My #harleydavidson #panamerica was amazing. It did it all...with one exception. The good news is it did not go to far. ‪@BobbyMiller3‬ got this bike. He is right down the road and loves it as much as I do! #royalenfield #royalenfieldhimalayan #livewireev #s2delmar #livewiredelmar #singlegrack

You set it up perfectly for touring with the madstad windshield and the off road protection parts, I couldn't pass on the Pan America Special 🤘 it's an amazing bike.

So you sold it because it’s not great on single track? What’s that like 5% of the actual riding you would do on the bike? If it’s so great at everything else? Scratching my head! My bike does most things mediocre but it’s fine. I have been curious if the Pan America would be a good upgrade since a bunch are showing up in the used market.

Pretty much yes to your question. I try and do a few big long ADV adventures per year including a lot of single track for days. It makes a huge difference if I can actually do it or not or be able to pick the bike up myself. I can do that on my Himalayan. It sounds like the America might be perfect for you it’s such a great bike and right now the resale means you can pick one up for a great deal!

I have a 2022 PAS,. Pavement only . I agree with you its too damn big and heavy for serious off road. At least for me it is. I use mine for everyday commuting ,sport riding , sport touring and long haul touring. For me using it for such it shines and I love. For dirt I have my 03 KLR 650. Surprised you didnt keep the PA since you also have a Himalaya.

You are right, the Pan Am does so much well. I modified my Himalayan (doubled the HP and changed the gearing to take advantage of it). It does highway and commuting duties amazingly, at 60-70 MPG. It can do a lot of what I wanted albeit not as good as the Pan America. It was also that I had the opportunity to buy the FIRST Livewire S2 Sold from a dealer. Did I make the right choice? I don’t know yet, time will tell.

@MCCJustMotos Nothing wrong with tasting all of the candy in the store.. What year is your Himalaya? I am very interested. Keep us posted on how it works for you. I know that Peter Egan bought a 411 a couple years ago and he loves it. He uses it on the many fire roads in his home state. Enjoy your new bikes.

I think the vast majority of ADV's are only used on road and that is why they are mostly made for that with road tires, etc. Some are better than others off-road (Tenere, Vstrom 800DE), but they sacrifice road manners. I'm with you, keeping my dual sport Suzuki DR200se for the trails and dirt and my Tiger 900 gt for the roads. I don't think too many riders really go far on the roads to get to a place where they hit the dirt. Yes there are some, and some who will make videos about it, but I think they are a vocal minority.

Joel, your are right. That all being said I gave it my best go to try this bike on some gnarly trails over a 3600 mile trip. It did great! Me not so much trying to wrangle the heavy bike around 😂

I agree completely. My Tiger isn't that heavy compared to other bikes, but still twice as heavy as my dual sport. Light weight is where it's at on the trails and dirt. My whole family has dirt bikes and when you go down you have to be able to pick them up (and yes my wife rides too, but a nice light weight CRF125F)@@MCCJustMotos

Totally understand. I have been getting rid of my "500 pound" motorcycles; Bonneville SE that I'd shaved from 495 to 475, a matching 2012 Thruxton that is 505 and my Speed Twin 1200cc that is 470 (lost 4-5 pounds with the x-pipe/cat delete) is currently for sale. My RE 750INT has dieted down to 425 from 476 pounds when new, a 10-percent loss of weight and another 95cc's made a huge difference 😊

You go offroad on a big ass ADV, off gravel or fire road onto single track, you best eat your Wheaties. If your back isn't bad, it will be. Do this instead, buy a used large HD. You'll thank me for this, especially if ur single. Go get as much training as you can stand prior to the road. Next, if you must go offroad, get a utility trailer and get a light dirt bike or four Wheeler. You will thank me again. Do not go out alone. Gentlemen, most of you probably use tools. A large crescent wrench (aka adv big ass bike) is okay for some applications, but you are not gonna rebuild a 350 v8 with it. Not gonna happen. Go to harbor freight, get you a three hundred piece set, torque wrench, and just rent anything really special you might need. Same thing here. Used Harley, and used DB, and you will still have money in the bank. Go get that tool set and wrench on your Harley as well, much as u are competent. U will thank me again. Live long and prosper. And here is what you'll learn: The posers are not HD road bike, its just about anyone on a large adv bike. Oh, there are iron butters and real offroaders, but that gotta be like 1%`S of them. Know what I mean.
