappyBeezerStudios

    2 жыл бұрын

    The hardest limit would probably be the motherboard. No oc, probably limited to 4 GB RAM and lack of drivers for modern OS. I'm writing this from a C2Q oc'ed to 4.1 GHz with 8 GB DDR2 and a GTX 660 Ti, which can run Doom 2016 and Witcher 3 at playable framerates. It basically reaches into the lower end of i5 territory, which means tons of games up until maybe 2015-17 will run just fine. So the platform itself is still capable. Obviously not as much as something less ancient, but for the right price can still make for an okay entry gaming rig.

  • @OverTallman

    @OverTallman

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@HappyBeezerStudios IIRC this is a Dell Vostro 200/400, there's also Inspiron 530 which use the same hardware but has silver case instead of black. The motherboard is indeed the hard limit here, but it's not like what you think: There were 2 motherboards for this model, G33M02 and G33M03. They're pretty much the same with the exception of CPU support: G33M03 supports quad core while G33M02 does not. Unfortunately Dawid has the G33M02 motherboard, as seen at 2:15. Still fine though, it supports E7000 and E8000 Core 2 Duos and since it's an LGA775 board there's BSEL mod for some decent overclocking. Even better, this board supports up to 8GB RAM, or maybe 16GB if you can find real 4GB DDR2 sticks (not those AMD-only sticks in eBay) Definitely has potential, with a better CPU, GPU and more RAM it can some kickass XP gaming machine.
