It's not right that these places make you stick to strict rules and pay for any potential damages but also expect you to stay in their disgusting filthy rooms and pay for the privilege!

I couldn't stay there without a proper window to look out of. I'd feel panicked and too claustrophobic!

Cracking video Mate . I was recently sent to Darlington on a multi day job and even though it was only less than 10 miles from my new place, I was told I was staying in a supposed hotel. It was a run down pub that is frequented by some very Dubious people. They were charging £20 per night . The only facility to use was a very dangerous bathroom. When I saw the state of the place, I refused to stay . I got into the van , called the boss and told her about the place and I was refusing to stay there and I was going to travel home . She came to see me on the job on the following morning and I showed her the photos, she was very shocked and couldn't apologise enough for not checking the place out before hand . She then spoke to the owner of the pub and told him she was refusing to pay for the room and told him she was reporting him for keeping such a place and he has since been shut down on health and safety issues. As for the window in the room where you were in the video, if it was not to fire safety standard , the owner wouldn't be allowed to hire the room out . The pink gloves could be your gimmick , lol . Yeah Darlington from the get go is a red flag lol tho if I was desperate for a bed it’s better than a cold floor but in your case I would of stayed in travel lodge or premier tbh that’s the only places I ever went to never went to a b&b etc

@marcusgirling At the time , I only lived in Durham, so the travel home was easy enough. I have since stayed at the Travelodge a few times on business and personal reasons. I now live in Darlington and enjoying my life along way better .

I would have thought that room is illegal, you need to be able to vacate safely incase of fire. Also, you have to have sufficient natural light from a window, so it doesn't seem to fit the bill.

No the room is legal, many hotels let rooms in the basement with no window at all.

​@darranbeal5947 Yeah, there's a lot of novelty hotels in old prisons, etc that have minimal or no windows. As long as fire routes are clearly marked and clear that's pretty much all you need

Hi I’m new to your channel love the videos, that room is a joke, especially the fact that the room is falling apart asking for a deposit! 😂 They should practice what they preach on the noise 😮plus the fact the room was not clean. Your so brave sleeping in that bed 😮

Hi. I wish you would inspect the st Albans hotel in Blackpool, between the central and south pier if remember " it in the front , it's cheap and awesome". Clean. And the best breakfast in Blackpool, , would love to know what you make of it. Get the bay window room with a double bed and bunk beds in the same room. Cheers

It’s not against the law with fire regulations regarding the window. ‘Easy Hotel’ from Easy Jet charge £10 extra for a window in their rooms lol (Daylight robbery lol). I was surprised about this when I stayed at one in Leeds. They also charge you to watch TV which I find bizarre.

I visit Blackpool 2 to 3 times a year and only stay in self catering 4 to 5 Star in Bispham and Blackpool North. Previously, I have stayed in some places similar to the ones you are visiting and have had to check out, immediately! Your videos are extremely helpful in showing people potential places to stay and ones to avoid, as well as things to check before bedding down. I do exactly the same, anywhere I stay. Thank you for your time and hard work.

I would agree with the £50 breakage fee IF the room was perfect to start with. As you showed, the table was already wobbly that won't be long until it collapses on someone.

Just subscribed to your channel I used to go and spend my summer holiday to Blackpool every year for about 30odd years stayed at the same hotels for a bit then tried other hotels some really good others not so good

UV is fascinating. We got one recently because we had to track down the place where the cat had "gone" when we accidentally shut the door to the place where the litter tray is, and we only had the smell to trace it by. Very useful indeed.

Wouldn't it be a good idea to check with the UV light, then clean and check again to see if the stain has gone? That way you know you've cleaned it well and got rid of the stain. It could be clean but the stain is deep rooted.

Maybe it should be a rule of there license that hotellers should have a uv light to check for things that need a deep clean. Wonder if when they are inspected the use uv lights.

Hi Dan great video yes keep using the u v light. The door should be fire proof. I would not have used the pillow. Keep doing these videos they are great fun to watch. I live in Blackpool and have enjoyed the ones you did here. Waiting for the next installment.

For what you got I think £27 was a bit expensive, I'd need a TV, that bed would be a no go for me, infact that whole room would be a no go for me, to enclosed for me, I'd need a bigger window to be settled in that room, Well done you for braving it out, 😊

Pillows are disgusting, have thrown better away. New pillow cost very little and pillow protector should be mandatory. For any hotel and B&B full mattress protectors should be put on. After Covid you would think this would be done. With all the cleaners in the bathroom WHY is it so dirty!! Considering they charge a deposit for any damages (which I think is a good idea) you would think the cleanliness of the bed and bathroom would be up to scratch. Would be a good idea to deduct money off them if it isn't. quid pro quo. Would like to know why stainless steel goes rusty?? unless it is not stainless steel. (shower fittings)

People should just be honest and if they break something then just own up rather than handing over your cash just in case you decide to leg it! I understand why they take it though because unfortunately there’s a small few who do damage things and just leave and then we all get penalised. Having seen your vids I’m not sure I could eat at that dodgy desk especially when you’ve not run the UV light over it 😅. Asking guests to be quiet is an impossible task because the b&bs or guest houses are predominantly used by ‘drunks’ just as a bed to sleep in and they’re not bothered about being quiet. I wouldn’t have thought people spend more than 2 nights there. I’ve just subscribed by the way and there’s something addictive about looking at weird stains and crap beds 😂😂as long as I don’t have to stay in the rooms !!

"I almost sound proud of the stain I've found" made me laugh. I honestly couldn't have slept in that bed... I'd be taking a sleeping bag with me if I was doing these types of reviews. 😂

I hope he puts waterproof covers on the new mattresses, that would be good. I've had two mattresses ruined by my husband 'dreaming he was in the bathroom peeing'', Plus, it would help with other body fluids as well.

Wow thats crazy looks like a cell it's that small and the damages fees they should have told you when you booked so you knew bit of a trap, but rules are crazy tho and do like the UV stuff gives a different angle on things but one day do your house that would be crazy to do with UV for sure

That room was very small you could hardly move about in it. It seems smaller than a box room which I used to sleep in before I married and it seemed bigger. First impressions it looks cosy and warm but its a different story once you stayed there.

That £50 damage fees up front is terrible. If you could afford that then you'd probably stay somewhere nicer Also, it's like they treat you as some kind of ASBO just because you paid for a cheap room. UV I'm thinking of getting me one

The cleaners would probably have 5/10 mins per room to clean it, change the bedding and all that. Time depends on the room and if their doubled up or not.

You ought to go to the Crown Hotel in Longton Stoke-on-Trent they have bad reviews from that hotel.

Stoke-on-Trent is a run down area but longton has been done up looking good now. Some areas are ok. I want to see it under UV light 😁
