Your third phrase on your egg alarm should be "Shiver me timbers!" And I will forever think now, when I see a runny egg: "It's gone to the toilet!" Cheers, Barry.

You should totally try and get a hold of a genuine Ove-Glove (or two). It's the product that the "Global TV" Oven Glove is ripping off. The materials on the real one are excellent, and you can hold onto super hot pans for however long you want. The knock-offs tend to use thinner and lower quality fabric, leading to heat transferring much quicker (which is why you nearly got burnt). I bought a set of 2 of them for my mother a few years ago, and after using them myself, I instantly bought another set for myself.

Can't remember where I found this tip, but rubbing your soapy fingers on something stainless steel, like your tap/faucet, does actually help remove some of the garlic smell!

the plate is actually a traditional spanish garlic grater, people normally would make those by hand and sell them on the street

We have that garlic plate! Putting a little olive oil in the dish makes a nice quick bread dip with the garlic! It's also great for hard cheeses and other things.
