I seriously couldn't think of just one title for this video. Maybe.... A bee in the hand is worth two on the bush? If I hadn't caught it on camera you wouldn't have believed me again for the third time? Nah, that's way too long. So help me out and lets see how creative you would have been on this one.
Last year I had an amazing experience catching a swarm of honey bees and the video went crazy viral. Sharing the joy I have for such a small creature with the world is an honor to say the least. I've long said that the schools have failed us for the last few generations when it comes to education our children about bees. The only thing we hear about them anymore is when the mainstream media talks about Africanized bees attacking someone's dog because it gets ratings. I hope that my videos shows a different light on one of our most essential insects we have in this world.
So, the story goes like this. We had some friends over visiting the apiary when out of nowhere, a box of bees in the yard decided to swarm ( split in half and make a new colony). This is natures way of recreating a bee colony. It was such a cool experience for them. They had an opportunity to stand in the midst of thousands of bees and have no fear. Although bees can and will sting even during swarming, they generally are less likely to do so. After things settled down and they clustered on a low branch in the yard, I grabbed the camera and a bee hive to put them in. As they stood off nearby, I went to work catching the bees and the rest is queen catching history.
As always, I am humbled at the response of the KZread community for watching my videos and the great comments and questions you leave. As well as keeping them family friendly.
I try my best to respond to as many as I can even if it's just hitting that ❤️ to let you know I saw the comment. Thank you for taking the time to connect with me.

I can't know, why you have the "sight problem", but I know how it can bee :P and would like to suggest you take a look at some of the videos with japanese craftmanship. Find any short one (2 - 5 minutes is fine), and turn in on while listening to some of the "soft" music you like. I think, it could become meditative for you. IF you try, AND it works out for you, I'll explain, why I suggested it. Best wishes from Denmark..

As a guy who is relatively selective about his subscriptions (30, with only a handful of those that are REGULARLY active) and tends to keep them in the realm of "news" it always amazes me how when I get a Y.B.M. alert that THAT is ALWAYS the vid I go to before all others. While this may not be the first time you have this idea thrown out there, Yappy, hear me out; now I know you MUST have a tremendous bee farm (it would be a crying shame if you didn't) and you are probably enjoying the "fruits" of your labor in the form of RAW honey, but I can't help but scratch my head about the fact that I don't see any marketing for "Yappy's Bee Bite (raw) Honey"!?! Everyone surely knows the numerous benefits of RAW honey and I myself would happily purchase a jar (though I'll be expecting 2 "freeBEEies" for the name & idea) just to have it proudly sitting in my kitchen, or on my dining room table (packaged in an antiquated mason jar). Please tell me you are already doing this, or will in the future. You have a "talent" here that you really need to capitalize on before the world crumbles into dust!

I harvest honey but sell it out very regularly local. I only keep about 25 hives. More than that and they get overlooked. My primary with bees is removing them. I keep some up to my limit. The others go to new beeks or friends that I help out. When that slows down, I intend to go full production and just enjoy making honey.

You are just too cool. I love these videos. I'd need reading glasses and a lot more experience to find the queen though. Real pro work though. Now I can google all day long, but I want a real answer. I had a yellow jacket bee some time ago, land between my fingers and I watched him sting me. Ignorantly, I said, "stupid, now you're going to die" thinking that bees die after stinging. Instead, I watched him pumping venom into my hand and after about 20 seconds, I shooed him off me. So, I guess they don't die. So, here we go. When I have to remove a beehive for a homeowner, since it's part of my duties in my job which has nothing to do with bees oddly, I cut the branch and relocate the hive, I don't kill them, spray them, burn or smoke them out. I have been attacked sometimes and I understand they sense vibration as aggression. I've put my hand into the middle of dozens of them, and they never bother me. Anyway, what kind of bees are these that you can scoop them up in handfuls and do you have any suggestions for me since I'm sure the call to remove hives will continue. I don't want to wear gloves, I want to be kind to them, and yes, I'm a little nutty too, but I enjoy it.

The bees I deal with are honeybees. They are generally Italian genetic. Be careful messing with any bee. Some genetics are more defensive than others and will hurt you. There are many beekeepers who will help eemove bees for you if you don't have the experience or equipment to do so.

HOW did you see that queen so fast in that huge mass of wiggly little beasties????? My queen has a nice big red dot on her and I still can’t spot her that fast! 😂

Yappy you're A legend more a number of reasons. You can tell you really care about the bees and respect them, it's as if they know its you, the "trained idiot" lol. Your job is so important and you're very knowledgeable, it amazes me how quickly you find the Queen sometimes I mean, surely that's like looking for a needle in a very stingy hay stack. Fair play man. Love from Northern Ireland my man

You should do it in an empty hive holding it nearer to the tree, and fill it after you shake the bees inside. ;)

Love the videos! I have to be honest, though, and say that your almost falling off the truck was a lot scarier to watch than you sticking your hand into a swarm of bees... Especially after saying "I'm a trained idiot" Not OSHA approved, lol Keep up the great work! I have learned a lot about honey bees because of your videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm for the work.
