As someone who's played guitar for three years (still a mere amateur though), this is truly impressive. To be able to play that song decently with only 7 days of experience is cool. It's also cool that you're self-taught and not going through actual lessons! Keep it up!

11:15 HOLY SHIT. THANK YOU SO MUCH. i've been trying to mention to people who started guitar and drop it immediately because it was "too hard", that absolutely NOTHING isn't hard at first. walking was hard. learning to read was hard. learning math was hard. hell, everything that takes SKILL is hard to learn at first. i think thats the beauty in it, honestly. i'm an intermediate guitarist, but when i finally get that song or solo right, it just. makes my day. the overwhelming sense of euphoria is just. awesome. so when i see advanced players nail a very complicated solo, i can only imagine the amount of time and effort they put into that, and that makes it sound even better, in my opinion. and when i see beginners, like you, put their all into a skill? it's beautiful.

I just hate that feeling when you're trying over and over to get something, making no progress, you're getting sweaty and frustrated and it's been 45 minutes. I've been playing guitar with guided lessons and I'd like to think I'm decent now, but no matter how good you are I feel like any guitarist could agree with your comment.

As a guitarist myself I am impressed you did wayy better than me in my first days *Song Recommendation:* also Id give a song recommendation "Smells like teen spirit" by nirvana and a guitarist would be like yeah that's easy but to be honest beginners think that's hard *Picking:* I recommend putting your pinky and ring finger on the pickguard of the guitar it would really help with plucking the right strings and not mess up by plucking other strings but when you strum just close your fingers and use your thumb and pointer finger to hold the pick and its better to move your wrists than your whole arm while strumming *Chords:* Just press hard like your life matters on it after a few months u will grow hard skin and that would help alot and I think you're good I mean there's nothing else to improve (other than guitar theory and techniques like pinch harmonic and other stuff) although I might be young (11 yo) you can learn electric guitar like me like If I (a kid) is an Intermediate then you can learn guitar fully, I've played guitar for 2 years and this is amazing! All the best to learning guitar! (that took 10 mins to think abt what I should write here and write it lmfao)

As someone who’s someone decent now after 3 years of putting full effort into it, I can say the best advice I always tell people IS TO JUST PLAY EVERYDAY, also make sure to record yourself at least audibly it will help you realize how much progress you’ve made overtime, and of course play the music you want to play that way you can be inspired to play more often, as long as you have the time and dedication to consistently and constantly play you WILL improve slowly but surely, a year goes by super fast you’ll improve very quickly if you keep this up

honestly, I have been playing violin for 7 years, and learning an instrument is so hard, especially at the beginning. Like I remember being so frustrated and comparing myself, but I kept up with it and now I play in orchestras. In violin, you also have to vibrato, and that stuff took me 3 months to figure out. So the fact that you made actual progress in vibrato after only a week is literally insane. So keep up with learning guitar richie! U r doing great, and one day u r gonna look back and realize the practice was worth it!!!

You know… my parents bought me a classical guitar a few years ago because I told them that I wanted to try it out and it’s just been sitting in my room because I never knew where or how to start or if I should even do it. Now, seeing you be able to pull of something like that only in a 7 day period was really inspiring to me. And hey, I’m only 18. I’ve been told so many times that this is still the time in my life to do whatever I want to do. Maybe this will be the time that I’ll officially give it a try. I may look dumb doing it and may not even end up liking it, but I’ll never know until I actually try. Thanks for this video, Richie. Keep doing great things. 💖💖💕💕💕

believe it or not, I've had a guitar since I was 5 years old, and It took me till I was 17 and actually took guitar seriously and got my first guitar tutor to learn that the metal on the guitar neck was used to make sound. (Don't ask me why). 3 years later, I finally got back into it and took it more seriously, and now I'm in a prog metal band after 3 MORE years of many failures and putting it down multiple times, I finally did it. It took me long enough, but it is what it is. Keep going, people go at their pace.

as a guitarist this is accually pretty good for 7 days you could get pretty good one day if you play more, youll get more used to switching the chords and stuff and your fingers will accually hurt alot less as you play more. i recommend putting amp effects on your guitar like disortion or something, itll make it sound alot better.

