The Watertok trend is about enhancing water with 'sugar-free' syrups and drink packets. So they are not adding calories, as many are still on a weight loss regimen following bariatric surgery. But once you add in that much flavoring, sugar-free or not, it's no longer what, imho.

@@zzigzag286 actually it's something that doctors advise for bariatric patients as they need to meet a specific daily water intake (66 oz iirc) and at the same time they may have a thing called water nausea, where even a sip of plain water makes you physically sick, but they cannot drink sugary juices, sodas with any carbonation or any caffeinaated drink, so they have to add something to the water to make it so it doesn't make them sick, hence the sugar-free flavouring

@@dragonfly9821 bariatric patient here, there are other choices than the water tok trend. I use Mio in my water to get in my 64 oz daily, I don't add a ton just enough to give it a flavor. Any sugar free water additive works just as well. I don't agree with this whole trend of how much sugar free syrup can we add till we're stuck in the bathroom taking a trip down old $hit's Creek though. The sugar free stuff can and will tear a person up. Also my surgeon and dietitian don't condone the while water recipe thing either simply because it's an artificial sweetener and too much of anything is never a good thing, they recommend things like Mio, crystal light, minute maid zero, and protein water (there's more but the list is kinda long), with limited use of those sugar free syrups (basically you shouldn't be consuming as much syrup as water, I know they aren't but it's too much).

I seriously love your mom. The way she supports you is amazing. You are very lucky to have a mom like her❤
Ah "water" nice.

It’s so strange that you didn’t like the mandarine & chocolate combo. Maybe it is because you used Hersheys. Because the combo OG great quality dark chocolate and orange or mandarine is quite delicious in my opinion. Try buying a really good chocolate with those flavors and you’ll see the difference. It's not Hershey's (he is American, so I'm assuming he is used to the taste of it), it's the milk and agar. Chocolate orange is usually dark chocolate + orange extract/peel/dried orange. By adding agar/gelatin and milk you create something like a chocolate gummy, and I can't imagine it tasting great with fresh orange (not to mention the texture, ew).
@roxienatura

I think the recipe is very far off from a normal chocolate and orange combo. Considering how little chocolate went into it, it probably just tasted like an orange with a neutral milk jelly, which is a textural nightmare.
I don't get why everyone is so bothered by these water ladies. Most of the time they are using 40 ounces of water to mix all their sugary powders into. So while the drinks are definitely really sweet using a regular size cup that might hold somewhere between 16 to 25 ounces of liquid is of course going to result in an unpalatable nightmare.
Water tok it literally just Kool aid. I would boil the eggs in the soup and then peel them and let them soak more. That could also be a way to speed up the cooking for them to be done all in one day.

They sound good as I love chocolate orange lol.
I made the french onion deviled eggs and they ARE fantastic! Highly recommend if you’ve got the time to make them. We also really like fried deviled eggs with peppered bacon but also have made them with lobster or shrimp. Either way, the serving platters are empty.
I like Chocolate Oranges, but that gelatin brick is a little frightening to me!
So chocolate orange deserts are in fact a thing that exists, is relatively common I believe, and quite delicious in my opinion. Typically I see it as either orange shaped and sized chunks of chocolate that you break into "slices", but is just an orange shaped hard chocolate with some orange flavoring. I also see chocolate orange sticks, which have a chocolate outside and a sweet orange feeling. So while it might just be that you don't like the chocolate orange flavor combo, I suspect there may be something else going on. Which is probably the form this takes. It may look cool, but even as a big fan of chocolate orange stuff, just whole orange slices coated with chocolate milk gelatin doesn't really sound great to me. I think that if you're gonna just use actual oranges in a chocolate desert like this, coating orange wedges with a hard, darker chocolate would be better. You get the bitterness of the darker chocolate, with the tart sweet juice of the orange inside, and the texture combo sounds more appealing to me then using gelatin.
For the chocolate and orange dessert, I would try dark chocolate and maybe add orange liquor for more flavor. Also probably candied orange would be better.
Those eggs looked AMAZING, another banger video David!
I mean most juices are made from a concentrate (probably very syrupy) dumped in water. especially the smooth kind with added sugar. soooooo people can drink whatever they want and it's valid even if you do this just because you prefer sweet drinks, nobody has to prove that they're an "adult" by drinking plain water but I'm also in the camp "it just bothers me that they call this water it's dumb" lol
David dissing a recipe and then reluctantly admitting it's actually pretty good never gets old 😂
Im not a "Watertok" person at all but the whole point is to use sugar free stuff.... Lol
Dark chocolate and orange is a awesome flavor combo. Everytime Christmas time comes around I get excited cause Terry's chocolate oranges come out from their hidey holes
It is always so satisfying to watch you cook
I feel like if the chocolate was more of mousse it would be better. And if it was dark chocolate. Chocolate and orange is a pretty classic flavour combo but it is *very* rich and usually reserved for small pottions (terry's chocolate orange which is made to be shared by a family or group, and bonbons like in the Quality Street tins you get dark chocolate and orange ones) I hate weak milk chocolate flavoured things, especially if its a jello or pudding texture. But i can think of so many other applications where it would be tasty using chocolate, orange, and a whipped or gelled dessert. The potential is definitely there.
Watching this in the rain, great video
I just made dark chocolate covered tangerines. Better than strawberries.
Thanks for the video!
Not a comment on that specific recipe, although maybe using a better chocolate would have helped (and obviously chocolate orange as a flavor combo is definitely a thing) but there's a super expensive shop that has different whole or half fruit in jelly (although not chocolate jelly) called Minamoto Kitchoan.
Water tok ladies use zero calorie “syrups”, and an average of 40 ounces of water. It doesn’t look like those syrups are sugar free and it looks like you have maybe 16 ounces of water. That’ll change the flavor profile dramatically
Yet another Home-run of a video! You're out of this world bro!
The bubblegum water makes more sense if you realize they were using 0 calorie 0 sugar syrup
Those eggs sound amazing and very time consuming. Will definitely be making those soon.
People calling those water concoctions "juice" annoys me more than calling it "water" ever will. Juice comes from fruits and vegetables. Those syrups and flavor packets have probably never been in the same room with anything natural, until they arrived at the store. Honestly, I use those little packets, and the liquid versions, all the time, so I get why people refer to the result as water. The liquid ones tend to be labeled water enhancers. The powders usually aren't, but if you came in via Mio, it's easy to understand why they're thought of that way. (It's punch or ice tea, imo, depending on the type you add.) Never tried flavored syrups. The other video I watched on the subject mentioned water tokers using sugar free ones, so the intended result might have been a bit less sickly sweet.
@Nassifeh

