I saw this when it first came out. My friends and I had to see it 3 times to catch most of it because we were laughing so hard. Coconut horse sounds, Knights who say NI, killer rabbit..... You have to see it with friends and maybe a little weed.

Like a lot of yhe Holy Grail movie there is more historical accuracy to it than people realize. There were dead collectors during the plagues and there were knights who would block bridges or other routes and challenge travelers to a fight to allow them to pass. This was called Pas d’Armes. Look it up.

I think “The Life of Brian” was even better.

He's too stunned by the insanity. I remember my first time viewing (on PBS at one in the morning); I didn't so much as giggle out loud but by the end my face hurt from grinning.

I think that's more true now. People have now grown up watching American comedies, where the humour is very different, and the reaction to Monty Python is more mixed. The flipside is that people who grew up watching this kind of thing often find American comedy incredibly bland.
