I stayed in this hotel MANY years ago, It was called Maximes then and was run by the Adams family.. Fabulous view of the illuminations from the front lounge looking up the promenade from Gynn Square. It had a swimming pool and the breakfasts were lovely. So sad to see the decline that has taken place. You would have thought that with such a great location and facilities this hotel would have thrived.

I would get the hell out of there. There's cheap n cheerful but you can still be clean . 😮

I wouldn't stay in that room or sleep in that bed even if it was for free, god knows what you'd catch from that skank of a mattress or the damp walls! I'd be saying 'I'm a celebrity, get me out of here'! 😵‍💫

Another great video. I wouldn't stay there unless i had to and then I will take my own mattress protector and sleep in my sleeping bag liner. To smell of mould is not good. Well done for sticking it out till morning.

Your personality Dan and warmth is why we watch you and just the good filming and story telling! When I have been in hospital on 2 occasions I have gone asleep and then suddenly felt a jolt and sat upright, it feels like someone just shocked me. Does anybody else get this feeling? It's as if I sense the person who died in the bed. This is why I don't like hospital beds because you know for a fact somebody died in it. Gives me the shivers! Not bad looking too may I add, love to your good lady! xx When I am tired I sleep anywhere, if I could get in the cat basket I would! LOL

I watch because I love seeing the dirt and grime 😂😂 Also your a nice bloke and they are good reviews 👌

I understand why you keep bringing up it's better than being homeless, but you're not homeless. You are a paying customer just wanting a clean place to rest your head for the night. The thought that anyone would want to have any hanky panky between those sheets even by themselves (cough cough )doesn't bear thinking about. I think you deserve a medal for the places you are prepared to stay in, especially after it lit up like a goddamn christmas tree when you shone the uv light on that bed.😂 Your bravery for staying in some of these rooms overnight, especially after it's been uv lit up looking like a crime scene, is very commendable of you in my humble opinion and all done whilst sober to.🥴 All joking aside, I'm thoroughly enjoying your honesty and sense of humour. 😂👍

I'd stay for 18 quid,

I would not be staying there even with the sea view. The thing is you say you shouldn't complain because of the price but people shouldn't be charged any amount of money to stay in a damp/mold ridden room even £10.

I have discovered using my torch at home , that a lot of stains are from the painting of the walls and cielings , not from other substances , its great having acess to a professional chemist to check these things out .

Even if its a fiver a night, it should still have a level of cleanliness. Budget shouldn't mean a filthy shit hole. Damp and mold is dangerous, especially breathing in mold spores.

No way it 4 star thats for sure unless a blind inspector inspected the hotel 😂😂

Good vlog Dan, that rooms very basic and a bit neglected a few Sackets of tea sugar etc wouldn't go a miss , the clincher for the £18 budget price is defo the panoramic sea view...so all in all not bad for a nights kip ..but probably not longer than that. Cheers Harry

Hi Dan another great&brave video staying in some these cheap hotels in Blackpool. Only good thing about this room seaview rest of the room not the best though visited worst hotels. £18 carnt expect much least should be clean thanks for sharing with us. To be honest I won’t stay in any cut price hotels even Britannia ones in Blackpool not great so deserve a medal braving these places liked your video very much👍

If the Seaview was only the reason I stayed

Can’t get it in my head that it’s 4 star! You are extremely brave staying there but the view is amazing

My grandad stayed there in the very late 1980's Maxine or Maxime it was known as then, wasn't by choice exactly, usually he'd stay at a house but wasn't able to that time and it was a friend who booked the hotel and had gone over with. All I can say is he had called it an absolute crap hole, dirty and what not, from the look of it, the place may have only had a lick of paint!

I’m really enjoying the videos keep up the good work. When your in the bathroom can you pls call the basin a basin you call it a sink that’s in the kitchen I know it’s weird but it’s the little things that annoy. Will keep watching either way good luck

Pampus Green bathroom suite if I remember right. Modern and popular in the 70s.