heyas, its great youre picking up the electric guitar, cus it like makes you way hotter than you orignally were if you practice enough. this was more progress my heinie could have conjured up in my first week, you definitely have a start for a musical intuition. lots of pointers onto getting your sound just right, from a self taught goober of quite a while. -relax yourself, unstiffen the picking hand and aim for the most comfortable position. the way you pick a string has way different sound for each variation, with the best being a smooth way. -use your other strings, look into what notes are for each fret on each string, usually in a song notes are close to each other which are, which can be played on adjacent or other strings rather than sliding a lot. i can explain further if needed or it can be looked up. use all those fretting fingers!! it helps with that versatility, do some exercises to get that skill of using those 4 fingers in no time. -also, those fretting hands are strongest when you put your thumb above the neck, a condition where your thumb being below it is unlikely, except for some stupid hard chords get that musical ear down, its way more rewarding to learn it yourself instead of using tabs and other resources and whatnot. You're like one of my favorite pookie hot bbg content creators, and I would love to give you more pointers if necessary.

I’ve been playing guitar since I was 11 or about 6 years but you are far better than me when I started cause I decided not to learn chords and go straight for tabs and I also have a teacher. I’d suggest trying to loosen up your arm cause it’s hard to pick when your arm is locked if you’re continuing to learn of course. And make sure to go out your comfort zone it’ll make a huge impact and keep playing man.

Also, i would recommend fixing your right arm and shoulder positioning on the body of the guitar 😁. Also richard i would learn some basic scales such as A- pentatonic or E major. You can play these scales as a warm up for your fingers before playing other songs. Last thing, mad respect for getting that good is only a week! Pro Tip: place your finger as close to the metal fret as possible. This gives you a more clear sound, and it's quite easy as you just have to move the chord shape down a lil bit. It also make's it easier to sustain a sound over time since you need the least amount of finger pressure to hold it down. BTW, dont hold the pick flat. Hold it at an angle.

“That’s how you learn, you do stupid things.” This, this is the line that truly hits. There’s a lot of people who don’t realize that the people who have mastered skills started by looking stupid at first. I sometimes like to imagine a scenario where people make fun of a person for looking stupid on doing something yet after “looking stupid” consistently, eventually, it starts to show that they’ve truly honed their skills. It’s a matter of acknowledging where you should really start and accept that you would look stupid.

Theres a ton of really helpful videos on youtube if you dig deep enough.

As an actual Guitarist of 8 years this was pretty funny to watch but this had more progression in this amount of time than when I started out. I can't wait for you to feel the pain of Barre Chords next lmao

So ive played for 5 years and I dont know that song but I would say it would take me probably 6-9 months to play that. But the fact you were able to slide 5th chords on the third day is crazy bro. Just keep up the work and mess with gear. It sparked my interest in guitar and hopefully it will for you too.

People who said you "didn't learn anything" are wrong... you learned lots of things. Chords are a very important part of guitar. Fire job bro!!!!!!

Been playing since I was 8. I'm 66. I experienced failure every day, but I heard 'something'. I admire you for attempting and hope you continue. I played pro and Mostly for myself, to improve for my own benefit. Have fun with it and f### everyone else. If you ask a pro how good they think they are and they'll tell you, " I'm hearing some improvement". Little victories count.

Failing constantly is something to embrace, failure is the seed of success, you can keep going and you'll likely be amazing, you seem to have the tenacity for it

Been playing guitar for almost 2 years now. Honestly, some of the beginner solos are the same level as you played if not easier. If you become good at vibrato you’d be golden

yeah, the best way to respect musicians is to try music yourself, pretyy rough lol started guitar like one year ago (acoustic, metal strings), I'm still a noob and I still remember all the pain on my fingers and wrists (still have some of it), then came barre chords and shit this was painful as hell, but the good thing is that as the time passes your fingers get used to it (but my wrist didnt get used to it lol) anyway, learning an instrument is awesome, hope you keep going on it and we can see you shredding in no time!

I found out that its better to learn on more of an intermedite difficulty to play guitar, cause then you get used to what its like to play faster. and also what guitar is that, I currently have a modified Squier Jazzmaster

There's definitely room for improvement, like using your other fingers on the left hand to make the notes more connected. Overall still good progress. Keep going.

Bro that’s literally me. I play for a band right, through school, and I play bass btw, and I have never played bass before that but I played cello for 6 years before. I had a week to learn this hard ass riff and i had to lock in for that. BUT PLOT TWIST. our guitarist got sick on the day. And I had 2 days notice to learn the electric guitar line. ( wasn’t too hard) I have played a bit of guitar but hooolyy the trauma 💀