I think the *real* problem here is that Kool-aid, etc, is trademarked and nobody ever came up with a good generic name for what Kool-aid is. I understand why calling it "bubblegum water" sounds more appealing than "bubblegum drink". "Water enhancer" itself feels hyper misleading for something that is definitely just sugar-free drink mix, but people get what you mean. Definitely agree "juice" is absolutely the worst possible option here, 100%, this is like anti-juice.

In Australia, we have had flavoured water for years, except we call in cordial. Orange and chocolate can taste nice, England has Terry's chocolate Orange and it is great. Also, Hershey's isn't the best chocolate to use because it's doesn't have a strong chocolate flavour. If you add cocoa powder, it could have helped the flavour a bit. You can bulk caramelized onions in a slow cooker or sou vide. It takes like a day, but you can just leave it on it's own so you don't have to stir the entire time.
I love that you have Giada branded balsamic

Chocolate oranges, like the full candy that is sold (with just orange flavor and not the full-on fruit), are delicious. So I can see where that recipe was going, but yeah, it doesn't sound appealing. I think a chocolate ganache (which is SUPER flavorful) over oranges could work. Honestly, though, just get that chocolate orange candy, it is so good! And the chocolate comes separated like orange slices, it is so cute.
I will say WaterTok benefits me as someone who is intolerant to high fructose corn syrup (I get extremely sick) and hates the flavor of diet sodas. I'd rather add these syrups to some water or carbonated water to have something that tastes palatable rather than deprive myself of ever drinking something other than plain water and fruit juice. Sometimes people just want to be able to have things that fit within the lifestyle they have to lead.
There's an enzyme you can buy and apply to the citrus and it will dissolve the white bits
Chocolate and orange are a classic combo? Maybe its not a thing in America? Jaffa cakes, terrys chocolate orange to name a few.
Sliced onions, pinch of salt, tablespoon of brown sugar, toss. Put in crockpot covered on low 8-10 hours (I usually leave em over night) and boom you wake up to caramelized onions with way less effort.
For the oranges you can use liquid pectan I think the remove the pith.
the syrups the are othen being used are called Jordan's skinny syrups which is a sugar free keto alternative to normal drink flavourings, i do think its pretty hilarious that tiktokers are using coffee and alcohol mixers for there water but to each there own, its also an aussie owned company so you know its a good quality product

In the international food store, in the Hispanic foods section, there are milk based jello products you make yourself from the packages by mixing it with milk. Caramel, chocolate, pistachio etc. Its not good I agree. Jello just doesnt work in dairy products because like you said your focus is on the texture instead of the flavor. Plus they DO def seem to need more sugar added to them than say a starch based pudding.

Chocolate and orange is one of THE MOST classic pairings in dessert. I would have 100% suggested using a high quality (non Hershey’s, fucking…..ewww…) chocolate and using more sugar like you suggested. However, it may just be your aversion to textures sabotaging you. Idk what to tell you about that fact tho, people like jellies of all kinds. The texture is a non factor to most people.

i watched Tiffney Ferg's and Annamarie Forcino's videos on Watertok and they both really changed my opinion. They both brought up that many of the people making WaterTok content are former bariatric patients. Part of those surgeries involves going on a very strict all liquid diet after and depending on the surgery might even have trouble absorbing water. Even after that diet is over they have to keep a very high liquid intake from my understanding. Bariatric patients can be drinking like 64 oz of water every day. Many patients talk about how after surgery drinking plain water, something they could do fine before is not something they can do anymore, like it physically makes them feel ill but for some reason maybe flavored water doesn't or only room temp water, or ice cold ect. And learning all that kind of changed my mind on the whole thing. Like I am also picky about my water because I cant "taste" waster so have a water cooler nd get jugs delivered each month and will buy my favorite bottled water when I'm out. But that doesnt make me better than these women because mine is "really " water. Even if it isn't for health and they just like the taste thats fine I do worry about all the fake sugar stuff in some of those drinks but thats on them to deal with not me. I never thought i would have so much to say about unicorn water lol

There's also neurodivergent people. A lot of us hate plain water, for example I can drink plain water if it's in a metal or glass container SOMETIMES, but I can also taste the chlorine and minerals in the water which makes it far less pleasant to drink. I also can't handle water that's in plastic because I'll start tasting the plastic within 5 minutes haha It may not be as intense a reason as bariatric surgery, obviously, but it generally does bother me that the majority of neurotypical 'healthy' people bully and bash on folks who like to simply taste something better than chlorine in their water lol I know me and my girlfriend would be chronically dehydrated without various water flavorings.
