I think the term mob comes from mobile. In the very old days of text rpg's (muds) it was a way to refer to the npc's that move (over time they added a lot of functionality to them). The term mob just stuck.

it is insanely easy relative to other games. just saying, if the learning curve is what prevents you from trying it, it shouldnt. if you can read, use the tutorial tips, and google, you can play good

No... A mob is actually an enemy grouping. It can be one individual enemy, or the group that will automatically pull when one is aggro'd.

"mob" is a technical term, it's an abbreviation of "mobile object". as opposed to objects like chairs, which are just "ob"s.

Mob stands for Mobile and referes to a mobile unit (comming from Police language iirc).
