I spent $600 on this guitar and another $700 on repairs...Was this Vintage Loprinzi worth it?

Pretty cool! Thanks, Jeremy! I know when one gets something older, more repair may be needed than first expected. And it needs to be done correctly because it's going to be played and passed as an heirloom.

Beautiful guitar. Years of Mahogany reasonance are in store, having been restored to classic glory, yet even better than new with its earnest patina of the past... which will bring you untold satisfaction every time you open its case. Well done on your purchase!! You should share video of you playing it once you have bonded with it. Blessimgs to you and your new-to-you treasure!!

@DavidHBurkart I volunteer to sing and play guitar for folks who can't get out (memory care, assisted living). I haven't figured out how to do recording and videos. I'm of the "pick up the phone" generation...a rotary phone at that. Being legally blind doesn't help either. My WWII USAAF Dad departed as the pandemic started, wife died 10 months later from 10-year battle with radiation caused leukemia. I know my dog would help with video, but he would rather just listen to me sing. Folks at the facility could record, but there are HIPPA restrictions if any residents got involved. Yes, I can't wait to play it, a guitar from NJ.

@@texhaines9957 That is awesome, paying it forward to those with limited choices for such things in life. Respect from here Sir!! My condolences on the loss of your bride, and your dad preceeding her. I can only imagine what a hole that leaves in your heart. I grew up with a rotary phone on the wall of the kitchen and another on the nightstand of my folk's bedroom, so I can relate.

I have a 1976 Mossman Flint Hills that I bought new. I have been playing this guitar since then, and I am not a gentle player. After about 30 years of hard service, it needed some love. I took it to Mike Lull in Seattle (since passed away...he was awesome and is still missed.) I put $1100 into a neck reset, refretting, a few other minor repairs. When I got it back it played like butter, better than when it was new. My point is... if you have a guitar that you love, and it's not about resale, spend what you think is worth it to get another 30 years of joy from it.

Great find. I recently picked up a 1975 LoPrinzi VR10 - small dreadnought with rosewood b & s. It just had a neck reset and other maintenance needed due to aging. It plays great and sounds wonderful. If you find a LoPrinzi in good condition, go for it. They are great guitars.

When you see Jeremy buying a guitar and explaining why "it's so cool", it's the right moment not to buy anything of that crap. Thank You so much Jeremy for your work, the right thing in the right time ! (Sorry poor English, I'm French blah blah)

I have a 1975 S L Mossman Tennessee Flat Top. Mahogany and spruce. This guitar reminds me of that one. Stuart Mossman was another luthier in the 70’s that was watching Martin and Gibson put out less quality guitars and said I can do that better. He did! Unfortunately the Mossman brand had some bad luck and he only built until 1984 and died in the late 80’s. I am grateful for this video that shows another great luthier from that era!

I love your channel man 👍 as a lefty though I disagree with learning right handed...there are tons more options in the right handed world but I'm a true lefty! It is what it is 🤷 if you're comfortable learning left handed then just stick with it 👍

There are true lefties that need to buy a left handed guitar but it's just so much harder. I'm properly left handed but broke my arm when I was 4 and it shifted a lot of those choices.

@@JeremySheppard any left handed acoustics you would recommend? I have a mahogany GS-MINI and I love it but I just need something full size. I can't afford a Martin or that would be my go to. I've been looking at the Yamaha FG820 but can't bring myself to pull the trigger 🤷 it's just a crap shoot in the quality of left handed models!

@@sneakerhead6184 Consider an Alvarez AD60L? It costs less than a Martin X series (HPL back and sides), and it upgrades you to laminated mahogany back and sides with a solid spruce top. I've seen videos that make the Alvarez sound just like my Martin Road Series DM, which is basically the same instrument with a different name on the headstock. I was recently shopping for my "Heirloom Guitar", and I couldn't buy a D-18 because the DM was hanging right there with it.