That used to be a lovely hotel. I remember as a child it had a really nice swimming pool.

Its sad if people cant afford it and want a little holiday and get a room like this😢. Dan me and my hubby watch your videos we love how thorough you are and you are very fair, I've noticed you reply to your comments which is very rare thankyou 😊

I watch your channel because I stayed in a hotel in Great Yarmouth and the room we had was not great and it was the first time staying in a hotel in 2022 and we did not go back last year

I am a woman and subscriber. I have no interest in cleaning - unless someone else is doing it! 😂 But I became fascinated by videos about hotels. Tbh I would probably go to a Travel Lodge or similar.

Alot of work need doing to that place

The cost of buying new screws to re-attach the drawer handels and wardobe hinge would be prohibitive, Somewhere in the region of 30 pence.

Surprised they didn't ask you if you wanted the hourly rate!!

I wouldn’t stay there I’d rather sleep in my car 😂 The small plate is a side plate but if it has a round groove in the middle it’s a saucer 😅 Loving your vlogs I’m a clean freak so these videos are very entertaining x

Some open windows and heaters would get rid of that damp. I think hotels should get UV lamps too 😂 I would. I'd sleep in there if it was for one night but I'd bring my own bedding. Yuk!!

Thanks for the video and answering... i dont think i could overlook it all ... its x amount of money to stay in these places but its free to keep clean. I mean a bit of bleach and a cloth is what some places need and basic necessities ie table curtain/blind working window, heat or air cooler, clean shower curtain and hot water is not a hard thing to do. What gets me is the mattresses, i know they aint cheap but when buying mattresses is the main aspect of a bed n breakfast/ hotel, matress cleaner/ hovering rooms should be a given.

Daniel - A saucer has a small indent in the middle to sit a cup, a small plate or side plate does not, but can be used as a saucer if that makes sense. The room was awful, but for £18 what can you expect 😅 - the lamp over the bed was hideous 😅😅 - stupid place to put it, and as for the avocado bathroom suite, it's definitely a relic for sure 😂😂😂😂

Out-of-season rooms get underused and under-heated. The damp sets in.

I usually am not bothered about a sea view, as only use b and b to kip in and usually at night, more bothered about cleanliness and bug free bedding to be honest. Gaz Yorkshire.

This use to be a really nice hotel 25 years ago then turned into an old folks home and then was empty for a time - not a bad location- prefer staying on the north shore away from the centre

My Auntie had that green bathroom in the 80s

The screw at end of bed is for head or foot board

That hotel has been there for about 30 years. Under different owners. The three piece suite in the bottom of the hotel has been there for about 30 years I would say.

The room is cheap and I hope I get a decent room at hotel as I've just booked a room for September

£18 ok but 4 star come on

The purpose of rooms like this is for people on the lash to get their head down, I've stayed in a couple in Blackpool when me and mates went for a night out. You wouldn't stay there for a holiday lol

I hate that saying, well it'll be ok for the homeless like being homeless means you're lower than everyone else and you don't deserve decent living conditions. Some people are so arrogant, I don't mean you though 😊 I really like your videos.

Damn, my friend used to do split shifts waiting on here circa 32 years ago when he was 15, it was called the "Maxime" and was very nice with indoor heated pool.

Hi Dan 18 quid not too bad but I’d rather camp for a night and get myself a chippie and a bottle of ginger and still have change left over , but really I think you’ve stayed in worse for more the only thing is on the plus you have a hot shower and not too bad bed so it all depends on the individual I think mate don’t like damp and mould as not to healthy for us it’s better than living on the streets I suppose 👍👌❤️

And people complain that companies are building nice new hotels in Blackpool.

If it looks damp, smells damp - it is damp! You're nuts if you sleep on that mattress!

They need to inject some money into that hotel they don't seem to care about guest experience just taking money and not putting it back into the place which is bad business sense, maybe he should reconsider his career path.
