I stayed in Scotland's wilderness hostel. Located a 20-minute walk from Corrour Station, the UK's most remote railway station, Loch Ossian hostel is located deep in the Scottish Highlands and is 10 miles from the nearest public road.
In my previous video I caught a train from Rannoch Station to Corrour Railway Station and shared the amazing Corrour Station House restaurant and the area surrounding Corrour train station. You can watch that video here: • I Went To The UK's Mos...
This time, I share my experience staying overnight in the remote and isolated Loch Ossian hostel. Loch Ossian hostel in Scotland is the UK's highest hostel and is such a fantastic and wild place to visit. I recommend this Hostelling Scotland Hostel to those seeking solitude and looking to get away from it all.

In this video and for future ones, there will be subtitles available in 24 languages, including English. English and Japanese subtitles are written manually. For the other 22 languages, machine translation software is used which may occasionally lead to less-than-perfect translations. The selection of languages was made taking into account viewer requests on KZread and Instagram, as well as the regions with the largest viewership. To activate the subtitles, click the "CC" button below the video, then go to the settings to select your preferred language. The subtitles will appear on screen. If you'd like to adjust the subtitles' position on the screen, you can click and drag them to your preferred location (moving the position may not work if watching on a TV). Here is the list of available languages, sorted alphabetically: * Arabic * Chinese (Simplified) * Chinese (Traditional) * Danish * Dutch * English * Finnish * French * German * Hindi * Indonesian * Italian * Japanese * Korean * Malaysian * Norwegian * Filipino * Portuguese * Russian * Scottish Gaelic * Spanish * Swedish * Thai * Turkish Thanks for watching this video! Oh my, I camped there with mates circa 40 odd years ago. Train up from Glasgow, we fished and beer''d. We ran out of food and a lovely auld man at Corrour station made us boiled eggs. Think he was the Station Master. Good memories, bit of a walk down to the Hostel area....

Great Video! I stayed at Loch Ossian Youth Hostel for 2 night almost 30 years ago, it looks like it has had a makeover since then, but it was still a great experience. We walked round Loch Ossian, fished in the loch, catching loads of trout. We also had a close up experience with the local deer that came right up to the Hostel door to be fed by hand, one actually had a drink of tomato soup from a mug, ending up with red lips 😀

So fascinated by your worldliness, Ruth. It's most endearing. If -- from Japan, mind you -- you recall the Lawson Milk Co., they were orphaned from the Lawson's convenience stores that I grew up with, near Cleveland, OH (originally under the same name that lingers, in Japan.) My, how small the world has gotten! (I didn't sleep through this segment, mind you. I am merely prone to flights of fancy.)

Many years ago, a friend was touring Scotland by train & had booked a night in a B&B somewhere "near" Corrour Station, but didn't realise how remote it is. When he arrived there it was evening, late in the year, and it was pitch dark with not a single light in sight. Standing completely alone, he was starting to panic. it was dark, cold, and there was little shelter. Spending the night there would lead to a case of exposure at best. Then, in the distance he saw a light, slowly heading toward him, and eventually a Land Rover arrived at the station - It was the owner of the B&B, who'd come to collect him. He'd never been so relieved to see someone !

Bloody dangerous wearing a sleep mask and ear phones in an hostel. I couldn’t do that and I’m male.I am Scottish and proud of that fact however I think I worry for your safety. You say in other videos that you have anxiety , and I will never make light of anyone who may suffer in anyway from mental health problems, I just can’t equate both points. I really like your videos and In the most part you are cheerful and rightfully independent which I admire. I hope your loved ones know where you are as you and I very well know texting or phoning is not always possible. Having said all this please do not let me crush your dream for that is not my intention… I hope you find what you are seeking and I think if it is not close to home then it is not too far off. I didn't mean YOU to take a black bag to the remote parts of your travels, I was thinking more in terms of , say, some fresh food, or useful storable foods or a few blocks of wood or coal for the fire ... Jings, you had electricity - so no back boiler on that lovely stove ... Ah well, next time I come around I'll know what to take. ... Huh that's a heavy load to carry the distance, innit! But being an armchair warrior this stormy morning, we are enjoying your short reports. Good Luck!

It really is, especially as the hostel had no wifi / network coverage! Regular supermarkets have a few Japanese items like noodles, wasabi or soya sauce. But Asian supermarkets is where you will find much more. Those miso soup sachets are an easy way to try Japanese food. One sachet has the soup paste and one sachet has the dried veg. Udon noodles and broth or gyoza (dumplings) are easy also. I make dumplings and show how to cook them in a video coming soon, look out for it and maybe you can try that!
