I start writing my new draft at a COWORKING CLUB | writing retreat experiment

In this video we do a fun writing experiment where I start my new draft at a COWORKING CLUB! We try out some cool new spaces, eat a lot of stroopwafels, and I give some Project Gemstone updates. 🧇

The coworking space looks SO cozy! I wish I had one near me. The idea of a virtual retreat is such a good idea! I'm looking forward to making more writer friends so I can do this.

I like your idea of a virtual retreat with your friends. I think virtual retreats or retreats in general helps maintain a sense of community amongst writers even in these unprecedented times. Also, I absolutely love your tenacity in going straight into revisions as soon as you finished your draft - you are definitely setting a great example of discipline hahaha! I hope I can do the same. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. Looking forward to more updates about 'project gemstone' in the near future! My favorite place to write is either at a cafe (not too much loud music) or in a quiet room.

This was cool! I love those spaces. We have a coworking space here but I can't swing it - I love my Sunday morning library sessions though. It's the only uninterrupted time I get and it's BLISS.

This prompted me to check out coworking spaces in my city and sign up for one -- since I study online, I've been wanting something exactly like this to help me get out the house each day!! Thank you for the idea!! :)

16:00 "At least on this project I was a better writer than I was before." What a modest way of saying you have experience. Not sure how rare a breed coworking spaces are. The expense isn't a surprise, but neither is your suitability to that environment ... would it be accurate to say that once you absorbed the calm of sitting in Switchyards, you spread your own sense of calm to whoever else was there and it became a cycle? (Or was it really a ghost town?)

Haha thanks Adam! The place definitely has an extremely chill vibe, even on the days that I later went back and it was "busy". I guess they just attract calm people, no complaints!

I am late to the party here, but I enjoyed your review of Switchyards! I have never used a co-working space, so it was interesting to hear how those spaces helped you create. Also, I love the cozy industrial aesthetic (ei. slate gray pipes, exposed brick) that is popular in Atlanta businesses!

Wow all of those switchyard locations look absolutely gorgeous! I'm glad you had such a good time writing this month (and by this month of course I mean three months ago 🤣). I love the idea of doing something a little bit more special to kickstart writing a new book or a new draft, that sounds like such a fun idea!

Omg these spaces looks so cozy and green, love it! I would love if my hometown had something like this, but I'll have to settle on cafés and diners lol. Only problem is that I rack up bills every time I write at a café... XD But out-of-the-house writing is crucial to my productivity. Like you, when I'm home, all I see is stuff that needs to be done or stuff I can play with... so many distractions, so little focus. Thanks for sharing your writing retreat, virtual writing retreats looks fun

The switchyard spaces look really cool and I love that dog in shoes sticker you got haha. Thank you for getting me in the mood to write today (although I’m also trying my darndest not to be jealous that your draft turned out so well and you can keep so much of it!!)

I had a quick question for you! How did you print your zero draft in that spiral-bound notebook? It looks super handy for editing in one seamless go! It's great to see a video from you on KZread again! You're one of my favorite channels to watch! :) (And my favorite place to write is, like you, either my little office or couch, haha).

Oh my gosh, thank you Krysta! 🧡🥹 For the spiral bound copies, I order personal use copies through LuLu. The spiral bound is extremely handy for editing and rereads! I made a whole video about the LuLu process on my channel if you haven't seen it yet :) Thanks for watching! 🧡

I'm nearing the completion of my zero draft as well and love the idea of combing through it in a notebook like that to prep for the first draft phase! :') Thanks so much for always putting out such fun videos! Your vlogs are my favorite things to watch with a cup of tea. I always get in the mood to write after seeing you be so productive; it's a huge help! 💪 Excited to one day read your story - you're doing an amazing job!
